Great mediocre food if you’re filling a void… but by reading other reviews I was expecting this place to have phenomenal burgers, and they just aren’t. It’s typical bar food, but sometimes that’s just what you want. Probably won’t go back, but it was fine for the time being.

We went the other day for lunch, with our 2 boys. The staff was very friendly, interacted with the kids, brought fun stuff for them, and as always the food was delicious. We had ordered 2 apps plus our meals, and the meals came out first. I mentioned that we had ordered apps as well, and the server went back to check. She came back with the apps and apologized, we said it’s fine, no problem. The shift manager and the restaurant manager also came by our table during the meal to apologize again, and took the more expensive app off our bill. We said no worries and that taking it off the bill was unnecessary, but the manager insisted. Great service, great food, great experience!

Onion rings are huge! Delicious because made with purple onions instead of white. The bluff city burger was pretty tasty except it didnt have any sauce on it. Had to get a side of mayo. Besides that it was a good meal. Disappointed that fries or onions dont come standard these days and have to pay almost $ 3 for a side with your burger.

As the reviews on Unilocal I decided to go here But I was underwhelmed I ordered a world famous Huey burger and a side or onion rings The burger was ok but nothing special it tasted bland I would honestly rather go to Wendy’s And the onion rings were bad it had literally 0 taste it was all around bad The only reasons it gets 2 stars is because I love the atmosphere and I see why people like this place But in my personal view this is not my type of place. I am off to Wendy’s bye!

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I got the bluff city turkey burger, no bacon, and it came with smoked cheddar, onions straws, and bbq sauce on too. It was perfect and delicious. We got onion rings and fried pickles on the side, both of which had delicious batter and were cooked to perfection. I’d love to come bake here if I’m in Memphis and would recommend it to anyone.

Found this on Unilocal and we decided to check it out. They atmosphere was great the staff was really nice. The food was great however I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I have had better. My husband and I both had the BBQ burger and sweet potatoes fries. We also had the fried pickles for an appetizer. All were very delish.

A nice local burger spot in midtown Memphis. Nice atmosphere, good service. Be sure to check out the toothpicks in the ceiling. They have a good selection of beers, including local craft beers. We started with some queso, which is made with a white cheese and served with some salsa. The burgers are 1/3lb and were cooked to order. We skipped the fries since we were told by someone who’d been there before to skip them. They’re also open late, which is a big plus if your plans for dinner or a late night snack start after 10pm.

Best burger and best service in town. Bar none. The midtown location is by far the best. The food is awesome and clearly house made, and the prices are on point too. This place won’t break your budget. If you want a true, local landmark with good food this would probably be my first choice.

Been awhile since last in Huey’s due to poor experience during last visit. Walked in about 3:00pm on Wed. afternoon; good service. Ordered large nacho plate appetizer, beer & vodka martini(made w/my top shelf choice). Lousy martini, not smooth — esp for the price! Nachos were greasy, unseasoned, tasteless, chips soggy w/grease, not enough pico/salsa for 2 bites. Crappy food, warm bottled beer, really lousy martini. Not coming back to this Huey’s. Cook for this shift needs to be fired…

I’ve been a big fan of Huey’s for a long time. They have excellent food and a good atmosphere. However, when I went tonight, the hostess showed me and my family to a table too small for us. As she led us to it, she even said that it would be a little cramped. I normally wouldn’t have a problem with this, but I could see a larger table across the restaurant. Next time I go here, I hope they do a better job.

This place gets 4 stars because I like the Huey’s franchise. I enjoy their food and general atmosphere. You can get anything from burgers to steak sticks to pitas. There is a little of everything for everyone. However, this location is lacking in both space and overall urgency on the part of the staff. As with all Huey’s locations, there is literally writing on the wall and toothpicks in the ceiling. It’s neat and is a fun part of a visitor to Memphis’ Huey’s experience. The menu is the same as all of the Huey’s and the kitchen staff are fantastic and preparing the food. Unfortunately, this location is in an awkward location with awkward seating space(there is literally no way to get comfy in a booth there) as well as limited and tight parking. Overall, not really the atmosphere I am looking for when I want to grab a burger. The staff, while friendly, are not efficient here. When they are at your table, they are very attentive and friendly. But don’t expect to see them back for another 30 minutes. Even better is when they take orders for appetizers, deliver said appetizers, then never return for the order of the ‘main course’. Not everyone wants to eat fried pickles as a meal, guys. Anyway, I like Huey’s, so there is no real negative regarding the franchise itself. The negative is this location specifically. Ironically, I’m not miffed enough to not go back, though ;)

Thankyou Huey’s! I received the gift card. I took my family to eat there lastnight. And I have to say that was one of the best Madison ave. Burgers I have ever had. I think they said Keisha was on the grill and she did an outstanding job! Tell her I said thanks, my burger was cooked perfect medium and I enjoyed it very much. And the rest of my family enjoyed there food as well. You won me back! Thankyou for regaining my confidence in you. I LOVEHUEYS. I am a customer for life!

