I am always looking for the next big thing. After reading reviews I decided to give Punky’s a try. They have great parking which is a plus. They are going for a fifties diner theme it seems. Pretty good job of doing it I would say. The music, the uniforms, and the décor. We were seated quickly by a friendly waitress. I looked around and noticed we were probably the only customers under the age of 60. Not a big deal. I appreciated the omelet selection. I went with the linguica omelet. My wife went with French toast. My omelet was very tasty although the filling was a bit sparse. I asked for salsa and was brought a very small serving if salsa as well. Kind of disappointed. The fried red potatoes sounded good and tasted alright. It was a bit disconcerting to keep hiring into something gritty. Never really figured out what it was but I rolled with it. My wife said her French toast was bland. The service was friendly. One of the criteria I use to judge service is how well they keep my drinks full. It is a small thing and is often over looked. It takes a good server to keep drinks full. Sadly we didn’t get a single offer for a refill. Bummer. Overall, not the worst place we have been and I will give Punky’s another try and see how it goes.

Had lunch with a large group. Waitress was great — very efficient. BLT sandwich was very good. Another group member had a French dip and didn’t give it a thumbs up. Broth very watery and not much meat on the bun.

My latest find! Finally a real diner atmosphere with friendly and efficient waitresses serving good food! The hamburgers are great and the fries are Fresh cut! Today I chose onion rings as a side dish. They were served hot and crisp and not at all greasy. I most definitely will return here often!

Our waitress wasn’t very good with the coffee or drink refills but all in all good food. The décor is cool and the owner is such a sweetheart. Didn’t become my next breakfast spot but I’d go back for pie.

Yuck seriously like Medford did not all ready have enough Greasy spoon diners? Why will no one open a good breakfast spot… The chicken and waffle special was honestly enough to make a first time chicken a waffle eater never try it again… Bone dry chicken breast and soggy waffle is exactly the oppose of what makes chicken and waffles so amazing… Heart broken again over the loss of what I had hoped would offer a solution to Medford’s none existent breakfast spot Crisis… Off to Ashland or GP again to get a breakfast worthy of the time it takes to eat it

It’s rare that I would give any dining establishment 5 stars because my home cooked food tends to be better flavored, better nutrition, and served at the correct temp. Punky’s does this! I think most of their products are made in the restaurant. For example, breakfast sausage and breads. Even the waffles are made from scratch and not a premade mix. Plus their coffee isn’t overly bitter, and the service has always been amazing. :-)

Love this place. Not a fan of 1950s music, but the food is awesome and the service is great so that makes up for the shrill doo-wop constantly playing in the background. But this is my neighborhood joint and I’ve been going here since they opened. Always good, totally reliable America fare.

Pretty good food. Not the best. I had higher expectations for their breakfast. I got the bacon and eggs with red potatoes. The eggs were cooked right but the bacon is thin and rubbery and the potatoes were over cooked. I went there for lunch and had a delicious turkey bacon avocado sandwich, so it’s not all bad. The atmosphere is kinda catchy with the 50’s diner look. And the people are friendly.

This place makes THEBESTBURGERSINTOWN! Bar none. They taste like the burgers of yester year. Not like the horrible steamed burgers at Wayback Burgers. Everything is homemade and tastes like it. Delicious break feasts, lunches and early bird dinners.

A decent diner, I got a omelet, and maybe it’s just me but I like an omelet with lots of stuff in the inside and mine felt like it was just all egg

Always always a pleasure to come home to Punky’s. I never am let down by this gem of an establishment: love pervades the service, the appearance of the restaurant, and the food – something harder and harder to come by these days. Today was an excellent breakfast of delicious buttermilk cornmeal pancakes with rich VT maple syrup. Good, strong coffee, never empty. Crisp(as requested) potatoes o’brien. Expertly cooked eggs. Support this excellent restaurant – it’s comfort food and heart-felt service at it’s finest.

Nothing too special about this place. Maybe I didn’t get the best meal on the menu. Just standard bacon, eggs and pancakes. It was good but not fantastic.

