Memorable! You have to get the root beer float and bring home the glass! Knowing that my boy will always remember this!

I’m sorry to say that I am not a fan of the food here. It is very bland, even for me. But what I am a fan of, is the classic A&W Root Beer! Especially after a long day of hiking to the peaks of San Gorgonio and San Bernardino East Peak from the Momyer trailhead.

This place is horrible. It doesn’t even deserve a star but I had to put one. Trash everywhere, root beer float was not fresh, and the employee act like they don’t see you standing there too busy gossiping.

We stopped by this A&W on the way home from Big Bear. We went though the drive through and it was so slow that I was able to jump out of the car and run over and use there ghetto ass dirty outdoor bathroom. When I got back to the car the line hadn’t even moved one bit. When we finally got our food it was ok. Nothing special. Just typical fast food food.

Sign says dinning room closes at 9pm… it’s 7:20pm and the doors are locked! Employee said dinning room has already been cleaned up so we couldn’t go in and eat, only drive thru… wth! Only thing worth coming here for are the root beer floats, service sucks.

I have a place for A&W in my heart. Great memories of looking forward to a root beer float(at another A&W location) after a long road trip. Every time I have A&W on tap I’m reminded of the thrill of being little and enjoying the simple life. However, life is amped up a koch when it’s a root beer float. Nothing but love for this small location that gives its best to serve fresh not processed food unlike Mc Donald’s.

The only reason they are getting any stars is for the name only. We’ve been in line for over 20 minutes and there were only 2 cars in front of us. I sure hope the root beer and French fries are worth it.

My friend and I were leaving Big Bear and we were both super thirsty… for root beer. We drove through the town not finding what we craved so we decided to get something down the mountain. Oh snap! I remembered there was an A&W in Mentone(we were heading home via the 38). My very first job was at an A&W so I have a tiny little place in my heart for them. We pulled in around 3:00 and decided to eat inside rather than drive through and try to balance burgers, fries and root beer while on the road. We walked up to the counter and placed our orders. The girl who took our orders was very pleasant. After a quick look around, we immediately changed our orders to go. There was only a hand full of people so there were plenty of available tables. Problem was, there were roughly seven flies per table. Flies were everywhere! Some little kid was running around maniacally yelling, «Die! Die! DIE!» while trying to kill them. When our orders came up, we took our meals out to the car and pulled into the shade to eat. I had a bacon cheeseburger. Meh. It was not as good and juicy as I remember them to be. But it was okay. My friend had a hotdog. She said it tasted dry, like it had been waiting awhile for someone to order it. The root beer was, thankfully, cold and delicious. Will I be back? No… just because of the flies. Help meee. Help meeeee.

I Honestly Loved Their Food, It Is Very Small But Only Because People Pass Through The Drive Thru Often. I Liked It, & I Hope I’ll Come Here Later On.

Love the root beer freeze! The place is old and run down, but the freeze is worth it. Yummy!

I love the draft A&W root beer, especially in a frosty glass mug. Most places only have soda in the fountain dispenser, but draft is so much better. Mentone A&W is the only place I found that still has the draft root beer. The three A&W’s in San Bernardino closed over 30 years ago. The Yucaipa A&W closed about 5 years ago. The Cabazon A&W closed about 1 year ago. Most A&W’s now are part of another store(like KFC) and do not serve the draft root beer but do have A&W root beer as a fountain drink. You might be able to get a root beer float but not a freeze(a stirred up float and a freeze is much better). When I tried to buy a freeze at a KFC A&W, they told me to just stir up the float. It’s just not the same. I do agree with others that the place is falling down. All of the dining area was added on decades ago and could have been done better. If you go there, just picture how the employee area is what used to be inside, and all of the dinning area was outside.

First of all, A&W restaurants have been closing across California for decades. This location is flat out decrepit. It’s literally falling apart. I have never been a fan of the food, but if I have to eat, the bacon cheeseburger is edible. No, this place is getting 5 stars only for the root beer on tap and the floats. This is despite the fact that they once closed 10 minutes early when I was«that guy» coming in near the end of their shift with a root beer float craving on my way home. At least they were inside cleaning, but you would never know it from the looks of the place. I just want this place to stay open as it’s one of the few former drive ins to still be in operation. I don’t want to go to Cabazon. It’s bad enough that the Yucaipa one closed.

The food is good, fast service what you would expect for fast food. The Root Beer Float is the reason why we come. The location is a little off the beaten path. The inside looks like it could use a remodel, why I give it a 4 stars is got to be the Float.

Urghhhh! My husband and I bought regular root beer floats at 824p. Here it is 1115p and I’m lying here sweating profusely with my tongue hanging out of my mouth. I think I got food poisoning! My stomach is clenched and sour. Gas is taking up real estate in my lower intestines and my head hurts like my ponytail is too tight. We went thru the wait-thru and yes, it is the longest wait but the $ 4 float sworth. My husband looked a little green in the face too. I can’t finish the review. Too sick.

this place needs to be looked at by A&W corporate. Stinks inside like mold, no air, root beer blows out of tap with a bunch on air. some guy is in the back room hammering something, ceiling tiles still hanging and water stained., not a clean table and bathrooms out side are disgusting… time to bulldoze this place and rebuild. one of the best locations to have a business with little competition and great traffic flow… note to the owners. shame on you, you have a gold mine here if you only clean it up to todays standards

Come here at your on risk… Last time I came i decided this is the last time I will eat or drink anything here. The biggest problems were: 1. While I was eating a stink bug crawled up onto my table 2. The drive thru service stinks 3. The indoor service could use some work 4. And The place looks like it could collapse any minute So if you like going to places that could fall over any minute and places that have broken numerous restaurant health and safety rules this is the place for you!!!

Came here for the first time. I’ve been told there are not too many of these left around so stopped by and had a bacon cheese burger. Was pretty average nothing too crazy. I don’t think I’ll be coming out of my way to eat here again though. Maybe if I lived like…, across the street, hahaha.

I arrived at A&W at about 5:30 Pm on a Sunday evening. The food took at least 30 minutes to be served. Meanwhile in that 30 minutes, of course I started noticing how disgusting and dirty it was there. We thought that maybe it was just busy, and they didn’t have time to clean. But why would the window sills be caked in dust and dirt? How could they explain what looked like a possible dead cockroach in the corner? We stupidly decided to just wait for our food. Why you ask? Because I had a very long day and my husband and I were starving… BIGMISTAKE!!! When we finally got our food, the hamburger was like rubber, the cheese curds tasted like they were microwaved, my husband’s fries tasted cold, the root beer was flat. Definitely not worth the wait. It was disgusting.
