Erik is simply THEBEST barista on the face of the planet!!! I could not recommend him more highly. The best barista in town. Whatever drink you want, he can make it. I also love the atmosphere of Filtered. It’s sleek and industrial, yet relaxing. It’s a great place to sit down and get some work done.

Ok, I’m in Allen and I travel alllllllllllllll the way to McKinney because of the ambience, easy parking, and great coffee at this joint. But the service? Outstanding. Eric is the by far the best barista in town, or maybe any town. He is always suggesting new flavors and makes the best dirty chai I’ve ever had. This place is well worth the trip, no matter where you’re coming from. Go, go now!

Good coffee. Super spenny. Dang, it was hot out today, and I was walking by this place so I figured I step in for a iced coffee. It was very good and I liked that they had almond milk instead of soy. Paid $ 6 for a large which was more like a small at other places, especially when it was half filled with ice. The hand written chalkboard signs are crowded up and difficult to read. I don’t mind paying $ 6 for a local biz, but what I got was pretty tiny, pretty good profit margin there. :p Oh well, I gotta be more careful next time.

Wow McKinney! You are soooo hip. being from denton, I appreciate a good coffee shop. Filtered did not disappoint. Decent coffee and espresso at a reasonable price in a chill atmosphere complete with music lesson booths and coloring books for adults and children alike. If you are in the historic district, Filtered is definitely worth popping in for a caffeine fix. –Russ

My boyfriend was a little disappointed by this place because he was expecting Starbucks and very disappointed with his tiny little cup. I tried to explain to him that as Americans that frequent Starbucks, you’re not actually supposed to be drinking a venti of coffee. There was a cute little board on the counter that explained all the different types of drinks, which was so helpful. I love coffee(second favorite drink behind water!) but I am no connoisseur. It explained the difference between an espresso, Americano, Cortado, etc. I always wondered but always felt dumb asking! We both got espressos and they were delicious! My boyfriend was completely put off by the fact that it was just espresso and no syrup or sugar. He was not a big fan. I, however, loved it and put some sugar in his so he would drink it haha The décor seems very hipster-esque and simple. It was pretty vacant when we visited. They have awesome(free) flavored water which was the bomb too. I’d go back, if I can drag my boyfriend to go with me haha

Visiting from the Seattle area. We were looking for a good coffee.(mocha) What we found here was a good coffee shop with very good coffee! An Austin located roaster. Great service. Volume tolerable back ground music. I loved the atmosphere, an interesting intriguing art gallery within. Sincerely, the happy Seattle coffee snob.

Atmosphere: Excellent craft coffee shop. Somewhat awkward music-coffee hybrid feel, sometimes the live music or music playlist is odd and off-putting for a typical coffee setting. Is it a music venue or a coffee shop? The drinks: cold brew; delicious and smooth! Cortado; excellent and perfectly executed(could have used some fizzy water along with it, but it was good enough without). Family recipe hibiscus sweet ginger tea; yum! But a little sweet, needs dilution to cut the sweetness and not taste so much like a concentrate. The seating: hard seats everywhere. All under A/C vents; brrr! No comfy seats to sit in and relax for a bit, but if their goal is to turn over seats quickly, I guess they achieve their goal just because the seats are uncomfortable. You can bring a large group here; the tables can be easily moved and combined or separated into many 2-tops. I come back for the drinks, but I wear headphones to listen to my own music and drown out some of the music presented in the shop.

I revisited this place two more times on a resent business trip. I would now say it is in my top 2 favorite coffee shops.

Quaint coffee shop with an interesting twist. The owner, Sean, has a passion for music and the arts. He allows all types of lessons in his lesson room at a reasonable price. After speaking to him I sincerely hope that his concepts makes it. My only complaint is that the seating is not very comfy. I like to settle in for a while and enjoy a beverage and good book but I’m afraid that they only have one sofa at the very back of the shop to accommodate such needs. All in all I’ll be supporting this place at least once a month for some live jazz.

This is literally one of the BEST coffee shop experiences I’ve ever had! I wish all coffee shops offered an experience like this place. Truly a gem. The coffee, spectacular. I’m not even really sure what I had bc the people there were so unbelievably nice they were having us try everything! I think it was a «warm NOLA with a shot of homemade Mexican vanilla.» They’re beans are from Austin. Best Coldbrew EVER! A girl was playing the piano while we were there, they have a music studio and in the back they have games, coloring books, Legos etc. It’s the perfect place for a date, to work, or bring your family. Quality people that are so friendly, accommodating and just fun to be around make this coffee shop exceed any expectations.

Have heard great things about this place, so I finally went it to check it out. From the get-go it’s got a great vibe. Fun little window to the street with some stools — which works great in downtown McKinney because it’s such a cool overall area. That feel carries into the interior of the shop as well. They’re using Cuvee, which is definitely above average. I ordered my go-to, which is the cortado. They only use 1 oz of steamed milk here, so it’s a lot more like espresso with a little milk. Really good, but not really a cortado. That’s my only real critique. The barista was very friendly and kind to my daughters who were with me.