Honestly, I like the burgers at Parkway Grill better but Huey’s is a VERY close second. A very typical southern vibe with a menu to go along with it. The fries and onion rings are the talk of the town and rightfully so! Delicious food and overall casual, yet cool atmosphere. the staff here is really nice and the service is quite prompt. I ordered the West Coast burger and substituted for a black bean patty. Perfectly cooked burgers with filings that hit the pallet like an atom bomb. The best part of it is the guac — that creamy texture is perfectly paired with the crunch of the onion and lettuce. I’m a huge fan!

Went to Huey’s last night(Wednesday.) very fun atmosphere especially since they had Trivia! They also had two for one drink specials– house drinks and beer. My all-time favorite app is the fried mushrooms and the cheese fries are awesome! Love the burgers but I change it up sometimes with a philly cheese steak and onion rings!

Got a good black bean burger here. Never was able to get my toothpick in the ceiling, so I guess I’ll have to go back and try some more! The food is fine, but going here is more for the atmosphere and toothpick-blowing.

Stopped by Huey’s after a long night out. Walked in at around 1:30 am so we seated ourselves. Within seconds of sitting we were greeted by our server. She didn’t give us her name but she was prompt and friendly. We placed our drink our while perusing the menu. We decided on fried mushrooms, cheese fries, and a grilled chicken sandwich. Our food took about 15 minutes to come and everything was piping hot. The mushrooms were served with a horseradish dip and were crispy and tasty. The cheese fries were hot and crispy topped with melted cheese, scallions. And very crispy real chopped bacon. The chicken sandwich did not disappoint either. It was topped with lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and I opted for ranch dressing instead of mayo. Yum. Overall, my experience at Huey’s was great. That’s why I come here often. Its my chosen date spot for good reason.

This place is so iconic for anyone who has lived in Memphis. The burgers are yummy, juicy, and creative. Getting a toothpick onto the ceiling is icing on the cake. When in Memphis and craving a burger this is the place. This is certainly a place the entire family can eat at! Ask for the basket of onion rings and fries to share. Gluten free buns available too!

I want to give them 3 stars for food and 1 to 2 stars for the staff so I’ll settle for 3 as a conservative estimate(I don’t want to rage-review). Every time I come in my experience is great. The servers are usually cool and take great care of us. Huey’s is a Memphis staple and they are open late. It’s definitely a must for visitors because the atmosphere is fun. It’s your typical burger joint bar food and it’s consistently good. My big issue with Huey’s midtown is how I’ve been treated for years when I call in a takeout order. No matter who answers the phone they are always short and undeniably rude. I understand that they are busy and are probably not making anything off of my takeout order(tips may go to kitchen?) but I’ve lived in Midtown the majority of my life and I can tell you at least for the past 7 years when I call in an order they either hang up the phone immediately after picking up to avoid taking a to-go order or they take my order then hang up in my face without so much as a thank you too or bye. This hasn’t happened once or twice but over and over for years. I’ve tried calling in to-go orders before and been hung up on multiple times so that I’m forced to go somewhere else. There is something seriously broken here!!!

Used Unilocal to find this Gem Today. Sat down at the bar and was help by the Bartender quickly. Locals were all over the place but it felt like home. Ordered a Huey Burger with Onion Rings. Order came out in the proper time and was hot. Burger was cooked perfect and tasted delicious. Three HUGE Onion rings that were cooked to perfection. Inside the onions we’re sweet and fresh which was great. Good prices Great Service and will come visit again!!! Oh one more thing CLEANRESTROOMS!

Huey’s… I love you so… My love affair began at the Appletree location. As an young Parkway Village kid we were pumped when we got a new Malco on Ridgeway and Mt. Moriah. We stumbled into that restaurant before a movie one night and things have never been the same. It became our place. You could find us here weekly if not more often. Times have changed and so as it goes, areas change and Appletree is long gone and now houses some paycheck loan places and a Wal Mart for your shopping pleasure. Believe it or not, I didn’t even try a burger for many years at Huey’s. In fact I am pretty sure I didn’t have one at all at the AT location. I was hooked on my old go to, «Wings and a Steak Stick Snack». Every single visit was this for a very long time. Eventually everyone gets burnt out and has to try something different and I have enjoyed every single item but I still dream about the wings… They are just perfect, whole wings, fried, sauced, and then fried again…(I assume this because of texture, I could be wrong) I guess I have been to every location over the years and while every experience hasn’t been 4 stars I must say that overall they deserve it. I have even spent a New Years Eve at a Huey’s.(I don’t remember much of it) It is hard to remember the differences of the stores as I write this but I think that is a good thing. Thank you Thomas for all of the great meals and good times! Thanks to the rest of the family for keeping it great since he has been gone! Bravo! See you soon! Happy 45th Birthday!!!

