Camp Ockanickon

A great YMCA campground with something to do for everyone. Our family joined the campgrounds which give us access to the lake and the facilities. There is fishing, inflatables, volleyball, mini beach, outdoor grills and so much more. There are different types of membership but one great thing is they offer free membership to military families!

I went here for an ETA open water swim clinic. They have them on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Everything was very well organized, and Coach Jason was very friendly. I will definitely be going back to work on my open water swimming.

My son has attend the last few summers at this camp. He used to go to Creek Run (in Marlton) but got bored there his first Summer so I did a little bit of research for a more active camp and I found it. He loved it and really looked up to the college camp counselors and C.I.T.s who supervised his group. You name it, he did it. He was so active in all types of sports and aquatic activities including Archery, Boating, Kayaking, Swimming, Nature Walks, Theme Weeks and alot more. They take pictures throughout the week and post them online for parents to purchase if they wish. They require proof when picking up your child (great security), a buddy system is in place all day for everything and have hundreds of children sign up every year.
When I would pick him up at the end of the day, he would be hot & sweaty, in a bathing suit, towel flung over his shoulder, red cheeks from the heat, hair still wet and bare sandy feet & that’s how I knew he had a great day!
It’s a little pricey — depending on how many weeks you choose to register — but it truly is worth it. He’s looking forward to next Summer already.
