Pinocchio’s

The food here is always wonderful as is the service. We took my 87 year old mother here and she loved the place. We ordered the Torino pizza with no onions, when the waitress brought it out there were onions on it. She is the one that noticed this and immediately had the kitchen make us a new pizza. The second one came out with no bacon. She apologized immensely and told us that the owner wanted to apologize, that we were welcome to eat both pizzas and only be charged for one. On top of that we all received free Gelato. I want to thank our waitress and the owner for their awesome customer service and for the wonderful food. We will be back.

3 stars because I came here on literally one of the worst dates of my life and a drunk man tried to start a fight in the bar, but the food was ok and our waitress was amazingly kind throughout the mess going on downstairs and the unbearable machismo of the creep sitting across from me. Thank you

Place was super loud and customer service was good, but the were busy so I expected it to be slow… And I was. Food was decent, selection could have better– but it was hot and servings were generous.

Food is nothing to rave about. It’s decent but nothing to want me to come back. Food came out at all kinds of different times which put off eating due to waiting for everyone to get their plate. Waiter was either over attentive or under attentive. Got asked about drinks every couple minutes but our check was not picked up got about 5 – 7 minutes. One time experience. Will not come back.

Favorite place to eat by far! I always order the rigatoni with red sauce and it’s always amazing. And idk what it is about the Caesar salads here that are so good too. I’d come back just for the salad and service alone!

Love this place delicious every time great customer service have eaten here too many times to tell. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious cooked to perfection just wish they had more of a dinner menu
Sometimes reading bad reviews of a place I know is great every time is hard for me to figure out guess you just can’t make everyone happy I will say sometimes because they are so good they get packed and a little overwhelmed but I just simply understand that and sometimes have to come back later I’m certainly not going to write a bad review because of it we will be back Merced is lucky to have you

A large group of us guys came into town for a conference and we were hungry! Hungry I tell you– we argued awhile and three of us just took a walk down the road– happened upon this place and decided to check it out. I had the pepperoni pizza w/​red sauce and basil– the other two had the pastrami sandwich and jimmy cricket sandwich. Everything was awesome and staff was great– I think we know where we’re eating tonight as well.

Being from out of town, but wanting a good lunch at a «local» place, rather than an International fast food affair, dumb luck with my GPS fortunately led me to Pinocchio’s! (No lying!)
It’s a casual affair, with lots of wood and a «Pubby» feel, and also has an interesting second story loft with lots of window space. I had the Pastrami sandwich, which I was drawn to as the menu sighted it was served with Au Jus. (I thought they might be kidding and their noses were growing.) The Pastrami was great and the Au Jus made it unusually great plus the green salad with Pinocchio’s house vinegarette dressing alone would bring me back. Service was timely, continued, and served with a smile.
I’d go back for anything on the menu, but would be tempted to try their pizza. If you’re in or around Merced try Pinocchio’s.

It was more pub-​y than I expected from the name. It wasn’t a problem for me though, and I came here with a picky date
I ordered Venetian pizza I believe. Basically their take on combination. VERY good. Better than the average pub/​restaurant pizza.
She had the chicken broccoli whatever, and she liked it as well.
Overall great service from our waitress and great food as well. Very happy with the experience. Thankfully it was a Monday night so there were very little people in the restaurant. Our experience might have been different had it been a Friday night.

There aren’t many food choices in Merced, and I definitely recommend this one!

Not many food choices in Merced, and if you had a choice, I don’t recommend this place.
I am surprised by the prices and portions. $ 10.99 for 6 small Costco coconut prawns baffles me. I don’t recommend this order.
Meatball sandwich was okay, definitely not life changing.
Grilled chicken salad was okay. But the chicken was cold.
Long wait for the food.

We were in town last night to see the Leann Rimes concert (a friend of ours is her bass player) and wanted to have dinner before the show. This place was amazing! I cannot say enough about the owner… he was calm, friendly and very accommodating on such a busy, busy night. Two of us had the hot roast beef sandwich… yum! One had the hot pastrami sandwich, another had the white lasagna and the last one had the Italian sausage rigatoni. All 5 of us LOVED the food. It was served hot and fresh, it was tasty and the price was very reasonable. Whenever I’m back in Merced I will definitely go back here. Thank you!

Meal was (ok). Bruschetta appetizer was too sweet, vinegar tasting. Buddy said it tasted like sweet salsa on a hard piece of bread. Both of our meals were less than impressive. Olive Garden has them beat in some ways. Lots of locals hang out here for some reason. Possibly the pizza or the alcohol. Didn’t try ether. To be fair I know great Italian places in San Diego so I’m fussy but I also know Olive Garden and several other Italian chain spots. Now my buddy disagrees with me on Olive Garden being better but not by much. Must be the pizza & drinks.

Service was really good. When you ask them to get you something, they’re practically running to go get it. Probably because it’s Friday and it was busy but still, I was very impressed. And we didn’t have to wait too long for our food, 20 – 25 minutes tops. Speaking of food, it was delicious. But I give it a 4 just because our server kind of forgot about us after giving us our food. Partly because he was busy but I was a little disappointed with that because it took us 20 minutes to get out of there after we were done eating. But overall, I’d definitely come back!

Beef ravioli meet sauce, cut them In half before you take a bite they may splash the sauce if you don’t. The ravioli had a very authentic homemade taste.

Due to the outstanding reviews we decided to give the place a shot. We started off with Fried Calamari, that’s when the dissapoinment began: we got crumbs, it was a miniscule portion.
We also ordered a gluten free cheese pizza, a grilled cheese with fries. The pizza was okay, the fries are frozen, the grilled cheese was crispy but not worth mentioning. Needless to say the dishes are dramatically over-​priced for I was not given mouth orgasms.
Still unsatisfied we ordered more and the wait was even grueling. In fact one of our family members went home and still made it back before their dish was served.
My only thought on Pinocchio’s is never again.

We decided on giving this place a try after finding Bella Luna closed.
Ambiance: Traditional America bar with both an upper deck restaurant feel and a lower deck bar.
Service: Excellent! Courtney was both polite and helpful in navigating the menu while introducing us to Peroni, an excellent Italian light beer.
Bar: The average variety of beers, wines and liquors. Nothing really special but more than adequately stocked for their clientele.
Food: The menu all sounded good making it hard to decide on what to order. After a short debate we settled on The Grande Bianco Lasagna. A white sauced lasagna was filled with chicken, spinach, mushrooms ricotta mozzarella & provolone. The unique listing of ingredients was the reason for choosing it and it turned out to be a good choice. Not fantastic but pretty dang good and something I’d recommend trying. Our second choice was the Papa Pinoke Pizza. This made with traditional Za sauce covering a homemade crust before being drowned by salami, mushroom, pepperoni and sausage. I found it to be excellent! If you’re not sure what to get and looking to be safe side then this or any of the pizza’s (i.e. Za) will do nicely.
Desert: Despite having a gelato freezer only steps away from the bar we skipped desert. We were both way to full from dinner as the portion sizes were a bit much. That said neither of us have a large appetite.
Cleanliness: Good, the bar, seats, tables, etc were wiped down and free on sticky yuk. The floors looked equally as clean but since I didn’t use the restroom I’ll give it a solid good. rating. Who knows if the toilet was clean or filthy? I guess you’ll have to find out for yourself.
Overall: I found this to be a great little place for good food, drinks while spending time with the locals. I’m a fan, 4 Stars.
