Ulta 3 Salon

My first hair cut by Damon was back in September. I absolutely loved the way he cut my hair. Never have I had a stylist take time to study my hair before the shampoo. Not even when I have gone to «celebrity stylists» have they studied my hair.
I did have an appointment for in 8 weeks but when that day came I still loved my hair.
Finally it is 4 months later and I still love my hair but needs a cut. I usually have to trim my bangs a few weeks after a cut but after 4 months I still hadn’t trimmed my bangs.
That’s how well Damon cut my hair. My hair is very short so usually needs a trim sooner than 4 months.
Last night I had my hair cut by Damon and still he took the time to study my hair before shampooing.

Why is it that retail associates either bombard you with «Are you doing OK?» or act annoyed if after 5 minutes strolling an empty store you have to interrupt their conversation to ask for assistance? Since this is my experience at most Ulta’s, (across the U.S.) I avoid them, until this week. After 10 minutes I approached 2 heavily madeup and pierced girls deep in conversation to ask their advice on lip tint. I guess being over 50 makes me not worth their time, as I received very short brisk answers to my questions, not one smile and only one store product was suggested.
Another great annoyance is Ulta’s coupons are only good on drug store items. I can get drug store items cheaper at the drug store. Make the coupon good for anything in the store, at least get me in the door and I MIGHT leave some money in the register.
The one bright side, I found Ulta brand products on my own, for a better value than all the department store brands and may order some online.
Sephora appears the same at first sight, but I’ve always had better service, bye bye Ulta.

I have visited other Ulta locations Chandler Blvd and the 101) and because of the crappy experiences I had I didn’t think I liked Ulta. Although I did like Lacey at the Market street (San Tan, Gilbert) location, but she is a stylist.
The wonderful service I got at this location totally changed my opinion of this store! Amanda (I hope I’m getting the name right!) was very friendly, patient, helpful and knowledgeable. I was on the hunt for a new foundation (again) and wanted to try Bare Escentuals. I tried and hated it… looked like a mask eew! So Paula and I asked Amanda for her advice… luckily she and I are about the same color and she pointed me to Smashbox Halo powder. She demo’d it on me and I loved it. She answered any and all other questions we had and checked up on us frequently.
**Halo didn’t work for me in the end. It was too dark and made me break out after 2 days of use. I have ultra sensitive skin can only use MAC Studio Fix. I don’t know what it is about it, since so many people say how bad it is for your skin? My skin apparently likes bad stuff. Someday I will learn my lesson and stick with what works… someday.
Store #057 is now MY ULTA location (I still love Sephora though)! Thanks a million Amanda… you rock!