Hueys… I’ve had a love hate relationship with Hueys for years now. For a while I couldn’t go there and leave happy. However, my past(at least 3) visits have been fantastic. The food has been hot, and cooked how requested(well done, and not mooing). I’m finally, finally, able to consider myself a fan.

A great place for a quick bite on a Friday evening before a concert at Minglewood or brunch on a hungover Sunday morning. Always delicious burgers and congenial staff. A Memphis institution for sure. Great live music on Sundays. Best burgers in Memphis.

So, last night was my first night in Memphis and I have to say, this place gave me so much to rave about. The food and the atmosphere was absolutely stunning! It’s very lively and everyone is super friendly. Definitely a lot of decorations to take photos of. It was sure a great way to be welcomed to the city! I ordered a medium rare Bluff City Burger and it was amazing! Very big and filling. However, it wasn’t exactly medium rare, but I did not mind one bit. My table also ordered a basket of fried pickles and sweet potato fries and those were excellent. My friend also ordered a side of honey mustard, which was for a small charge, but it was definitely worth it. The sauce that came with the sweet potato fries was excellent! The sauce and fries definitely had a kick to it. We also came when a live blues band was performing. Their name was Roxy Roca and they are from TX. The band added such a funky feeling to the restaurant, although it was kind of hard to hear my friends at the table. Regardless, we took some amazing photos and videos and I can’t wait to return! A cool thing to do is try to blow a toothpick onto the ceiling through a straw. It’s harder than it looks! Plus, you have to be careful not to hit anyone with the toothpicks! Check out the back of the menu for a history behind the restaurant!

Came here to try«the best burger in Memphis» while visiting. I was not disappointed! We arrived during a busy lunch rush, but were still greeted promptly and had our orders taken right away. Service throughout the entire meal was great. We mentioned that we would be moving to Memphis & our server even gave us some housing recommendations. The burgers were fantastic! This will likely be my go-to whenever I get a burger craving.

This is so funny to read the excellent reviews of the hamburgers. I asked everyone on the ice hockey team what they thought about Huey’s burgers. I got a resounding and unanimous blech. The only reason to go here is for the atmosphere and to spit toothpicks in the ceiling. The burgers are the only thing this place really does and they are like frozen supermarket burgers. Really a huge disappointment, IMHO. If you’re known for your burgers… Shouldn’t you at least try and do a better job. How hard can burgers be? I’ll still go to Huey’s. I just understand it ain’t for their famous burgers. YMMV

Seriously some of the best burgers I have ever had. I’ve loved this place since I was a child writing on the walls in the bathroom and anywhere else I could find a small space. Can’t rave enough about the great burgers! The philly cheesesteak, fried chicken salad, and spinach atichoke dip are also some of my favorites. I’m happy that they keep it interesting every so often by adding new items. The turkey burger and black bean burger as a substitute was just genius and I appreciate that from time to tiem as well. Huey’s is a definite go to place for burgers for locals and tourists alike. It never will get old. I hope to take my child here one day and continue the burger tradition.

This place is a go to when I can’t make up my mind. It’s in my neighborhood. The atmosphere is laid back and the crowd ranges from families to sailors to college age patrons. The staff is really helpful and accommodating. I often get the Sunshine Burger. It’s got cheddar, bacon and a fried egg on a hamburger patty… open faced. There are vegetarian options as well. Huey’s has a fully stocked bar if you want an adult beverage. There is an impressive number of draught beers as well. If you want to eat where Memphians go on a regular basis, go to Huey’s!

Cool place to go to eat, if you like something informal and relax to have lunch or dinner. I eat a hamburguer with onion rings that were amazing. If you go with a group of friends or by yourself, you will get a nice smile welcome you. While you wait or when you finish, take a little time and shoot some toothpicks to the ceiling and try to stick them to it with the help of straw. You will see hundreds of them. By the end of the year the staff counts them and match the numbers of toothpicks with money to give to charity. Great food, cool place and fun enviorment to have a bite. Do not miss it if yoy are in Memphis, and there’s one also at Downtown.
