Checkers

Like most Checkers, this location is usually extremely slow, the employees are full of attitude, and if the burgers weren’t so darned cheap and good we would never bother.
Most of the time I come here, I’m ordering for 8 and get like 20 Checker burgers, 4 fries, and some chicken/​phillys (or whatever the new sandwich is) and expect a bit of a wait. Like, 20 minutes.
On average, I wait 45 minutes every trip. On average, they forget 3 – 5 items.
The last notable time I was there they forgot both ice-​creams, fries, and a few sandwiches. I spent 20 minutes trying to get their attention, it was absolutely ridiculous. I called out to the runner to try and get his attention and he looks back at me then literally runs for the door to avoid me. I called them, no answer. I went to the window and they kept looking out and not coming to the window in order to avoid me and the other customers there. Eventually I went through the drive-​through again and I was met with ‘What do you want me to do about it?’ Uh… how about give me my 4 dollar shakes? At the time I didn’t know other parts of the order were missing.
This time I ordered 20 Checker burgers and 4 fry lovers, nothing else. At the window, I asked about how long it’d be and some chick in the back yells out, «It’s not like we have 20 burgers laying around!!!» with a huge attitude. So I said, «I understand that, I’m just asking about how long that takes.» If it was going to be 40, I’d have ordered a drink for the wait. Instead she yelled out something about burgers needing to be cooked and it’ll take what it takes. I don’t know or care really.
I don’t know what it’s like to work in a Checkers but either it is the most soul-​sapping work in the world or they only hire assholes. I know people who’ve come back from the war that aren’t as hateful and angry as the people who work at Checkers.
I don’t understand why large orders are sold in pieces to people who come after me. I’m paying 60 – 100 bucks for my food and was there first, but 5 – 32 (on the time I waited an hour and 15 mins) people get served while I wait.
As for the food? Burgers were the same quality as usual but the fries were disgusting. They were using old, burnt oil to fry them in and they were inedible.
Think it might be time to move on. That leaves… oh…one fast food joint on the island worth going to.

Tonight November 4^th, 2015, I had one of the worst experiences ever at a fast food restaurant. Store 3144 in Merritt Island, FL. Order was taken at 935pm. After 10 minutes at the window, we were told to «park over there, someone will bring it out, there’s only 2 of us here.» (There were clearly 4 people visible inside working)
10 more minutes goes by an one of the managers brings out our order after multiple cars have come and gone. Our order was 4 sandwiches and 2 milkshakes. We had been given one shake at the window which was wrong.
I mention to the manager that the shake is wrong and we’re missing the other. Meanwhile, he was eating an ice cream cone on the way to my car. He says «really??» and then walks away. Never saw him again. 5 minutes goes by an we drive back up to the window. I tell the woman what is wrong with the order and she says «so what do you want to do about it?» I said we’d just like what we ordered. Then I hear her yelling to her manager about how long the shake machine is going to take. It’s currently 955pm (20 minutes gone by) and I hear that it’s going to take at least 10 more minutes. So we ask for our money back. She says «i can’t do that, only a manager can. How do YOU think I feel, I’ve been here since 5 without a break!» then says to her manager «You come deal with this» and walks away.
The manager comes over and I express my concern to her and that the employee was giving me a ton of attitude just because I asked for my order to be right. She says «I know, I’ve been dealing with it all night», then she asks me if I want to wait another 10 minutes. I told her that I’ve now been here for 22 minutes for this $ 18 order and that I’d just really like my money back. They ran my card again for the difference and said I’d get refunded the original order and charged for the order minus the shakes.
While the manager is doing this, the employee from earlier is over her shoulder telling her «I can’t handle this stuff, this is ridiculous» in complete earshot of us. I am appalled at the unprofessionalism this store has. I have been parked numerous times for 1 or 2 sandwiches and watch multiple cars go through and get bags of food. We will NOT be back here ever again.

I had the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, which was great. Too bad the drive-​thru was so slow. Our order was ready when we got to the window, so everyone in front must have been changing their order at the window. Only one of two drive-​thru lanes was open.

Never had a bad meal here. This was my first checkers and I’ve been coming back ever since. Fries are always hot and fresh. Burgers are always great, occasionally too much condiments. Service is quick and somewhat friendly. No real complaints.
