Charlie’s Pizza

So disappointed the last two times here pizza was awful. It used to be the best In town. I think he is using poor ingredients so upset

Probably the best pizza in Meriden. Located inside the Village Barn (a local dive bar), Charlie’s basically has a tiny window within the bar to pick up your pizza at. It is a cash only, no nonsense pizza place. They don’t deliver, but they deliver on taste for sure. Couldn’t recommend any other place in Meriden if you are looking for good pizza. If you happen to eat in at the bar, it’s basically a local sports bar with some TV’s, pool tables and darts. Great place to catch a game and enjoy some good pie.

So this is the story…
I moved and was dreading having to go to another pizza place that was just mediocre. My co-​worker would not stop ranting and raving about «Charlies» he convinced me to try it and I am so glad I did! The pizza was GREAT. My coworker even drives from the other side of town, just to get pizza from Charlie’s.
This place is very random… make sure you have cash only, they do not accept credit/​debit cards! Also, there is just a small little window you order from/​pick up your pizza at (take a left when you walk in)
This place is a gem, and the owner, Charlie is very nice. The pizza has been consistent and delicious each time I have been. I am so glad to be right down the road and be able to go here whenever I want for a fast pizza. I recommend to anybody that is in the area or traveling through to go to Charlies! Do not waste your time anywhere else.

Just bring cash!

Definitely popular with people who are crazy about New Haven pizza (as you can see). This pizza place is situated inside a dive bar. Not much for atmosphere, we went around lunch, and there was no waitstaff attending tables. Personally, I don’t think it’s that great. I think the crust could be thinner, and the cheese could be thicker. I think they have it backwards here. But then again, I am a bigger fan of Greek pizza. It tastes way better (for some odd reason) if you let it sit for a while, and eat it lukewarm. I’ve had better thin crust pizza. All in all, it’s good, but it doesn’t knock my socks off.

Absolutely divine pizza. Meriden’s best kept secret (well, not so much anymore, I suppose!). My husband and I are used to traveling to New Haven (Pepe’s, Modern or Abate’s) and we have to say that, unless we’re down for a trek, this is darn near the closest thing to a New Haven pie that you could get here. My husband enjoys the bacon and onion (or sausage and bacon) and I always get the tried and true white pie (with sliced tomatoes). They are always consistently excellent. Charlie’s is inside of a bar, so when you walk in, Charlie’s pizza window is directly to your left. I would call it in first (for pick-​up) unless you’re going to have a drink at the bar, which will be a completely separate tab. I haven’t sat down and eaten my pizza before at the tables outside of the bar but I’m sure you probably could.

This pizza is the best in Meriden and surrounding towns… Aside from new haven I haven’t had better. And it’s in a bar so you can have a drink while you wait. There is one thing, they don’t deliver but still well worth it.
