Love this place! The food is absolutely great, we are huge fans of the poutine fries! This review would get five stars, but it should be noted that sometimes the service is not that great, the most recent time we went was very disappointing. Luckily I have been here enough times to know that it’s usually not like that!

Big, tasty burger with blue cheese and fried japs and mini dessert(terrific bread pudding) for $ 15.60. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. We were seated at a nice table by the window, outside of which was construction and we thought the ceiling was going to fall a few times. Lively atmosphere. Filling meal. Not a fan of seeing animals on the walls. Gross.

We were the first ones in for lunch yesterday. I like the animal heads and really wished a few of the missing body parts would have appeared on the menu. Décor is fitting for Canadian Art Deco. Ashley, our waitress, was outstanding. Ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger. Burger was cooked perfectly to my requested temperature. The mushrooms are a mix of portobello, shiitake and buttons which is a tasty treat. I added bacon which was stand up and shout crispy. The garnish for the burger was green leaf lettuce, a major improvement over the old stand-by of iceberg, red onion, pickles chips and a very thin slice of out-of-season tomato. Fries were great and seasoned well. I had two bites of the bun and took the burger off. The burger and fixings were a solid 4.25 stars but the bun was 0.5 stars. The bun looked beautiful but was so dense and difficult to chew and bite through. The bun was also exceptionally flavorless. I can see why few people can tackle the burger challenge, the bun will kill you. Find a new baker fast. Sampled hubby’s onion rings and the dill ranch. Very nice but the batter on the rings could have used salt.

I went here after a Grizz game last Saturday night. The food was really good. They have some of the best fries Ive ever had! They also have Canadian beer so you can try something new and different.

No. No. Just no. 45 minutes and no app? Then the app and the food are ready at the same time but it’s still 15 minutes for the entrée, that then comes out cold? No. NO. For the record, the place was only half full, there was no excuse other than horrible service. I had to request my ranch THREE times, then I asked for lids for them twice and left without any ranch. The whole experience was infuriating.

Kooky Canuck is a favorite with our family. The burgers are great and the Po boy sandwich can definitely be split between two people. Our server Sonia did an awesome job and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. :)

I am trying not to be too overflowingly negative here, so let’s keep it simple: Décor: Meh(compared to the downtown location) Seating comfort: Uncomfortable wooden chairs all around — no booths Service: The waitress seemed alternately smug and offended Food: Took ~40 mins or so from ordering. Taste was adequate.

Love this place. Sonia is one of the best servers. Tuesdays they have their specialty 34oz drinks for $ 5. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it’s all good! great atmosphere for family or hanging out at the bar.

Incredible food! The fried pickles are the best. The service was also to be commended. I don’t think Sonia ever let my tea glass get more than a quarter empty. She was very attentive and accommodating. Definitely would recommend.

It is a bit of a touristy place, but the food was good. I had the buffalo mac n cheese, and it was on point. My girl had chicken and green beans and she wasn’t so excited. Waiting times can be long at at certain hours, but it is downtown so i sort of expected. Definitely a must see at least once.

Blackened catfish was good, but a tad dry. Sides we TINY. No help on this. Chicken in wife’s salad was inedible. No charge for salad. Service was good.

Friendly bartender, Canadian beers and amazingly good food. A must if you’re in the area! AND they show hockey!

Mediocre food, Excellent service by Sonia! Southwestern Salad was badly wilted and drowning in dressing, with barely enough black bean & corn salsa to even call it «Southwestern». Wings were just ok. Fish & chips — fish was good, fries were cold. Grilled chicken sandwich was dry as a bone. Wouldn’t have been the best experience if not for outstanding service provided by Sonia. Very attentive– we never had to ask for anything, she was on it! Good atmosphere for families with kids.

