We’ve been going to A-tan for more than a decade and while I’ve had occasional problems with the speed of service, it’s been rare. Considering the raw number of times we’ve eaten there, I’d say they’ve done well. Love the Jimmy Roll

Ate here a few times before just kinda giving up. Nothing was ever horrible but it just wasn’t good. This place falls into my why eat here when there are better places category. Service always seemed to be ok and the place was nice enough on the inside.

Great family owned and run business! Offering Chinese and Japanese Fresh Sushi and Hot Hibachi! They’ve helped us host groups of 50 to as small as just my twins and I! Always a great experience, fresh foods and friendly service!

Cold, icy day at home! Husband brought home a couple sushi rolls and several containers of house fried rice. I have to say that it was one of the best! It was very, very good!

I have not been here in years; I used to come with my kids in tow and do the whole hibachi thing. It was nice to be back— What I love about this place– attentive service. The pu pu platter appetizer was delectable-we ate every bite. The tempura batter fantastic! –The ribs on the pu pu– honestly they rivaled any ribs I have had in a Memphis restaurant. The atmosphere is a bit lackluster but here is what i have to say about ATan… the perfect takeout food for a saturday night dinner and a movie at home.

First things first, do not under any circumstances order sushi here!!! You get that weird fish-meal slop instead of actual whole pieces of fish. If I were rating on sushi alone I would’ve given one star. I believe you’ll have an enjoyable experience here if you go in with moderate expectations and only order off of the Chinese menu or get the Hibachi. I regret not doing that. I’ve been coming to A-Tan periodically throughout my life and always had an enjoyable experience ordering your typical American-Chinese fare. I have no idea what prompted me to order sushi here. I hate paying for a meal that was terrible, ugh.

I’ve only ordered take out from A-Tan and cannot wait to go back to dine in over a hibatchi grill, my fav! Our food was good though. It was ready when promised, super affordable($ 30 for 2 meals and 2 apps) and tasted good. I enjoyed sushi rolls(though I receieved spicy tuna instead of spicy salmon) and seaweed salad while my bf enjoyed his typical general tso’s chicken and crab rangoo. That’s what’s so great about this place, I can eat Japanese while others eat Chinese! Pretty great! I will update my review once I have a chance to go back to dine in. I’m looking forward to it!

I think the last time I was here was 12 years ago. They’ve definitely renovated since then and it looks a whole lot better. As far as my meal though… it was just ok. My egg drop soup was pretty good but my sushi didn’t blow me away. Normally I can’t stop stuffing my face with salmon sashimi but here… meh. And I ordered scallop nigiri and it was chewy. I’m assuming they accidentally gave me eel because I’ve never had super chewy scallops… like to the point where I could barely chew it. I didn’t touch the second one. I was debating about what to give them but the staff was so incredibly attentive and friendly and I didn’t hate my meal… I just wasn’t blown away. Oh, and the prices are decent. Score.

We had lunch here a couple days ago, and were seriously non-plussed. It started out well-$ 6.95 for lunch combos with rice, soup, and egg roll was a better deal than most places around here. That’s pretty much where the good new stops. The egg drop soup tasted just a little«off,» and was just lukewarm. The egg rolls weren’t even lukewarm-they were tough and basically room temperature. The General Tso’s wasn’t even recognizable as such, and the Schezuan chicken was super bland. Yes, we go for very Americanized dishes, but it’s what we like, and they’re done very well at some places. Cold food, though, isn’t acceptable no matter what it is.

Simple. Just eat Hibachi and sushi here. The chinese food just doesn’t belong. I Some people seem to enjoy it but I don’t think I will ever give it another try. The sushi is absolutely on point. You can see the guy, Jimmy I believe making it and he is in the zone! I don’t really have much else to say.

Aside from the hot and sour soup, nothing else was better than average. Sushi was moderately priced, but did not live up to the«Oh my God» name. The rice just did not taste fresh, everything tasted like it was made the night before and then stuck in the fridge to mingle. Wife ordered a spicy chicken dish which was neither spicy nor chicken flavored. I’m giving A Tan two stars based on service. They have a cordial and professional wait staff who accommodated our infant with no problems. I’m hoping that this was just an off night for the kitchen and the food really is better than borderline boring, but I’m seeing lots of other«middle of the road» reviews echoing my experience. Bottom line: while not terrible, there are other places nearby that easily outshine A Tan for the same price point.

My daughter & a friend had dinner at A-Tan Habachi. She brought me a carry out dinner, Steak«beef» & chicken combo. I was really disappointed! I realize the food will never be as good as when eaten at the restaurant. The med rare so called steak/beef was so TOUGH& gristly my dog won’t even eat it. The chicken was over cooked, while the vegetables were under cooked. The fried rice was delicious but a bit too salty. My family eat out often, I just don’t understand why most Asian & Mexican restaurants CAN’T seem to serve a better quality or better grade of beef. They certainly charge enough for them!

The place has a great ambiance. I like the way how they have separated Japanese hibachi/sushi side and a bar at Chinese side. The Chinese side had a nice tables made out of marble and the chairs were made out of rosewood. The bar and chair are also made out of rosewood also. The Japanese side has the same tables and chairs with a big aquarium and 4 to 5 hibachi grills. The decorations were pretty elegant. As for the food, it is another story. The hot-and-sour soup and egg roll were very tasty. It is not all cabbage with no taste like other Chinese restaurants. As a matter of fact It was really good. Then came the entry: Mongolian BBQ were mostly chopped onions with 5 to 6 pieces of meat, if that. As for the taste, it was bland and no «bam» to it at all. Happy family needed more oyster sauce and more meat. No kick to it at all. And last but not least, the Peking duck, it had a nice sauce but it was not crispy like a Peking duck suppose to be. It was lacking a lot of flavor like a Chinese five spice. The staff were great. They continue insure if every thing were okay or if we needed anything else. They should concentrate more on only one thing. One concept for better food quality like New Asia restaurant of Germantown. This place is authentic and awesome. But they do make great hot and sour soup and egg roll!

I am lucky to live around the corner from A-Tan, but I would drive some distance for it — it is one of the top Chinese places in the city, if not the best. They have an excellent lunch special, which comes with your entrée choice, choice of soup(they have great hot and sour soup), an egg roll, and fried rice. No other place has such excellent food and such a variety of options, considering they offer sushi and hibachi(one side of the restaurant is Japanese, the other oldest part is Chinese). We get take-out about once a week. My wife is vegetarian and loves the hibachi vegetable dinner. I love the sushi, General Tso’s chicken, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp, etc. etc. It’s all so good!
