Best tamales anywhere, and I mean anywhere(well outside of your abuelita’s kitchen!). I was in McAllen visting relatives, and Delia’s was first on my list of places to eat. The tamales are uniformly delicious. The masa is just perfect, the fillings are cooked to perfection, and the price is right – unlike my home state of WA, where tamal purveryors charge upward of $ 18 a dozen for far inferior tamales, such bull — -! People in the RGV are lucky to have Delia’s. Service can be lackluster, but with tamales this good, I can ignore it. Come here and be sent to tamal heaven.

With multiple locations in the McAllen MSA, Delia’s has the best tamales in the Rio Grande Valley. From traditional to unique flavors, you sure will be satisfied when eating Delia’s. Great food for any time of the year, but more so during the holidays.

I really never was a big tamale fan until I ate here. These are the best tamales I’ve ever had. They actually have meat and cheese and flavor. It’s not just a lot of masa with a little bit of filling. And the sweet cream cheese tamales are a must try. I never thought a sweet tamale could taste so good. We go here quite often. As a matter, fact we are going to load up and freeze some to bring back to our hometown for our families.

Best tamales ever. My favorite are the cream cheese and jalapeño. The regular menu is great, the chicken and cheese from the specialty menu is also very good. Next time I will try something with bacon because well… it’s bacon. Manager(owner?) was there and was running a great team. Love this place!

Hands down the best tamales ive had since my grandma used to make them for me as s kid. The staff is fast and courteous, but if you need a large order or some during the hillary than be due to order in advance.

I have never been a huge fan of tamales. I can say that I have tried tamales from several places and I have not liked one. Delia’s is the place to go if you’re picky about your tamales like me. I ordered the porn tamales and it was delicious. I would definitely be coming back for me.

Your customer service sucks, you might wanna get check that out. Waiter was tapping her fingers like if she was in a hurry, didn’t smile, kinda was uninterested on what I was asking, mind you no one was behind me and I’m a visitor to McAllen, this place was recommended to me. Didn’t try the food.

Best tamales around! Love the place. I was in California doing some training and they were telling me about how great the tamales were there… no where near as good as Delias. I’ll recommend that they get them shipped over.

If you’re new to the RGV or to tamales then you need to check this place out! When I was younger I hated tamales. What a fool I was because tamales are delicious, especially when they’re from Delia’s!!! So much flavor, from the masa to the meat filling! My favorites are pork, cheese and jalapeño, and chicken. Each order comes with red and green salsa to provide extra awesomeness and flavor. I live in Austin now and I can’t find any tamaleria that’s at their level :-(so when I visit home, I always make sure to get my Delia’s fix :-) Check this place out!

We ordered a dozen chicken tamales and a dozen bean tamales. The tamales were awesome. They had a drive-thru and offered complementary green and red salsa to go with your order. The salsas were very good. Fast service. The tamales were made very well, tasty, with good balance of filling and corn(masa). The tamales were also relatively inexpensive and they were generous in portion size.

These tamales are really great! I have not tried them all but all the ones I have, have been great. The best thing is that the maza to meat ratio is perfect and the flavors are are constant. If in the area a definite must try.

Good value, authenticity, consistency. They so few things but well done. I recommend the weekend menudo and the simple tamale versions rather than the specialty. Self serve but food is correctly made and the price is right

Okay, so I went to McAllen, Texas, for a business trip and a colleague recommended this place. This could be a one word review – YUM! This place specializes in tamales – all kinds of tamales. As that guy from Forrest Gump would say, they’ve got pork tamales, chicken tamales, beef tamales, bean tamales, spicy chicken tamales, spicy pork tamales, bean & jalapeño tamales, bean & cheese tamales, bean, cheese & jalapeño tamales, chicken & cheese tamales, spicy chicken & cheese tamales, chicken cooked in green sauce tamales. .. and more tamales. Besides tamales, they also serve menudo, salsa and drinks. One more word – DELICIOUS!

The chicken and cheese tamales are their top seller for good reason. You can enjoy the chicken flavor and not run into any ligaments. FYI: they are a little greasy but that is how tamales normally are. If you order a half dozen you find the bottom ones are a little more saturated with grease. Their food consistency is good but sometimes you will get one that is not fully cooked and squishy! Enjoy!

This place has over 15 different type of tamales. Great place if you are only looking to eat tamales. Flavor include sweet and corn tamales. Currently showing 6 locations in the Valley. This franchise has the potential to explode in Texas.

Let me put it this way: I walked four miles there and four miles back to sample Delia’s tamales, and they were well worth the trip. My only regret is that I didn’t bring a half-dozen friends with me so that we could explore their huge tamale menu. Delia’s only sells by the dozen or the half-dozen. I chose the spicy chicken and cheese tamales from the specialty menu. The tamales are petite, about twice the circumference of a cigar. Mine were stuffed with shredded chicken and curds of mild cheese. The masa had a creamy texture like super-smooth polenta, and a rich corn flavor. The tamales were decadently oily without being greasy. Three tamales made for an indulgent breakfast.

Cheap, no frills, and a wide variety of tamales. I ordered a half dozen(the smallest possible order size, which was still too much!) spicy pork tamales and a large drink and spent under $ 5. The tamales were delicious and spicy. I also had the slightly less spicy, but still wonderful, chicken and cheese tamales on another occasion. One thing I love about this place is the simplicity; it’s just tamales. There’s a small salsa bar and some drinks, but that’s it. Their focus on tamales pays off because they are really superb. Perfect filling-to-masa ratio. The restaurant space is also very clean and sunny, employees are friendly(they need a tip jar!). They offer hot and frozen tamales and there is even a drive thru. Great little tamale place.
