I had my first lesson on Saturday and Creston is great. I’m working on keyboard right now and then on to the alto sax. I wish the lessons were a full hour. Instead they go for only 30 minutes. It seemed we covered posture and a couple of hand exercises and the half hour was over. I’m practicing at home like a fool though! It is nice to have someone who knows what they are doing so I can ask questions. I’ve bought the books and a metronome through but you still need someone who can offer advice and show you the ropes that you’d never know we’re there. I took away one star because the lessons are only 30 minutes. You can go in and practically name your instrument and your goals and Judy will do a great job matching you up with somebody. I want keyboards first so I can brush up on reading both treble and bass. Once I’m competent again on reading music, Creston has already told me that the sax is his instrument. Judy heard out my long-term goal and set me up with somebody who fit long-term. That was great thought on her part. I like a place that hears the whole situation rather than throwing someone at today’s problem. Creston is patient and, even with the short lessons, I do feel like I’m getting bang for my buck. It is already a pleasure again to sit at the keyboard and bang out a few chords! Adults, don’t feel bashful about learning that instrument you’ve always wanted to learn. From sax, I’ll likely move on to guitar, violin and who knows where else! Make your dream come true! They don’t look at you weird when you tell them you’re there because you always wanted to learn how to play that instrument.