The prime rib was fantastic — very little fat and extremely tasty — with au jus. The side portions were small. I really wish they would serve larger portions even if the price had to be increased to offset. Considering the very reasonable price though, I can’t fault them for the small portion. This is fun food in a casual environment. Kooky Canuck is all about fun and this is a great place to bring groups. The restroom is clean. If you’re really ambitious, order the 4 lb Kookamonga burger and eat it in 60 minutes to get your picture on the wall. They have the big beers on tap and a few crafts that are great. Be courageous and try them. The Ghost River(local craft) is excellent. The place is a little on the loud side but you can hear everything fine and it’s all in good fun! Enjoy the ride.

Some of these catchy places really suck, but Kooky Canuck was a lot better than expected. We went in for a quick bite before a Redbirds game. My brother and I split the Poutine and a skillet cookie. Both were good. The poutine gravy had a zip to it, and we ordered the deluxe version that had gyro meat on it. My brothers cookie was freshly made and served in a small skillet with ice cream. Then the guy next to us was served a 6 lb burger. Holy jeezus… the thing was enourmous. If you’re into food challenges, check our their monster burger options.

Food was very good! It seemed to take a while to get the food, but it was well worth the wait. I had the Memphis Best and added bacon… super good. My friend had the Canadian and loved it! The deep dish cookie and brownie are to die for!

While in town for the Memphis in May Barbecue Championship, we opted for this location prior to our night out on Beale St. This was a find thanks to the Unilocal universe. We arrived at about 6:00 pm, which was surprisingly not as busy as anticipated on a Saturday night on the busiest weekend in Memphis. We only waited 20 minutes to be sat. Once we were sat, we starred at the menu for a good 15 minutes before we all collectively decided to order. We started with some Perogies and Poutine. A friend and I split dishes between us. I opted for the Poutine Burger, he opted for the Fried Green Tomato BLT. This place is very quirky because of their Canadian pride. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many Canadians and I think they may appreciate the attempted authenticity of the food here. However, it’s very Americanized in portion and overall shamefulness(I mean that in the best way possible). I have never had genuine Poutine in Quebec before, but what I experienced with their poutine appetizer was just spectacular. Fresh cheese curds, fresh cut fries, with some unapologetic brown gravy. It was heaven. Unfortunately, I’m spoiled on Perogies being from Chicago. Honestly, they were a little dry and I could not entertain them. Finally our food came, and what was put in front of me was something that I would of never ordered if it wasn’t for my vacationing YOLO attitude for the moment. This Poutine Burger basically had a appetizer portion of poutine on it. I immediately regretted it until I tasted it. The burgers are actually fresh and tasty with compliment of the brown gravy. I was smitten while also covered in gravy. I did the switch with our buddy for the Fried Green Tomato BLT. Sadly, if I would of ordered that as my main course, I would of had a different experience completely. Regardless, the Kooky Canunk does what they know VERY well. I would definitely hit this place up after a night out on Beale St for some of their Poutine.

OK second visit to this location. More to not like. The spouse was not happy with the hard seats. He definitely prefers the booths at the downtown locale. Our service was somewhat slow. I made the mistake of ordering the southwest salad without specifying dressing on the side. The fried green tomatoes were on point, but the rest was drowning in dressing. Not good

If you like large portions of unhealthy food than this is your spot. The food is pretty tasty with a good variety of menu items and the prices are reasonable. Kids seem to be a huge fan of the slight gimmicky-ness of the place but the theming isn’t so over the top that its too much for a group of adults. I personally am a fan of the appetizers and am constantly trying to convince my burger loving bf just to split some with me but I usually have to get the combo platter as my meal and just take some home — my choices are the buffalo tenders, BBQ egg rolls and cheese sticks with the strawberry jalapeño sauce. This is one of the few places where I think dessert is mandatory — the skillet cookie is large enough to share and very good. Typically we spend about $ 40 with no alcohol but not bad considering we get dessert. A great spot pre or post grizz game with better food and waaaay better prices than the forum.

Yes come for their burgers and Canadian beers! However, who would’ve thought that this place is awesome for dessert and late night eats for cheap! A definite Memphis foodie must! Whether it’s a 6 pound burger or some s’mores for dessert, such a great place to promote social eating! Don’t forget the made to order cookie or brownie a la mode in an iron skillet!
