Truly impeccable service. I believe alex was her name. She gave amazing recommendations and a run down of the menu. She was knowledgable attentive and funny. She made the dining experience. The filet was perfectly cooked medium rare and cut like butter. The whipped potatoes are a unique twist on a classic. My boyfriend got the elk which was also delicious. Not gamey at all, just like our server promised. We ended our dinner with the dark chocolate martini. Who doesn’t like a dessert with a kick? I absolutely recommend ricks chophouse. From the atmosphere to the service to the food this place is top notch!

Rick’s has been our favorite upscale restaurant and a recent visit certainly did not disappoint. Our table of six ordered the country ribeye, ribeye bone in, filet, crispy catfish, crab cake, and the presentation and quality of each dish was perfect. We were celebrating a high school graduation and a 75th birthday, and we were treated to delicious custom desserts. The server did a fine job, and Owner Rick Wells greeted us with his usual enthusiasm and offered his appreciation for our visit. If you are visiting downtown McKinney we highly recommend Rick’s Chophouse to you and your family and friends.

My review is going to be just a bit different than the norm… While we were dining, there were two very drunk and belligerent patrons in the bar. The situation was tense and could have easily gotten very ugly. However, the staff handled a very touchy and potentially volatile situation in an amazing way. They quietly, but VERY firmly removed the guys… and when they snuck back in, they did it again. This might not seem like much, but the professional manner in which the situation was handled was exceptional and while it could have ruined our dining experience, but because of the approach of the staff, it was barely a blip on the radar. Beyond that, the food was amazing, the custom drinks were incredible, and the service was top notch. highly recommended!

Went here for our Anniversary dinner, very impressed. Exceptional service and attention to detail. Every one knew which year we were celebrating, got many congrats and a complimentary dessert with our ‘years’ on it. Upscale atmosphere but at the same time very personable and homely, we were anxious about taking our 16 month old with us, but they are very accomodating to children as well. Not to mention, food was great!

This is a great place for Sunday brunch(buffet). The value is unprecedented! Prime rib, shrimp, oysters, salad, dessert, breakfast plates, chicken fried chicken, loads of sides like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes… all for $ 25! And it includes one mimosa or glass of champagne as well as unlimited sodas/coffee/juice. The food was good, southern traditional I would say. The only downside, they advertise oysters, but didn’t actually have any. Aside from that, for $ 25, you can’t beat the value at Rick’s! The location is lovely(aside from horrendous parking) and if you can snag a patio spot on a nice day, you won’t be disappointed.

Today we had lunch on the patio. Hubby had the burger and fries. Best burger ever! I had beet salad and half turkey sandwich. We both had tea. $ 34 including tip! Crazy good deal, awesome meal, fabulous service.

From start to finish, one of my best dining experiences in a long time. The servers assistants, the servers, and the managers are all beyond friendly and attentive. I felt much more like a guest then like a customer, and to me, that is the trick of getting from good service to great service. As for the food, I had the cowboy ribeye, and it was spectacular. Great cut of meat and aged properly, so even at medium rare it wasn’t chewy like you find with inferior quality meat. I would go back in a heartbeat, and I urge anyone else to visit if you are in McKinney. Sit outside if the weather is right and enjoy.

We used Rick’s for our rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch the morning after our wedding. We reserved the Rick’s 101 room and it was gorgeous… very grand! The food was excellent and the servers went the extra mile. Seriously, the service was exceptional! They made special accommodations for our picky nephew after they overheard him complaining that there was some ketchup touching his french fries. It was a nice touch, and something they did without asking. Joie was excellent in helping to plan the event. She was new to the role after a sudden departure by the former coordinator and she was more than helpful in making sure everything was perfect. The brunch was so so so good! Best brunch we have ever had and we are so glad we decided to it. We also used Rick’s 101. Great experience and we couldn’t have picked a better venue for our rehearsal or brunch!

Fantastic service. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate. Perfect for our anniversary! I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes with my meal were garlic goodness. Highly recommend! Oh and definitely get the tortilla soup and apple pie!

This place is so good. My husband ordered the«carpetbagger» which has fried shrimp inside and I ordered the filet by itself. So good!!! The steak is cooked to perfection. My husband said it was worth every single cent. Melted in our mouths. They also brought out a piece of pie for our anniversary, on the house! We had a Texas mule drink and it smelled as good as it tasted. We will be back for sure!

First off. wow wow wow. I didn’t think there was anything out here… seriously, nothing is out here but a BBQ joint that I love. This is in the cute downtown area and is attached to a hotel. When you enter. you would never know that this spot was so big or had so many private dining rooms. We sat in the back where there is a bar… ordered a perfect dirty martini(the olives were even fresh) and a cowboy steak. The portion was insane… bigger than the size of my head. Served with a baked potato complete with chives, cheese, and sour cream as well as three onion rings. The ribeye was awesome… I would definitely go again. And now I know why they say Texas serves good steak. Props to my boss for finding this…

This was a tricky place to rate. Everybody seemed to enjoy their meal. The atmosphere and décor were lovely, quiet and enjoyable. But nobody seemed to be blown away by their meal. I enjoyed the Mexican street corn side, and the bread pudding was good. The macaroni and cheese side was disappointing– thin and not very cheesy. My friends tried the fish and the buttermilk fried chicken. They all liked it– but weren’t not blown away. Overall, it was a pleasant meal– but didn’t live up to my expectations. Also, I thought it was odd that they put partisan political art in the men’s room. In the end, this moved an average night down from a low 4 star to a 3 star night.

