I agree with the post from a few weeks ago. If I could give negative stars I would. The morning after our stay we found a bed bug that had recently fed and killed it. We also found a small one on the pillow that hadn’t fed. We took the pillow to the front desk to show the clerk and she didn’t seem surprised at all, and certainly wasn’t apologetic. She tried to call the owner, Sunil, but he didn’t pick up. I let her know we’d pack everything up and then come back to check out and talk to the owner. She said she still hadn’t heard back and gave me what I thought was his card. She told me to call him if I hadn’t heard from him. So I tried the number and it was just to the front desk where she was. Now I was angry. I came in and told her as much. She said that she couldn’t give me his personal number. I threatened to call the health department and all of a sudden Sunil could be reached. She refunded me my money and still no apologies. I stormed out of the office and got a pathetic, sarcastic sorry as the door shut behind me. It’s a few days later and I now have bedbug bites on my face and neck. I think this place should be shut down. They obviously know they have bedbugs, they don’t care, and they tried to lie to me about the owner supposedly calling me later.

If I could give negative stars I would. This place is very dirty with mold in the bathrooms and around window. Not 100% sure but when we got home we found out we had picked up bed bugs and this is the only place it could have been. Wouldn’t go here if it were free.

The Budget Inn in Merced was our first overnight stay on our California roundtrip. We chose this motel, because we were looking for an acceptable reasonable priced motel since we arrived late and wanted to leave early for Yosemite National Park. The motel is very close to the freeway 99 and easy to find. Check-in was easy. We had to pay 1 Dollar extra for paying by credit card. In the night you have the noise of air-condition, the freeway traffic and the late night train traffic. A Denny’s was right across the parking lot and a MCDonalds was nearby. The motel is not located in the best part of the town. So it would be better to remove all your valuables from the car. The room was very basic but spacious, offered a Flatscreen-TV and free WIFI. Our room had 2 double beds, one chair and a table. The breakfast was a cup of coffee and a small packaged sweet roll. We spent 50 $ for on night and you get what you pay for. We only stayed here because we just needed a clean place to sleep for just 8 hours and we didn’t want to pay the high prices of the lodges near the Yosemite Park at the weekend.
