My wife and I have dined here several times. Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. The entrees here are top-notch. My wife usually gets the Filet Oscar and I always try something different– all of which have been delicious. Appetizers and desserts are a must. As boring as cheesecake sounds, it is actually quite delectable. My only words of advice to the owners and managers are to fine-tune your servers. If you are going to be fine dining, train your staff to be fine dining. And also, it means a lot to the customers when someone with a little authority comes out and chats with the table but doesn’t overstay their welcome. If you’re in the area, definitely worth a visit.

I came to Éclair Bistro for a teacher of the Year banquet put on by KLAK. The inside is beautiful with white tablecloths, white walls, and purple back lights. It was a predetermined menu. We started with a spinach salad. It was crisp baby spinach, strawberries, walnuts, and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. It was perfect medaly of flavors. Our next course was Atlantic Salmon filet smoked over apple wood, sunchoke purée, spinach-pesto orzo, steamed carrots, and broccoli. The salmon was perfectly cooked. It was tender and flaky. The orzo was over cooked and mushy. The vegetables were firm and lacking seasoning. Our last course was pineapple bread pudding. I’m not of a bread pudding person, but it was good.

The ambiance is swanky, definitely somewhere to go to impress your date. We loved that there was a jazz bar right up stairs too. The host stand was empty upon arrival and a disheveled man hurried along to greet us. He seemed oddly underdressed while our waiter was dressed quite formally. We are a bit disappointed there were no spirits(both the restaurant and bar) just wine and beer. Aside from the hot stone carpacio the menu seemed a bit mainstream and lacked creativity. We had the carpacio and fried oysters to start and both were beautifully presented and tasted great. However, two of the oysters tasted like the dough wasn’t fried through and the powdery texture was really off putting. The carpacio was sliced thicker and not quite what I expected. Also the bread was a bit strange and was more like pastry bread. I switched from Malbec to Cab and the waiter used our same glasses and accidentally switched the glasses around(we could tell from the lipstick stains)! It would have been better to use clean glasses to avoid contamination– after all it is a French restaurant! They redeemed themselves with the cote de boufe which we thought was cooked to perfection at medium heat. The asparagus and fingerling potatoes were great, and they served the meat just right with a few precut slices and the rest left on the bone to retain heat. The waiter generously offered to «top» off our glasses because he felt they were under poured. We didn’t think so but thought that was a nice gesture. He also took one glass of wine off of our tab which again was very generous. Overall, the food was pretty tasty and the ambiance is nice without feeling stuffy. Service was great and we will return again. Just would like to see them take more risk on the menu and be more consistent.

It was my wife’s birthday and she loves French dining so we checked Unilocal for a French restaurant nearby and found Éclair. We later discovered that it wasn’t a true French restaurant but a mix of French, New Orleans and American. The menu was very interesting and the descriptions sounded delicious. We had early reservations so we were one of two tables in the restaurant. We were seated next to the waiters’ serving stations which was odd but we didn’t think too much of it at first. However, having the staff walk by numerous times and swiping me each time we asked to change tables. You wouldn’t think it was a big deal since the restaurant was empty, but the waiter told us to wait while she checked then relocated next to a column. We met the owner’s father who was very friendly and proud of the restaurant. He gave us every detail of the buildout and some background of his son who was not there at the time. Dinner was good, but we had higher expectations so we were a little disappointed. For dessert, we ordered an éclair for dessert thinking that this would be incredible because it’s the name of the restaurant. We were let down. The éclair came out wet and stale … did not seem fresh.

What an amazing find! Our experience at Éclair Bistro was incredible from the moment we walked in and greeted by Rachel to the entire dining experience directed by our waiter Tyler! We initially planned to have just apps and a glass of wine then head to our usual dinner at Ricks Chophouse but we were so impressed by the crapcakes, beet salad, warm buttered bread and the French pressed coffee(a must!) that we decided to stay! What a great decision indeed! The chef outdid himself with the filet and the Ahi tuna and the dessert chef did an outstanding job with the pineapple bread pudding and white chocolate cheesecake! Wine selections were limited but extremely complementary with the food selections! Service was off the charts. Ventured upstairs afterwards to enjoy the Jazz band as well as the art display on the walls! Such an unexpected surprise to find Éclair Bistro and experience one incredible meal! Thank you for such a great nite! Will definitely be back soon as now one of my absolute favorites!(and those who know me know how picky I am about food!)

This place is a hidden gem that I can’t say enough about. Downstairs is a romantic, intimate setting, and upstairs is a jazz bar. You have full menu no matter what you choose. They have a limited but unique beer selection. The lamb chops and escargot are amazing. Go here to have a beer with friends or to wow your date. I can’t say enough nice things about this place.

We can’t believe that we found this amazing fine dining restaurant in McKinney. This place offers superior dishes that you would normally find in upscale neighborhoods of Dallas. I had the chicken dish and my guest had the Filet Oscar for dinner which were both incredibly good. The dishes were beautifully presented as they arrived to our table. All I can say was, «WOW»! We finished off with the pineapple bread pudding and double chocolate éclair which both were a hit. I preferred the pineapple bread pudding because I can eat that all day. Hats off to the Chef. We will be back to try the other dishes.

First the food was fantastic! We had the Duck & Beef burgundy and the cheese plate as an appetizer. However we are diners not eaters and the entire 2 short hours we felt like we were hurried through every part of our meal. Our waitress was continually interrupting our conversations attempting to force our order for the kitchen. No less than 10 times in ten minutes. We were in the middle of our meal and again she interrupts asking for our desert order stating we can order now and take it upstairs to the band??? We’re feeling confused and irritated by now that they want us to leave so they can go home. And it’s only 9:20 and they close at 11PM. During our appetizer two very non-professional men approached our table never introducing themselves and later discovered they were owners. Then towards the end a lady approached apologizing for the food offering free desert when nothing was wrong, except for their continuous interruption. We will never return because of the hurry up and eat and get out of here attitude of the ownership.