I got a pretty basic caramel latte and tried a piece of a pistachio muffin. The latte was very good, but the pistachio muffin was great! Workers very nice and helpful.

Nice modern coffee spot. They have art on display, board games, a Netflix spot, and copious amounts of caffeine. It’s my sort of dreamland. We both got the Nola, a cold brew with cream/some spices. We were told is offered in just black but they offer the sweeter version too. The service was friendly and our drinks were great. We sampled several baked goods, the macaroons were yummy fantasticalness but the cookies and bar were on the outskirts of yum land. Not so far out but just not good. The parking lot around the side is a bit tight if you’re in a larger vehicle, but this is still a nice local coffee spot. My bar for a good coffee stop– good coffee, friendly people, and perhaps a place to rest the bum to take a few sips of said coffee to avoid more set in splashes in the car– this place has all 3. I’d recommend it. The friendliness of the staff and Netflix station earn bonus points.

A little misleading — it’s not that they sell craft coffee here. They use the beans sourced from Cuvée coffee of Austin, TX(which was formerly based in Dallas). For me, a coffee shop claiming craft coffee distinction should be sourcing and roasting their own beans, not getting it from another purveyor. Regardless, the«craft» in the name still means that they take the coffee seriously. You’ll find the regular, cold-drip, espresso-steamed, and all else here for any of your coffee needs. And they do have the nitrogenated cold-brew that made Cuvée famous. In short, this place essentially serves as a Cuvée outpost. I’ll say this though — it’s nice they have also food — quiche, kolaches and even empanadas. But unfortunately they were out of all these things when I came, so I am unable to comment much on the savory options. If there’s any sign of hipness to McKinney, you’d find it here with the live music offering and a mix of crowd. Spotted an old man with an electric scooter and a teen-bopper rock head. A bit of a standout in the boogie-fied small town of McKinney, Texas.

I almost rated this place a 4 star, because I don’t think they could handle more than just a couple people at a time. BUT… the coffee was stupid good. I mean slap a baby good. I am still unclear exactly what he did to his drip coffee, but it was like comparing crack to 100% Columbian cocaine. Holy smokes, dude that was dynamite.

We stopped by this coffee shop after roaming the square. Aren’t we glad we did. The coffee is right up if not better than the other chains. The employees were very nice and let us try samples of coffee we had questions about. My kids enjoyed the board games in the back and I drew a little on the drawing board. So much space in this place-not at all small for a coffee shop! Loved it and would try it again…

My husband and I were driving through McKinney and I found this place on Unilocal. We went here because of the great reviews and I am glad we did. The place looks a bit sterile from the pictures, but I found the atmosphere was warm and the service noteworthy. We sat in the back and enjoyed a cappuccino, drip coffee, and spinach quiche. Their food menu was unique and I appreciated it. The coffee selection was genuine and I always am thankful for design in my milk foam. The young man who took our order was kind and a proficient barista. On a side note, downtown McKinney(where the shop is located) is a great place to browse and shop!

Awesome space here at Filtered. Right when you walk in, you feel very calm and happy. Perhaps it’s the lighting or how they decorated the place. Something about this coffee shop made me want to relax and smile. There is ample seating throughout the shop and a piano in the middle. A gentleman came in and was talking to the barista about playing that night. I would have loved to stay longer to enjoy some piano music! He ended up practicing a bit and the music was beautiful. They have a variety of baked goods to go with your coffee. They even have cereal for those who just wanna eat a bowl of cereal! Never seen so many cereal boxes at a coffee shop, but I love cereal :) My friend had a cold brew and barista recommended the affogato for me. I should have asked for a bigger scoop of ice cream, but I enjoyed it very much! I think that was the first time I had an affogato! Anyway, great space and coffee. And apparantely, great entertainment as well!

This place is great! There is a long coffee bar on the left and tables and chairs on the right. There is also a lounge area in the back where you can hang out. The coffee is really good. We had a Latte and an Almond Mocca Rocca(supper tasty). The guy behind the counter was very helpful and explained some of the specialty drinks to us. I will definitely come back because I want to try more of their coffee selections.

We had an enjoyable experience at Filtered. It’s a cute little shop with a cool industrial vibe(sleek wooden bar and tables, exposed brick wall). It wasn’t immediately clear where we should order, so we stood by the bar until one of the staff noticed us and asked us what we’d like. There were just two guys behind the bar, and our server was friendly and attentive. He said they could brew any of their hot teas and make it iced. We ordered a cinnamon iced tea, and it was quite delicious. When we got up to leave we asked where they got their tea(since they seem to put out a locally sourced, indie vibe) and we were surprised to find out it was the generic Kroger brand. Not a bad thing, just surprising. Overall, worth a stop by if you’re thirsty in McKinney. FYI, when I checked in on Unilocal I got an offer of a free 12 oz coffee. I don’t drink coffee so I didn’t use it, but good to know for all you coffee lovers out there.
