A buffet restaurant with a lot of seating and good amount of food options. I recommend the egg rolls and general talk chicken. They also have a small amount of sushi. Place was loud and mildly chaotic with children at times. Pricing has gone up recently. Her was ghostly empty too.

This place has been around since I was a child and it STILL looks the same. If you’re looking to eat a ton of food for dirt cheap — look no further. As everyone has stated, food is mediocre. Everything kinda tastes the same and it’s all kinda greasy. The American section is nasty, stick to the Asian stuff. Props to the decent sized sushi bar. I usually never dine here — if I’m having cravings I’ll come in for takeout. I really like their sweet crab rangoon. My takeout never exceeds $ 6. It’s not bad here but then again it’s bad. Does that make sense?

I luv Chinese food and this place is the best in Essex county that I have eaten at. Big selection, and just generally good. The only thing I don’t like is that they charge more on Sat then during the week and like most of these buffets, have few dishes with beef in them(1 only).

I dont really like buffets. But this one wasn’t that great. The food wasn’t hot it was warmish but not that great. Some of the food didn’t look good at all. Overall, I wasn’t impressed and I wouldn’t be back

I keep going here. I don’t know why. I guess because I live nearby(poetry is next). Maybe it’s because I’m a mediocre person. Maybe I need therapy. I mean China Buffet is always the same, time after time after time: atmosphere, wait staff and food and«mediocre» is the only word that describes all three. Once committed to an evening of blandness, you struggle across the buffet to find something that might, just might, have flavor. You let your nose lead you. When you get back to your seat, you realized that your search was most definitely in vain. You have a flavorless plate of «whatever». They used to have a Mongolian barbecue, but somehow decided to leave out the«man who barbecues your choice in front of you» and instead put what ever WAS barbecued hours ago near the sushi, which makes the barbecued meat cold. And really, a man who barbecues your choice in front of YOU? Who wants to work that hard? If you order drinks with alcohol, which is an absolute must for sanity’s sake, you might have a nice $ 50 dollar bill when you’re done, making you really hate yourself for landing at China Buffet again. There are a lot of Asian people who basically ignore you in a bland kind of blah way. They pass the time speaking Chinese to one another instead of worrying about you. There are also a lot of fat people feeding off the four mediocre troughs: three troughs of Chinese and one veiled attempt at all American fare which is just as well I’ll let you fill in the blank. One wonders how China Buffet stays in business with these large people basically roosting there all afternoon. When the fat people are done feeding they go over to the ice cream freezer to eat the mediocre ice cream and pastries. When you are done feeding off the troughs, if you could get by the fat people, to get anything, you get to leave, but that could also be difficult because now you have to hunt down your waiter(and he’s expecting a tip? really???). Forgive yourself, you’ve done it again, you thought China Buffet had changed…, you idiot, you bore. China Buffet like the place Dante called, The Inferno, never changes.

Took a while to call our waiter over after finding. A dead spider in my drink. We were there for 10 minutes and then had to pay $ 27. For food we didn’t even eat because I was a bit turned off after finding Charlotte’s Web. Total turn off for an arachnophob

Bring in mind before listening to the others that Chinese buffet could not be super pooper place, well think about it, you are paying 12 $ for more than enough amount of food. Some people don’t like the smell of reheated food, but that is almost in every Chinese restaurant.

Everything was cold and old. This place seemed pretty busy when I walked in, which is usually a good indicator of freshness(but definitely not quality). I was pretty bummed. I’ve been craving dumplings and this was not the spot to get them. They were all rubbery and gross. Dessert was the mediocre highlight. The sesame balls weren’t bad. Ice cream, you can’t really screw up. Same with the premade cakes. My water wasn’t filled up once. I’m dying.

My boyfriend lives in Methuen and comes here regularly. so the other night I decided to try it out with him. I was shocked! I’m from Medford and have yet to discover a «decent chinese buffet place». Up until now they did not exist. China Buffet has an awesome assortment of food, raw bar. sushi, fried foods, noodles, rice, dessert, galore. What I loved was the sushi! Freshly made sushi. OK– It’s no YOKI my favorite sushi place by far in Wellington Station in Medford, but still good. I would def check this place out ! :)

Can you grade something –5 stars? If so, this deserves it. Food court quality grease ridden food. Not for those with GI ailments. The mens room is disgusting. Calking coming off the urinals which are separated from the walls. Service was horrible. I got the check before we were done. I asked for another coke at the time and she proceeded to take the check to add another one on. I said what about free refills. She forgot. Well i forgot the tip… Oh wait, here’s a tip. DON’T EATHERE

It’s your typical all you can eat Chinese food place. Great to bring family. It’s location is great. If you feel that you ain’t too much. There is a gym next door. It is 1 min away from the highway. Food isn’t bad. I have gone on here a lot.

This restaurant is good for lunch during the week. It is fast and has a good variety of good food which changes a little bit periodically. The staff is friendly and cordial, and there is usually no waiting even during peak lunch hours when it is crowded. It’s a good restaurant.

Always love going here with my parents. It’s been open since the mid to late 1990s, I believe and just gets better each year. Nowadays they added the self serve sushi bar as well. Love that!

+: variety of food is great, taste is flavorful(as far as Americanized Chinese food goes, and cheeeeap!!!, in the same strip mall there is a pick ur toppings yogurt store for dessert!!! -: I would give this place 4 stars but it smells!!! I think they need to invest in a dedicated morning of shampooing the rugs and cleaning the booths, etc and it will be overall better!

Tonights dinner choice brought me here. It’s been awhile since I was last here and tonight’s dinner didn’t disappoint. The buffet was hot and fresh and priced right. Simple sushi rolls were on hand. Little neck clams were ok… some shells were cracked and broken making eating them a crunchy experience. The pepper steak was awesome. Fried calimari was delicious. Very big chunks fried to perfection. 5 stars of yummy ness.

I’m not sure if this place used to be better, or if I was just an… undiscerning teenager. I’ll be honest with you: even as said teenager, I’d only ever come here for the sushi, which, though not exactly Masa-caliber, was 1) abundant and 2) pretty palatable for what it was. For a $ 12 or so dinner, it was worth the money. I came here tonight for the first time in six or seven years, expecting the same type of deal. Sadly, I was greeted with a few sorry imitation-crab-cream-cheese-cucumber rolls; there were four or five nearly-empty plates at the sushi station that were never replenished during the hour I spent at China Buffet. Was it because I came at 7:30 instead of earlier on in the evening? I was forced to turn to the main buffet, which wasn’t any better. There was basically no dish turnover. I recall getting up a few times to poke around in the vain hope that something edible would materialize, to no avail: no one ever replaced the crusty, almost empty canister of egg drop soup, or most of the other unlabeled mystery dishes. And, of course, there were the dishes that no one touched: the«apple pie,» sketchy looking pasta, some monstrosity made of spinach and cheese, a random meat dish that sat there on a melamine plate instead of the hot plate… plus, the tongs they had out were greasy as hell. Yuck. I ended up having a bite of greasy lo mein, two florets of broccoli, a sesame ball, a «sugar biscuit,» an off-tasting spicy tiny octopus, one bite of an overly sweet(!) spring roll, a slice of fried plantain, and when I decided to give up, about two and a half french fries. For dessert — because at this point, why not — I picked up a square of red jello and some lychee. If you want to indulge in unhealthy Chinese food, go elsewhere. Sorry, China Buffet.
