Always good fajitas. Good salsa. Botana for 2 feeds 3 – 4. Always clean. Easy, call ahead take out and properly packaged. One of my favorite, «go to» Tex-Mex joints.

The atmosphere was nice and the waiter was friendly. The food took awhile to come out. It was petty good. I had the fish tacos. If I go again I would try something different. There portion was really big and over all the meal was good. I recommend going by and giving the place a try.

We LOVE the bar area. It’s dark, it’s intimate, the bartenders are great! However, there’s an equivalent of a seagull from«the little mermaid» trying to serenade the crowd at a deafening 150 decibels. Seriously, do you need an amplifier in a 20’by15’ room? Any time we have walked in through the door and we heard this guy we turned around and left. It is ridiculous how loud and obnoxious he is. So we do lunch there only. The food is awesome though.

I’ve been dining at Koko’s since it first opened. I love this restaurant, and would give it 5-stars if not for the price increase. $ 15+ for a plate of fajitas? A little over-priced in my opinion. Other than that, this is an excellent restaurant with excellent food. It’s your typical Mexican fare with a few special additions. I personally love their fried fish platter, and their beef enchiladas. The flautas are good, as well. The staff is attentive and the bar doles out drinks quickly(a plus in my book). Their cantina area in the back is adorable and perfect if you want a more private, lounge-style cocktail. I love the lights they hang along the ceiling and the main dining room is spacious, so you never feel cramped when it’s busy. I had my high school graduation party at Koko’s Uptown and they were very accommodating with my requests. We rented the entire party section of the restaurant that is visible as you walk in. Overall, a fantastic experience made special by the Koko’s team. Highly recommend, it’s a must go for casual dining in McAllen.

The botanas are so delicious here, don’t waste your time going anywhere else. I had my graduation dinner here and invited 50+ people and it was the easiest dinner party. They were so attentive to all my guests despite it being such a large party. Their cucumber jalapeño margarita is so, so, SO delicious, I think they’ve even gotten an award for it.

Over priced Mexican food! The fajitas are great but be prepared to spend some bucks…

So so food and horrible customer service would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! Anyone coming from out of town and not familar with this restaurant dont waste your time on this one. There are better alternatives out there.

The fajitas here always disappoint! Everything else is usually pretty good. It’s as if the fajitas are precooked then thrown on the flat top when ordered. The cuts are too thick and the quality is lacking.

Yes, the food is great. The botanas are revolutionary. But I only write this as a warning: the margaritas are potent. My god, three months later and I am still reeling. Bring your aspirin and be warned.

Went for lunch a couple days ago. It’s a bit over priced and the food is not that great. Service was good. We don’t wait long for a table. I ordered the burrito dinner. Not what I expected at all! It was pretty much flour tortillas on top of each other w beans and very fatty meat! The meat was not goat all! It was called carne guisada. It came w rice, beans and a salad. My his and ordered the kpkos special and was not impressed. Was very disappointed… Our waiter asked us about our food and I complained that the meat was very fatty and the burrito was not good. All he said was I’ll let the chef know. I know of other restaurants would’ve change my dish or comp plate since I wasn’t satisfied not the case here.

Got together with family for breakfast to celebrate a birthday for the second time. Very well satisfied the first time we came back again and again the food was excellent as well as the service we received. Prices are reasonable, the place was clean and the waitstaff was courteous. No loud annoying music which I hate when eating at a restaurant with others. I believe I will be back again!

One of my favorite places to eat in the valley, the botanas are always way more than enough food! You can literally order anything and love it

Great food. The Caldos are great but sell out around lunch. Try the fresh made limonada or sweet tea.

Excellent service and wait staff. We highly recommend the fajita plate and cheese enchilada with fajita chopped on top(special order). Lemonade is fantastic and super refreshing. Try the chile relleno and don’t forget the charro beans are sooooo good!

Dinner is delicious but I’m writing about my breakfast/brunch experience. Meh. It was a slow ordering process and when we got our tacos everything was BLAND! My parents(who hate salt) loved it but my husband and I were missing flavor.

Koko’s is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in McAllen. The food is quite delicious and the ambiance is colorful yet soothing! However, the past 2 times that I have been here, I’ve been massively disappointed with their customer service. The very last time I went, we waited an hour for our food, and then waited another 20 minutes to get silverware to eat our food with! I’d recommend going on weekday evenings, and getting a nice big bowl of Caldo Talepeno. Yum yum!

Ate there a few weeks ago while in McAllen on business. Don’t bother. The food was very average and I had to send my margarita back — the first time I’ve ever done that! Costa Mesa in McAllen rocks! Go there instead!
