This is a great place to run in and get a quick birthday present for children. They have a lot of great educational toys and books. Of course they have cards, helium balloons, gift bags, and all those ugly Vera whatever they are purses. Only problem is that many of their products can be purchased other places. CVS has hallmark cards. Sugar and Spice has gift bags, helium balloons, cards. Video Signals has books. The Outdoor Store has Patriots gear. I buy cards here because they offer a rewards program. I wish they would offer more gifts and specialty items. Service is usually okay. Nothing special. The people that work there say hello to you. If you ask for help they will try to help you but they never seem kind/warm. The ladies that work there always seemed really busy like they have a lot of merchandising to do. The place always looks pretty much the same to me. Except for the one window in the front that they change out every couple of months. They really seem to hate it when the teenagers and young people of the town go into their store.

This business is nonsensical. The growth has been tremendous, but everything is full price! What’s amazing, though, is that I do keep returning, but rarely buy anything, except when I’m desperate. The range of products and displays make the trip worth returning because you do receive many ideas. They must be doing something right to keep this tiny family-owned business open, and I do support buying local. Hope that a Wal-Mart doesn’t open nearby to destroy the town’s unique flavor.

The staff here are pretty knowledgeable, and helpful. I have had a couple of times where the clerk was cranky, but we can’t be happy all the time! I agree about the Vera Bradley stuff, it is abit over the top, but they must sell it because they continue to carry it! I shop here from time to time and their other locations. They have both street parking in front, and parking in the rear. It is pretty good 1 stop shopping for gift, card and wrap stuff. They have scratch tickets and a lottery machine if you ever feel like making a donation to the State of Massachusetts.

When we first moved to Maynard, we came into the Paper Store a bunch, for magazines, books, kids toys, art and office supplies. We honestly did a fair amount of business here. Some genius in Corporate decided to get rid of most of all these things in favor of stuffing the store with Vera Bradley junk. Now, I’m sure they did that because it sells(I’m not quite sure why, as the whole line looks like stuff I sewed in Home Ec class in junior high), but the name is THEPAPERSTORE. You’d expect to buy that sort of thing there, wouldn’t you? Now, I have to truck on up to Acton to Staples(and I hate Staples) for office stuff, and even further afield for art supplies. Boo!!! I will say that their toy section is still terrific, though. Their book selection now sucks. They are open almost 365 days a year, for your Vera Bradley Shopping Emergencies.