Rick’s is my Foodie Happy Place. Anytime we have a celebration… birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s this is our celebratory spot. We have eaten at III Forks, Del Frisco, Perry’s, Silver Fox and Rick’s is just as good as one of those spots. The upside is also I don’t have to travel so far. I also love supporting a local independently owned eatery. Now to be warned Rick’s is not very large, so you normally need a reservation for weeknights and during holidays. There is a lounge area that serves the entire menu, but it is more of a casual setting. First off, its on the Square which is treat in itself. It’s always fun to go to the Square to eat a meal. When you walk into Rick’s it has beautiful dark wood floors and massive wood furniture. The lighting is soft and romantic. For an appetizer the crab cake and crab dip are both amazing! The crab cake is mostly lump crab meat and very little fillers. It is lightly fried and not greasy at all. The crab dip is culinary genius! Who would have ever thought to put crab and black eyed peas together. It sounds weird, but somehow it really works! It is AWESOME! I love the Carpetbagger Steak. It is a filet stuffed with a huge fried jumbo shrimp. It is served with steamed carrots and a loaded baked potato. Now, have you ever had a steak melt in your mouth? Well Rick’s steak is the most tender, juicy, flavorful steak I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The hubby likes the Cowboy! It is a large steak the size of your face that is cooked to perfection. It is served with onion rings and a loaded baked potato. Now, the steak is definitely 5 stars… no question about it! I just don’t like their mac n cheese. It’s a steak place not a restaurant you go to for the sides, so I overlook that. The service is always that of a 5 star restaurant. It is very attentive, courteous, and they have a knowledgable wait staff.

I am definitely a fan of Rick’s Chophouse. We arrived for lunch on a Saturday with reservations, and were immediately seated on their lovely patio with a view of the Square. Our table had an umbrella to shield us from the sun and a pristine white table cloth. Our water glasses were promptly filled and our server was quick to greet us and tell us the soup of the day. For my entrée, I ordered the Caesar Salad with an added 4 ounces of grilled salmon. My boyfriend ordered the Field Greens salad, also with an added 4 ounces of grilled salmon. Our entrees arrived promptly, and while the salmon was exquisitely grilled(just slightly pink in the middle, so tender and buttery!) my salad was fairly plain and simple, nothing too remarkable. The lettuce leaves were whole hearts of romaine, long and unwieldy, a bit difficult to cut up and attempt to get a forkful of salmon in the same bite. It tasted pretty good, just not amazing, and I’ve had some amazing Caesar Salads lately so this one was a bit of a let down. My boyfriend’s Field Greens salad, however, was scrumptious. Arugula lettuce piled high with garbanzo beans, feta cheese, tomatoes, onions, and spiced pecans, it was a veritable feast! And with his salmon(also perfectly rare and delicious, like mine) it was the perfect lunch. Highly recommend this salad. Throughout our meal the service was attentive and friendly, our water glasses were always full, and we felt comfortable sitting back and enjoying a leisurely meal on a beautiful day. All in all, it was a good experience and we look forward to returning.

After all the crazy rains in North Texas over the past few days in May ’15, family and I decided the cabin fever was too much and decided to head out to McKinney to check out the Old Town and have some brunch. We stopped by this restaurant on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sun was out — after days of rain — and Rick’s Chophouse had great patio seating with umbrella’s that we didn’t want to pass-on. All the other surrounding restaurants were packed. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and waited a little bit to get the patio seating cleared. We had two kids and three adults and the waitress-Lindsey helped set up our table and bring the high chairs for the kiddos. We ended up ordering the Adult Brunch @$ 25 a person with Mimosa drinks. This brunch consisted of an all you can eat buffet that was scrumptious! I pretty much ate everything on the buffet, from the salad, bacon, poached eggs, soup, prime rib, to the fresh fruits, and dessert. The view from the patio was great. We were overlooking the old courhouse — now the performing hall and just people watching on a great day to be outdoors. The restaurant was clean, and the staff friendly. Only –1 star was the long wait it took to get the patio tables cleaned up and ready for us. Otherwise, good restaurant, good ambiance, good food!

The square is charming and I really liked this restaurant. Individual towels in the toilet and all that. Real inexpensive. $ 74 lunch for three people, and $ 26 bucks tip to Sherida because she was so good and sweet. 100 Bucks that takes you nowhere in my city Chi Town. Chicken fried ribeye(i.e. steak) was delicious. Loved the mashed potatoes too. Salad and shrimp good. Coffee was certainly watered down but I expected that. I will certainly return. Thanks Y’all.
