Very tasty food, authentic guisados. Homemade tortillas rock! Salsas are very good! Steak is really good, all the prepared dishes are great! Only things that can improve are perhaps customer service, especially attitude, and accepting credit cards would be good.

Carnitas are OK no complaints. I love their home made tortillas. They need to start accepting Debit cards/Credit cards.

The benchmark for Chicago taquerias… Don Alfredo is the best. I’ve gotten lunch and dinner a couple dozen times, but just recently stopped in for breakfast… bam! Huevos a la Mexicana with a side of carnitas is my new way to start the day.

We were visiting Chicago, it was 10: 00 am and I needed a burrito! So I pulled out my phone and Unilocaled. Caritas was open at that time of morning, most of the reviews were pretty good and they were only 2 miles from the motel. I ordered a Carne asada burrito with guacamole, pico de gallo, beans and cheese, it was fantastic! My wife tried the carnita tacos and loved them also. The sauces on the table were great, both red and green. Oh and the tortilla shells are home made and fresh! I definitely recommend trying Caritas Don Alfredo. They are cooking up some GOODSTUFF and at a very fair price! Oh yeah, it was 10: 00 am and there were probably 15 other people there. Just saying.

Carnitas are pretty good and very flavory. It’s an ONLYCASH place. They have an ATM inside. That’s the only thing I didn’t like. Most people now a days pay everything with credit card so why not accept credit cards. Anyway, maybe the owner is kind of cheap. They have another location across from the parking lot. I found that a bit strange or unless they have a huge demand that they had to open another location within feets. Then, that means, they could easly be able to accept credit cards. I’ll come again if I have cash and have a taste for some carnitas.

Not that great. Great service and all. But the carnitas, homage tortillas and salsa is not that good. I’ve tastes amazing and thus place does not come no where close. I was so excited to try their carnitas because of all the great reviews. Plus it’s super busy on weekends so I was certain it was going to be amazing, but no.

I used to think this place was pretty good. Don’t get me wrong food is still pretty good, however when you order food that must be served by portions… it’s a complete different story. I bought an order of Huevos Rancheros and asked for it to go. When I got home, and opened the plate I found out that I WASRIPPEDOFF. The plate was about a pound heavy of equals portions of rice and refried beans. The plate only had a very small less than a handful portion of Huevos Rancheros. Huevo Rancheros consist of scrambled eggs, mixed with bell peppers. I was craving them and thought I would try their version, little did I know I WOULDBEROBBED. DON’T ORDERANYTHINGBYPORTIONSHERE… if you must be sure to monitor them and their serving size.

Truly the best carnitas I’ve had. Or made. Get a pound or two for the family with their salsa verde and you have a great, inexpensive dinner. Top notch!

Homemade tortillas from fresh masa made right in front of you. How can you top that. I spent three years in Central America and Mexico and these are the real thing. The place was packed for Sunday lunch and we were the only non-Latinos there. That was a very good sign. Five of us got a couple types of tacos, an order of enchiladas in salsa roja, and horchata to drink. Everything was fresh made and great. We all agreed that we have to go back. There’s some good true Mexican food to be had in Chicago but this is the best I’ve had yet. Note — there is a small carry-out place on the corner. The main restaurant is in the strip-mall next door.

The food is very good. I usually get their specials, torta de milanesa with rice and beans$ 4.99 or flautas with rice and beans$ 3.99. They are not up to date with technology, so they do not accept the deal with a smartphone. They require the print out, which was a complete let down. Some of the ladies can be kind of rude. Overall all is a good cheap place to eat.

Good, cheap and fast. Perfect for a quick lunch. Very pleasant staff. Space is a little tight in some areas but I’d go back. I have the fried pork burrito but it wasn’t fried. It was more like pulled pork. Had it not been tasty I would have complained so I was glad to have the experience with this joint.

Awesome… everything is so good. I don’t eat carnitas but my family does and I get 1 lb(request it without the skin) and their yummy home made tortillas. Their chicken flautas are also delicious. We also go for breakfast and get chiliquiles that are the best I’ve ever had. You can’t beat the prices. So cheap. All of my friends that i bring agree, and end up getting some carnitas Togo for their significant others. Definately worth a try, I’m sure you will go back.

We ordered 2lbs of carnitas, with their homemade tortillas. This is the first time being completely disappointed. When we get home and begin to serve that we find it was finely Chopped 2lbs of skin, fat and grizzle. After picking out only meat(as best as possible) there was only 6oz of meat. Barely enough to feed 2 kids.

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had in my entire life. It’s not expensive either. The employees speak hardly an English(that’s a good thing). The fellow patrons are almost always Mexican or also speaking Spanish(a very good thing). All signs that this place is the real deal. They are known for their carnitas which I have had on tortas and also tacos. All of their other meats are bomb. Be sure to try a grilled jalapeño or some grilled onion bulbs as a side. Really good. Cash only.

There is a restaurant and drive in type establishment across the lot. I went into the drive in and they said that they weren’t serving tacos… what? They explained that they were only packing meat by the pound for their catering and carry out service and their tortilla maker had left for the day. The counter gal then told me about the restaurant across the parking lot. After saying that I’d never been there, they offered me a sample of the meat, a huge chunk of the fried pork. It was so delicious that I hustled across the parking lot to the restaurant. The restaurant was a bit dated, but casual and comfortable. The meat was displayed cafeteria style in bins on a heating table. Tortillas were being made fresh on the back grill. I ordered the 3 taco dinner, carnita with cilantro and tomato. I also tried a large horchata. The dinner was also served with limes. The cost was slightly over $ 10.00 and worth every penny. The fresh tortillas, excellent meat cooked perfectly with no fat or gristle, fresh vegetables, a hint of lime and ample green taco sauce. Perfection. The sides of rice and beans and horchata were very good too. The other meat choices looked just as good. I’m definitely going to return to try them. This is a proverbial carnivores paradise when it comes to Mexican food. After consuming it all and drinking the horchata, I felt like a siesta was in order. If you go make sure to carry cash, no credit cards accepted.
