This was my first car hop experience so I wasn’t for sure what yo do. The car hopper came out and was very nice and I enjoyed her service. Since this was a high recommendation from the locals in Merced for a good local burger joint I decided to try it. The burger is nothing to go raving about it’s an average to below average burger, but the seasoned fries were excellent and the rootbeer was just okay.

This is a great little spot for a quick bite right off the freeway. My husband got the hot pastrami and fries, and I got a Philly cheesesteak and onion rings. All was really good, but my cheesesteak could have used a little more cheese. The service was great too… they brought everything out, didn’t have to ask for a thing. The seating area was clean and had fans to help with guys and the heat. Great stop, we’ll be back!

If you’re in the mood for a good burger with a homey feel then this is the place for you. They have a pretty wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, and sides. I usually always go for the guacamole burger or a bacon cheeseburger. My friend really likes the Big Dave and Western Burger. The fries are very well seasoned and in my opinion the best part of the meal. They also sell homemade root beer in half gallons for you to take home. The service is quick and friendly. You have the option to order at the window and then eat there or you could always park it there an order and eat. Whichever way you choose you will always walk away satisfied. Also if you’re a student you can get a student discount that’s 10% off.

There has never been a day where i have have gone their and it was empty. They always busy and have a line at the window. So that tells you 5 stars. Thanks Jeramiah, and Crew. See you soon, Joe

They serve a side of ranch with everything it seems. Good Philly cheese steak, fries are seasoned. Plenty of patio seating plus the drive in is cool. Flies though.

How this place doesn’t have a solid 5 star streak is insane. Literally the best place to get a burger in the Merced area and for an excellent price. I have tried a majority of the menu and was never once even sloghtly disappointed. Everything is always cooked to perfection. And whatever you do, take home a jug of root beer! I cannot recommend this burger joint enough and have yet to find anything on par since I have moved to Arizona. Other than family, this place is one of the few reasons I will return to the area from time to time.

I looooove this place. I get the bacon double with fries and have never been dissatisfied with it. Their food is so tasty and filling. The 5 – 10 minute wait is worth it. My bf makes fun of me for eating here so frequently. I think he’s just jealous that I don’t invite him though ;)

As a Merced native I consider this the best burger joint in Merced. If you have a large party they have various items in their menu that would accommodate mostly everyone’s taste buds. You can order Burgers, sandwiches, tater tots, fries, ice cream, banana split, zucchini, burritos, chicken wings, etc. The customer service is great and the staff is consistently friendly. They will make your burger exactly how you want it, usually I add extra jalapeños and avocado to my burger. The seasoning they use in their fries is delicious, they don’t over season it, just enough to keep you wanting more. The building has more of a classic look to it, maybe 50s? 60s? You can either enjoy your food in the patio or in your car. Usually I order from my car and take it to go. Pro: They have tater tots! If you’re feeling extra dangerous you have the option of adding chili cheese to both your fries and tater tots for an extra cost. Excellent customer service 5⁄5.

Convenient location close to highway. Plenty of parking and sitting area. Staff was friendly even though they were busy. Today was 99 degrees but they have shade and fan going so it felt better. Food was awesome and prices were great! Came here to grab brunch with the ladies and we all had a fantastic time catching up! Will be back.

I must say this was my second visit in the last eight months. My wife loves this place. First visit wasn’t impressed, today’s visit we got to chatting with server, and I asked for the best seller. To my surprise she said she would take care of it. She came back with the MOSTAMAZINGBURGER. it had the works on it! Wow good job lady! I asked her: «what is it called», she said: «it my creation!» She work Mon-Sat. Side note: wasn’t to comfortable with the homeless guy who dropped in at the end of the meal.

Burger joints tend to be some of the most comfortable comfort food around. As Modesto has A&W on 14th Street, Merced has H&W on 16th Street. Obviously not the same company, but very similar. Location is very good. It’s only a few minutes’ drive from 99, in the heart of downtown, and easy and quick to find for 99 travelers in either direction. Locals have probably known about this joint for generations. No indoor seating. The building is only a kitchen and a potty for customers. You have three choices of seating: on picnic tables, on the stools, or in your car. It’s a time warp back to the 1950s. I wonder if the carhops ever wear roller skates like they occasionally do in Modesto. So anyway, we stopped in on our way to a graduation. Girl: hot dog with large fries and a lemonade. Hunny: #4 Bacon Cheeseburger meal. Me: Pastrami Burger meal. Each of us complimented the fries. The Hunny, a Texas native, was wondering if they used Tex-Joy, the seasoning tasted similar to that. I don’t really like fries, but add this seasoning, and they were good. The burger patties didn’t look too appetizing, but they tasted wonderful, and the pastrami and burger complimented each other’s tastes perfectly. The family got filled for $ 20. I’d put the food at a 4. But the atmosphere is so comfortable and nostalgic, this bumps it to a 5.

Eat here frequently. I bring a group of 50ish annually and the staff is more than accommodating. I usually order the pastrami burger and onion rings. This place brews their own rootbeer! How cool is that?

Husband and I were traveling for work and decided to stop and eat after reading the Unilocal reviews. Very glad we did! Old style burger drive in. Has stools for outdoor counter seating, covered outdoor seating and drive up car hop style. Fast and friendly service. We ordered the Double French Burger & Cheeseburger combos. The Double French Burger had 4 patties! Wow! They serve seasoned crinkle fries and give free refills. We will definitely stop again next time we are in the area!

Quick review. First time here, made it about an hour before closing and they were cranking out burgers. Got the Western Burger with curly fries and Root Beer. I can see why so many people love this place. Everything was delicious. What I liked most is that even though I made an after-the-fact decision to buy a drink separately, the lady who took my order remembered that I ordered a meal and only charged me the difference. It may not seem like a huge deal, but I haven’t come across too many places that do that, let alone remember after seeing so many faces come through.

I had to stop here and check it out, based off the reviews. And I agree! It’s really good for the value if your craving a burger and shake! I got the western burger except w one patty not two and a side of fries and a small root beer shake! All this for $ 7.55! What a deal! So it’s super old school and you pull in and they come up to you and take your order. Then once your food arrives they place it on a tray that is attached to your window that’s rolled down… so I guess you don’t go here in the rain then? The burger was pretty good for a drive in burger and the crinkle fries were seasoned to perfection! The reviews were right! And the shake, the shake was my favorite! It’s made with fresh homemade root beer and creamy ice cream. I want to go back for another shake! The waitress was really sweet and accommodating. She checked on me 3xs to see if my food was good or if I needed anything. I gave her a good tip, she deserved it.

I don’t know if it was the long drive from southern California or the empty hole in my stomach… but I loved this burger joint! I definitely try to support local businesses rather than fast food chains, so I found this little gem. Their burger was juicy, had fresh ingredients, and was relatively inexpensive. What more could you ask for?! I tried and would recommend the avocado burger and chili cheese fries. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here but I’d definitely stop by next time I’m in the area. Yum!