YUM! Great place for breakfast. lunch and PIE! There’s always a dilemma with the BF and I when we travel. Breakfast/Brunch is my fav meal and BF is more of a lunch guy(not so much breakfast). Diners usually have both, so after checking the reviews on Unilocal,we decided on Punky’s Diner and Pies. Located in a strip mall not far off of I-5, so fairly easy to find. Good amount of seating so luckily there was no wait. Service was really friendly and fast. I got the California Omelette and BF got a burger. My omelette was fluffy and filled with bacon, cheddar and tomato — really good. My order also came with a biscuit which was also very tasty as well. Light and fluffy — love a good biscuit. BF said his burger was okay, but he obviously liked it because he ate every bite as well as all of his fries. Just okay, huh… The main reason I wanted to go here was the pie. Seriously probably my favorite desert(other than cobbler), I will gladly admit that I LOVEPIE! Anyway, BF and I both got a slice of cherry pie. I got mine warm, a la mode, and ate every single bite. Delicious! The owner walked by to see how our meal was, and after a small chat, we found out that she makes all of the pies from scratch each day. This pie was probably one of the best pies I’ve ever had. Crust was flaky and buttery and oh so good. Kind of embarrassing because I scarfed my down and BF couldn’t even finish his(he got a to-go box). Anyway, if you are looking for a diner in Medford, or just craving a good piece of pie, go here. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m updating my review and changing it to five stars– thank you for the response and I agree that the limited hours does allow for you to provide the quality and consistency that I so much appreciate– I also believe that to many cooks can definitely ruin that– thank you again for providing a place that serves good quality made from scratch food!

«Don’t eat there, they shit in the beans» somebody hollered from a passing car as we stepped into Punky’s Diner & Pie for lunch. Oregonians are ever so helpful and quick to share. As it turned out, it was a pretty good red and white styled retro diner, spotlessly clean with friendly service and above average diner grub. Even though all the food is made on the premises, my yummy peach and rhubarb preserve included, we passed up on the beans … just in case! Just kidding, I didn’t see any beans on the menu. We’ll certainly dine here again.

Your run of the mill diner. Good prices, big portions, and friendly staff. Their homemade English muffin bread was easy on the taste buds. No complaints

I just got checked into my hotel and I wanted some lunch. Through Unilocal I found this place. It’s east to find with GPS! It’s a 50s — 60s themed diner. That’s a little before my time, but I can«dig» it. I think it’s locally owned, so that’s nicer than some big chain like Denny’s. I get a seat easily and just water for me to drink this time. Looking over the menu, I see many of the usual things you’d expect in a diner and breakfast place. Breakfast is served all day. Burgers, Hot Dogs, salads and sandwiches are on offer for lunch. I see a Patty Melt. Burgers here are made with a 1⁄3 pound patty, so I know that 5oz patty will not be stacking up to my most fave Patty Melt with a 10 oz patty, but that’s what I’ll go with. I’m on a business trip, and lunch is just gonna be lunch. Service is perky and friendly. My Patty Melt arrives in short order. Yep, looks like a standard Patty Melt alright, served with fries as well. The rye bread is grill well and the grilled onions meld well with the meat. Pretty decent, nothing to complain about at all. Now, I see the pies here are supposed to be the big prize here, so I get a piece of the apple pie. Apple is actually my fave pie, all be it a very common pie, it’s just what I like. No ice cream on the side, just the pie, please. On my first bite, wow, that is some tasty pie. The flaky crust was so good! It was like eating pastry with apples inside. The apples were cut well to the correct size to lend enough texture to the morsel of goodness in my mouth. But not over cooked to get mushy. As you can see, I was more excited over my pie than my burger! I’d like to return again when I’m in town just for the pie and maybe another tasty dessert.

Good ol’ diner food… I’ve had lunch and breakfast at Punky’s… Both were solid meals with decent prices for diner food… The burger and onion rings are worth ordering! ***Eat Local***

What a fabulous little diner. Scratch made everything; pies, corned beef hash, sausage patties, the works. Great friendly staff in a cute 50’s style place. Oldies playing and all. Don’t let the shopping area location fool you, it is completely worth the stop. This is a breakfast, sandwich and pie place, no dinner here!
