How awful! I made a reservation on Open Table because I have never been to this place so I thought might as well. So I went to this place by myself, checked in with the hostess and she quickly sat me even though she seemed confused only one. Yes I am one person that was hungry on my way home so I decided to go eat solo. Seated, bread came with menu and that is where my story ends. After 12 minutes of several servers and what looked like a manager as well walking by(this restaurant is not big at all) I sadly was ignored. So I left so can’t say anything about the service or food because that requires an actual person. How disorganized and how rude to treat a solo diner like they are invisible.

Multiple meals at this Italian bistro and loved every bite. Service can be a bit slow but always friendly and professional. Pizza is GREAT. So are the various pasta entrees.

We ate an early dinner at Piattino with our three kids. What a great find! Like many parents, we look for places that have kids menus that offer someone beyond the Kraft Mac and cheese, spaghetti or chicken finger choices that most places offer. Piattino has a robust menu for kids that includes meatball sliders(meatballs here are outstanding — better than Millie’s in Morristown, by comparison), orecchiette pasta in a terrific red sauce with one of those wonderful meatballs in the middle, chicken parm, and other dishes that let our kids know that they are not an afterthought. The portions were actually more than our kids can handle, and they usually inhale everything in sight. They were reasonable, too, at $ 5 to $ 6 per kids meal. My significant other easily had the best dish on the table — orecchiette in a carbonara sauce. The carbonara is old school, with the requisite blend of cream, butter, cheese, egg, pancetta and peas. Heavenly, almost dessert grade pasta. I had an innovative pizza off of their pizza menu which combines a thing margarita pizza topped with colomata olives, and a stuffed crust«calzone» on the other side stuffed with homemade sausage. Holy cow was this good. The pizzas are made in an 800 degree oven, which was imported from Italy and that sits proudly in the corner of the restaurant. They have a good wine list, and a decent beer selection, especially Italian bottled beers. We didn’t get to dessert because the food was so filling… no appetizers required! They did serve some tasty, light bruschetta style flatbreads to hold us over while we waited for our food, which was appreciated mostly by our ravenous children. The restaurant is open in feel, but relatively limited in seats. Get the early, or you risk a wait for a table. It will be worth it, though. Highly recommended. Update 3÷24÷16: Had brunch here on Sunday. More of the same — excellent food and service, not to mention value! I had a beautiful frittata with a premium cocktail for $ 11. Can’t beat that.

Best Italian in Mendham. Great pizza as they have Italian oven. Busy but friendly. Great ricotta appetizer. Reliable and consistent food

Casual atmosphere with good food and service. Carrot risotto balls were big hit to start. Homemade gnocchi was appropriately«light.» Broken cannoli dessert and cappuccinos were perfect to end the meal. Bourbon-based martini helped it all come together.

This is the second time I’ve been here now. Definitely want to dress neatly. I love the cheesy bread basket they give you before the meal. I ordered the meatballs as my appetizer and the prosciutto pizza. The meatballs were delicious. The meat wasn’t too tough and didn’t have chewy bits in it. Definitely have mozzarella cheese sprinkled on it. The pizza was also delicious! Could use another slice of prosciutto though.

Some of the dishes are great, however the service leaves much to be desired. The past two times my family has dined here, the hostess was away from the hostess stand and minutes had passed until she realized we were standing at the front waiting to be seated. Once we sat, it had taken our waitress(older, brown curly hair lady) much too long(5 – 7 minutes) to come to our table. The last time we were there, we sat ourselves and had to ask the waitress for a menu. Our waitress, the hostess and another lady were standing in the back talking this whole time(and watched us sit down) Not one person came up to our table or welcomed us into the restaurant until we called someone over. Needless to say, it’s not the worst place I have ever been, but the service has never been up to par. If you don’t mind flagging down your waitress for a menu or waiting at the hostess stand until someone notices that you have arrived, this is a great place to dine.

Love love love Piattino, it has enhanced our town. The calzones, pizzas, large salads, creative pizzas, great sauces — and friendly staff. It’s charming and cool on the inside, too. Price is fine. Why not four stars? One reason. Veal in the lasagna. Take out the veal, and I’ll give you another star. There is no need for such a cruelly raised animal to be on the menu, it is so out serving veal, guys. Get with the program. Farm fresh and more veggie options.

I wish I had better things to say, because there are a couple of dishes(e.g., the margherita pizza and the carbonara pasta) that my family has enjoyed. A couple of incidents have resulted in disappointment. First, I scheduled a reservation for a dinner via Open Table and inevitably got a notice that it was canceled. The manager was nice, so we rescheduled and they were nice enough to comp us some appetizers. The second incident happened yesterday – after a tiring day, my husband put in an order for a pizza. When he went to pick it up, the order had not been submitted. Who wants to deal with that after a long day? Sadly, I’m not sure that I can convince my family to go back again.