Very attentive and friendly staff. We had the crab cakes appetizer, duck entrée & lam entrees. No complaints on any of the food. Save room for dessert– we had none other than the Éclair! Yum!

Definitely the fanciest food in McKinney. On par or better than Rick’s Chophouse in terms of taste. Food is always excellently prepared and nicely presented. They have the best cheesecake known to man. Great beer and wine selection. Also has an upstairs jazz lounge which is great for before on after drinks. Only minor complaint is that there is no liquor.

My husband and I decided on Eclairs bistro because of the reviews. Every thing was excellent. Best meal I’ve had on the square. Food 5stars. Décor 4stars. Service 3.5 star. Service was a little slow but I plan on coming back soon. Wish they had a full bar though :(

They opened for Valentine’s Day and it was… Perfect. The wife and I went upstairs to start with a glass of prosecco for the night. Our hostess came and got us for our table shortly. We had the crab cakes and one of the BEST beet salads I’ve EVER had. Tea smoked beets with a cold mars some cheese, tarragon and hazelnuts… absolutely amazing. The crab cakes were delicious, and the house wine brought out the mirepoix flavors in a big way, great pairing! I went with the duck and can’t imagine anything needing to be added to make it any better, the parsnip purée was incredible and the duck was sublime! The wife had the Beef Burgundy and the bites I was able to pilfer were fantastic, exactly what you’re hoping for in a comfort dish like that. My only thought was that the wine list could use a step up, but the house red was a great table wine and went well with the proteins. Last but not least, the desserts. The white chocolate cheesecake was superb, and the lemon tart was a perfect end to the night. Salute to Chef Aaron… we’ll be back for sure!

Celebrated our anniversary here. It all started with the appetizers. Evrything was good. We had the crabcakes and potato soup. They also served the bread which was also yummy. I had to request for another serving. We ordered the duck breast and asiette beef. It was cooked to perfection. I was really surprised with the duck. It was cooked perfectly and tastes delicious if you eat everything on the plate. Will definitely come back.

We were walk ins friday evening around 6:45pm– just the 2 of us. Plenty of open tables but they had us wait upstairs, said kitchen was backed up. After waiting 1hr and 45min. and seeing others eating dinner upstairs — we left and will not be back. We were told they did not serve dinner upstairs. If they don’t have kitchen staff for a Friday night walk in they will not be in business long.

Celebrating my good friend’s birthday here was a very nice experience. We were located upstairs in a private-ish area with its own bar & live guitar/singer entertainment. It was slightly cold for most of the evening but the waitresses & servers, even the chef/owner’s wife and mother were soooooo sweet! Appetizers were so yummy. We(the hubby & I) had the escargot & crab cakes(mouth watering). For entrées we had the Smoked Salmon– sorry but it tasted of liquid smoke but was still quite good and the duck– a lil bit gamey but the sauce & vegg made up for it. When the main courses came out the we were given a bottle of red on the house. Aside from the few very minor hiccups I love the atmosphere & overall feeling of this place. We’ll be back.

I don’t always give a 5-star review, but this place is pretty awesome. As soon as you walk in, it feels like you step into a whole different city. Very awesome décor and immediately looks like a nice place. When seated, the waiter came quickly and explained the menu and concept very well. The exciting thing is there are many French-type dishes on the menu. We started with some appetizers(cup of soup and escargot) along with some wine. The waiter continued to be attentive but not to a point where it was overbearing. At one point, the owners came out to see how everything was going. In talking to them, they explained the influence was from Louisiana… which explained the French inspired dishes. We ordered a variety of dishes(beet salad, the rack of lamb, dessert) and the food was very tasty. We wanted to stay longer but were on a time crunch. Although, we did learn they do brunch on a couple of days plus have an upstairs lounge area with live music. We will definitely be back. Definitely a good spot for date-night or any sort of adult time. If I absolutely had to criticize something, I guess it would be that the location is only bar and wine. But with the food, service, and selection of wines… it really is not an issue.

Really delicious food and wonderful service! Really appreciated seeing the serving staff work as a team, and all our needs were promptly attended to. I got a little warm at one point and a server(not even ours) immediately redirected the fan towards us. The burger and smoked salmon didn’t disappoint. The artichoke and prosciutto small plate was very unique and tasty as well. I would have liked to have seen a few more less expensive wine options. Past that I can’t think of a single flaw. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a wonderful new restaurant just off the square in Historical Downtown McKinney. First, there is free parking just just across the street for patrons which is a huge deal on a Saturday night on the square. The place is freshly decorated with cool lighting and fantastic ambience. It is quiet but not creepy silent. You can have a conversation without feeling like you’re interrupting the next table. The wait staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. We had the Pinot Noir and the cheese plate as an appetizer. The cheeses were fresh, delicious, and not at all stinky. It came with figs and walnuts which were delicious. I had the spinach and strawberry salad, which was fresh, but nothing super exciting. My husband had the wedge and it looked much more enticing. I wish I’d gone with the Wedge. Finally I had the Beef Burgandy. It was perfectly cooked. The sauce was tasty and the vegetBles were really fresh. The polenta had the perfect consistency. My husband had the Chicken Roulade. He loved how it was cooked and presented. Overall a wonderful date spot.
