I don’t know where to begin. I was so looking forward to having dinner. I’ve been at events where Yokos had catered and the food has always been great! I expected the same at restaurant and I was sadly disappointed. I’ll start with the service. Our water was very distracted, I’d understand if the place was full however there was only one other table with three people seated. We sat for five minutes before he brought the menus, he left and came back ten minutes later to take our drinks by then we had enough time to look through the whole menu and also figure out what we were ordering for dinner. My husband ordered the tea, I ordered the pink lemonade and it was very very week, as was his tea. We ordered the vegetable tempura which came with broccoli, carrots, onion and zucchini it was TASTY and CRUNCHY we enjoyed it. We also ordered the steamed dumplings these where delicious however they were served with half steamed spinach and a watery red sauce that was not appetizing. We ordered a roll and it was 75% rice I asked for spicy mayo, it looked like it had been sitting out for a while. We also ordered the chicken fried rice, it was tasty but inconsistent, some bites were saltier than others. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki, it sounded great you could hear the plate sizzling from afar however the chicken was overlooked and dry, no amount of teriyaki sauce could make me swallow that dry chicken, that’s sad because it was a generously served dish. Over all I was dissatisfied with the service and quality of food, and the ambiance. This place had a few tables that were dirty, I was given a steak fork to eat my rice and sushi, I wasn’t offered chopsticks and my server seemed to be to preoccupied to notice my frustration. Sadly we will not be returning to Yokos on 10th st. But I will however consider them for my catering needs

This is an OK restaurant. I ordered the Japanese lasagna and honestly it was OK. I felt like the rice wasn’t steamed well? It kept falling apart. The atmosphere is really great and the server was really nice to us.

Not disappointed at so. We had 2 apettizers and about 9 sushi rolls. Omg we had great rolls! Highly recommend the Jr roll. We had sake bombs before anything started. Service was awesome, the servers were on point and greatly accommodated my husband picky nature about veggies options. Disappointed the soup was chicken soup. But it had great flavor. Presentations were real nice too.

God damn you valley people giving Yokos 2.5 stars… YOUSHOULDBEASHAMEDOFYOURSELVES! this is my go to spot for sushi, and let me tell you, I don’t take my sushi lightly. Throughout all of my travels I am constantly in search of the best sushi around. Well, for the McAllen/Edinburg crowd… this is the spot. Fuck Kumoris and their overpriced little white squares. All of the rolls at Yokos are 7.99 and bigger than everywhere else. Let’s just call them the Mandingo of sushi rolls. I recommend the spicy Yokos roll, a huge roll stuffed with different kinds of fish, if your more of the casual sushi eater then the lady sexy roll is an orgasmic combination of tempura flakes, avocado, crab, and shrimp leaving you to definitely be satisfied ;) just try this place out and don’t order like a dumbass and you will love it.

Nice place Staff are always friendly and fun to talk with There are a lot of varieties and the sushi in on discounts for lunch. I love the miso soup and also the fried rice. My all time favorite is the jr roll. Place is always clean and so are the bathrooms. I always had good service when I come here!

Bland, terribly textured, frozen and packaged food. SLOW rude, un attentive service. Only thing this chain has going for it is décor. I have given this restaurant multiple fair tries, but is seems like other Unilocalers here feel It has gone«downhill» it’s a shame the restaurant doesn’t live up to expectation and it’s long lost image.

This restaurant has gone way down hill! It used to be good but now it’s horrible. Staff is rude, service is slow, food is horrible and the menus come on they need to change it. Most of it are torn, wet and constantly sticky with some type of sauce. The food is horrible, some are not cooked thoroughly and the fish… not fresh. I came in at 11:05 and some one yells«we don’t open till 11:30», when the sign at the door clearly says 11:00! I loved this place but it has been so disappointing.

Wow. What the hell happened to this place? I used to loove Yoko’s. My boyfriend and I loved this place so much we attended one of their special Valentine’s Day dinners they hosted one year. I guess this place went downhill soon after I moved away from McAllen. I went recently for lunch and it was baaaad. I had one of their sushi lunch combos. A roll and some nigiri. Looked promising on paper. The roll had sooo much rice and not much else. I have seen better sushi at cheap Valley buffets. I couldn’t believe that the rolls at Crazy International Buffet on Nolana were better than Yoko rolls. Especially considering how good they were in the past. And to top it off, the overpowering rice tasted funny and was not fresh. I didn’t touch the nigiri. The fish was smelly and unfresh and I was legitimately concerned about getting sick. And now to discuss the piece de resistance: The tuna tartare. I am a huge sucker for tuna tartare and if I want an appetizer and see that it’s on the menu, chances are I’m getting tuna tartare. Yoko’s had tuna tartare on the menu so I order it. Biggest culinary disappointment of my life? Perhaps. The plate arrives and I quizzically stare at the patty on the plate. Yes, there was a patty on the plate. A plate that was supposed to be holding tuna tartare. The round patty was an artificial red color. I manned up and tasted it and it tasted beefy. W.T.F. I point to the patty and ask the waiter if he’s sure he brought me the tuna tartare I ordered. He says yes. I don’t quite believe him so I ask him again a couple minutes later. This time, I ask if he’s sure that this thing he brought is truly tuna tartare and that perhaps he mistakenly brought me a crab cake. He says that he brought me tuna tartare. Tuna tartare is not supposed to be a patty. I thought this was something that does not need to be said. Because it is effin’ obvious. Some restaurants neatly present the tuna tartare in a cylinder form so it looks pretty but the tuna itself is not a patty. I suggest that the owner of Yoko’s go to El Divino on 10th street to learn what tuna tartare is supposed to look and taste like. Oh, and stop making sushi before someone gets sick and sues the hell out of the place.