This place is delicious the food is wonderful. We are here after a crazy stressful day and I must say it was a delightful meal an energetic atmosphere. People had their family’s and children with them and the food was spectacular. I had a salad which was huge filling and fresh. Happy we tried Piattino, we’ll be back there!

This is a decent place to eat if you want something a little upscale. Pleasant but small. If you are in Mendham go there.

The good: Friendly little(somewhat upscale) neighborhood restaurant. Service is good. The not-so-good: The chef that night had no idea how to make pasta. Hint: stir it once or twice so that the strands don’t all stick together… and so they don’t crunch when bitten.

(Please Note: Unilocal recently disabled my other account and removed all my reviews due to «Content Guideline Violations» after reading the Unilocal terms of service in its entirety I have yet to find what guideline I violated. With that said I will continue to repost all my reviews, both good and bad until I receive some form of clarification from Unilocal) Terrible food and terrible service. Server was rude and rushed us. The manager seemed to just sit at the bar and play with his phone the whole night. Most of the staff spent the night near a POS terminal gossiping about all the oh so terrible customers in the store wasting their time that night. Most of the 4+ rating are staff or villa enterprise employees. Google their names and you can find their linkedin profiles.

Food was good, prices were reasonable(for the area) and our waitress(Steph) was courteous, knowledgable of the menu and had a great attitude. It’s not a five star restaurant but gets my vote for a nice place with nice people and a dining experience that keeps you at ease. Try it and I think you’ll like it. Oh… and they have a liquor license too!

Was away for weekend and just stumbled upon this place, what a find. We started with the oven baked meatballs which were juicy tender and flavourful. Next we had the grilled clams with Pancetta and Fontina cheese, it was delicious. We finished off with a Funghi Pizza drizzled with Truffle Oil. Let me say that it was one of the best tasting specialty pizza we ever had. The pizza oven was imported from Italy and they know how to use it. We also had a bottle of wine which you can take with you if you don’t finish it. I live about an hour away. My wife and I are going back within the next week or so. I will follow up with another review and if our experience was as good as the first I will give 5 stars. Plus the service was great.

Pleasantly surprised. I stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and have to say I was impressed. Food, service and atmosphere were all great. I was in the mood for a sandwich or panini but didn’t see anything close on the menus we’re provided. When I asked the waitress, she gladly gave us the sand-izza(pizza dough sandwich) menus(which she said they don’t usually offer on Sundays for some reason). Wife and I both got sand-izzas, which were great. Huge portion for the price and the fries they came with with were awesome. Will be back to try the pizza.

We stopped in for a business lunch today — I picked this place because of its easy parking, convenient location and inviting décor. We were greeted quickly and professionally(none of that, «how are you guys doing?», nonsense. Refreshing. Our drink orders were taken immediately — a very tasty ice tea that needed only fresh lemon, no sugar. We ordered a pizza as a split-able appetizer. It had all sorts of meat and veggies as toppings and would serve as a good meal if it wasn’t shared. Mmmmmm! While we waited for the pizza, the waiter brought 4 small wedges of spicy and toasted pizza bread. It was so good, I would return just for a second helping. Really! My colleague had tortellini with an Alfredo sauce. He gave me a small taste and I pronounced it excellent. My main dish was a grilled chicken sandwich. It was well spiced, juicy and tender — hard to do on a sandwich-sized piece of meat. It was a perfect summer lunch. Light, full of taste without being over spiced and large enough to bring home ½ of my sandwich for dinner. And then there were the French fries. If you are tired of the cookie cutter, once frozen fries we get even in some nice restaurants, this is the dining experience for you. The mound of crispy and clearly fresh cut potato strips was piled high, hot and properly spiced. The best fries since I at the Gotham Bar and Grill — honest! Truly a good find and a place I’ll take my wife for lunch or dinner very soon. Good prices(great quality equals good value), superior service, clean and inviting atmosphere. Recommended.

What a pleasant surprise. The décor is lovely. The service is terrific. Our server was Andres and he was knowledgeable and helpful, giving us a tour of the menu. The wine list is varied with wines of all different types and price ranges. We enjoyed a Caesar salad, veal risotto and salmon. Everything was delicious. The portion sizes were extremely generous and everything was cooked to perfection. This bistro is a real treat and a departure from the ordinary.

I’ve been here quite a few times now, and when you order the right things, it’s actually great, especially for Mendham. To start, the Margarita pizza is amazing. I’ve had the steak frites and they were pretty good as well(not the best — but pretty good). I had a salmon entrée here which was very good as well. The fries are excellent, too. I’d recommend this place to people who like Italian — especially pizza. Between the salmon and Margarita pizza alone, I love it, and the ambiance really gives it something extra — that’s why I give it 5 stars.