The place and food was average. The suchi was average. Pretty pricey. The suchi falls apart too fast, I barely touched it and it was destroyed. The service is good and the waiting time was about 10 to 15 minutes. I had a party of 7. The suchi was nothing special it was okay. I may come maybe 1 or 2 more times. The restaurant Is better, I don’t know why all the hate and bad reviews. Overall it was 6 – 7 out of ten.

Yokos was pretty good. They messed up my husband’s order but ended up giving us what he originally ordered AND what they first thought we had. I appreciated that! The sushi is OK, nothing particularly awesome, but OK. The rainbow roll was the best out of the few we had. Service was nice and the restaurant and restrooms were clean!

This last week I decided to try out Yoko’s for their lunch specials. My family member ordered at the same time and expected everything to be ok. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch special and my cousin ordered the chicken fried rice w/no onions. My order came out about 15 minutes after I ordered it and they placed the wrong order for my cousins plate. I wasn’t going to eat without her so I let my food get cold while they did whatever they do in the back. The waiter had to reassure himself again and ask my cousin what she ordered 5 minutes after we thought things were being fixed. Overall the food was cold, and alright. They smothered the chicken in teriyaki sauce which gave it a watery feel. I wasn’t impressed. Now one more thing that bothered me… I was being spoken to in SPANISH! I’m sorry I know I live in a Hispanic oriented location of Texas but I also live in America and would like to speak English anywhere I go. That being said, Yoko’s has some work to do.

This spot is okay-ish. The Bento Box lunch specials are really affordable and range from $ 6.95 — $ 8.95. That said… The soup, Teriyaki sauce, and Tempura sauce were all way too salty. I’d come back again for cheap eats… My friend used the bathroom, and she said it was horrendous and for me to mention it in my review.

The only thing acceptable was the tea. So the wait took forever, despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. Our table of 5 got their food individually, with huge gaps between people, so it was awkward. When the food did finally arrive it wasn’t good at all, barely edible. The sauces were terrible and tasted like they came out of a jar from the dollar store. The fish wasn’t fresh and was room temperature. Also, wtf is up with the menu? It’s impossible to read. Bottom Line: If you’re going to spend this kind of money on sushi, go to Kato’s or Kumori(though I think Kumori kinda sucks). You’ll have a much more pleasant experience.

Before all these sushi places started popping up yokos was one of those firsts. And Also has been in same plaza where many buisnesses have come and gone. It’s tucked center on first floor of south side plaza of Trenton and 10th. Ambience is great. I prefer sitting at the bar. Usually get the boat and split between two people. Portions on rolls are huge ! Sometimes too much lol. This place will always have a place in my tummy.

I’m saddened as I write this review due to the severe inconsistency with this restaurant. I recently went back and will not return. The only decent part of this meal was the waiter. Although there was a hostess, our waiter seated us since she was too busy playing around with the other employees to actually do her job. I also noted that she only sat ONE table during our whole meal, the waiter sat the rest. I ordered the Kani salad once again. While it was still tasty, the pieces weren’t cut the same way as before which made it bulky and not as appetizing. The gyoza was ok although I could have made it myself if I went to HEB and bought a frozen box of them. The shrimp cocktail was horrendous. It was basically banana ketchup(a sweeter ketchup) with onions, avocado, and salad shrimp in a glass for almost $ 10! On to the rolls. The spicy tuna was the worst I had ever seen. There was double the amount of rice there should have been and looked like it was the chef’s first time making it! I don’t know how they could have someone so inexperienced making sushi. We also ordered the Jr roll which was decent. Unfortunately it was not rolled tight enough and easily fell apart. Once again, who put this guy in charge of making sushi? The last roll we had was the Lady Seksi or whatever. It came out AFTER we were finished eating our other entrees. I’m really not sure what took so long since the sushi«chef» was busy chatting it up his fellow co-workers, perhaps the waiter forget and just allowed it to sit there. I don’t know if one of the employees there was a manager but he seemed as disinterested in work as rest of the workers. This place really had a lot of potential. Unfortunately after this visit, I will never return to this establishment unless a complete overhaul is done(except for the waiter who was the only«professional» there).
