Agua Spa at Mondrian South Beach

Me and some friends purchased a groupon deal for the spa & I must say this might be the best massage service I’ve ever had. From beginning to end awesome atmosphere and service. I will be back, not as often as I would like. It’s worth every penny.

I basically flew to Miami just to go to the Spa. I had been before & had bragged about it and wanted to return. I wasn’t disappointed. When I checked in I asked about their specials, they had an hour massage for $ 99.00 during the week. PERFECT. I love it when they book me in on the spot & say I can use their Sauna and relaxation room. It was the best massage Iv’e ever had. I had a wonderful therapist who knew what she was doing & it felt like SILK. I’m telling you. The Spa manager even gave me a present because it was my birthday. I booked myself in the next day & my sister in as well. Hey, if your nice to me, I’ll spread the word!

I have been to the Mondrian several times before, but today was my first time at the spa. My girl friend and I bought the travel zoo deal and we thoroughly enjoyed our spa experience. Since we had an appointment later in the day, we were able to go early and enjoy the pool for a few hours.
Then Tatiana and Mac took care of our massages. Nothing but great things to say about the massages and the staff. They even accommodated for us to share the massage room last minute. The supervisor is so sweet also. She was very friendly and helpful and made the experience so enjoyable for us! Will definitely be back!

I came here for a massage and a facial. Since it’s the Mondrian I had an expectation that the experience would be at least as good as other spas I have been to, however I ended up disappointed.
I asked for a deep tissue massage, but the woman that worked on me gave me a Swedish. I asked her repeatedly to go deeper, but her pressure never really changed. There is a certain feeling one gets after a deep tissue massage, body feels like jelly… It’s the best, but not the result of this «deep tissue» massage.
The massage included a foot massage and a scalp massage both of which ended up being a three or four strokes and pulls before the woman moved on. Definitely not what I would consider a foot or scalp massage… More like a quick rub.
The part that really bummed me out was the facial. I asked the woman at the front if I could book an add-​on facial after the massage and she said «yes» we had a fairly long conversation about the different types of facials and then I told her that I would consult with the woman that would be giving me a facial and choose which one at the time (pretty typical).
Once my massage was over I asked about the facial and no one really knew anything about it. I had to walk in my robe to the front desk and stand in the line to ask (obliterating any relaxing feeling I had gotten from the massage).
At that time she told me she did not understand that I wanted her to book the facial and that the spa was now fully booked but I could come back tomorrow. I was really disappointed.
Another Unilocaler said there were used towels on the floor in the ladies room, I had the same experience.
All in all, I would not go back and I would not recommend this place.

Attendants at pool are rude. Staff at the spa is clueless and not friendly.
The actual spa itself is tiny. There are no attendants cleaning up, towels ALL OVER.
I would never come back here gain.

I have come to the Mondrian many, many times as i used to live right next door. Now i usually go back with friends or husband to Agua, the spa.
I love the hotel as well, we always make a day out of it and hang out by the pool, eat and drink and just relax. Their pool is always a good time.
Now, to the topic at hand, the spa: There are always friendly staff there that are helpful, accommodating and nice and greet you with a smile. Even once when there wa s a big group of us that bough a Groupon deal and wanted to have our services on the same day, we just called and the staff worked with us to accommodate all of us (8).
I have had different services there and they are all top notch. (manicures, pedicures, facials and massages). I am a big fan of their massages.
The place is small but nice and adequate, clean and hip. Very Miami.
The rain shower and steam showers are the best! I love showering there and just enjoying the steam for a while. Very relaxing.
Prices are your usual SoBe prices and they automatically add 18% gratuity to services (typical for Miami Beach too).
Now, i have experienced better and nicer spas but this one is always busy, so i don not get thebad reviews in here.
Mind you, i have had many masseuses there, both men and women and none of them have been awful like the other reviewers comment.
My only complain would be their lighting. I know it is a spa and you don’t want lights shining on your face because that is not conducive to relaxation, but this bad lighting is everywhere in the hotel as well, you literally cannot see anything when you go to the bathrooms in the lobby for example.
Many times after the spa, i have shower and changed there to go out and you cannot see a thing if you want to put makeup on in the ladies locker rooms.
However, i like this spa.

I gave 2 stars because Roland gave me a great massage. I arrived around 1pm for my scheduled 2pm massage. I had had a horrible night and really needed to relax. The receptionist was pretty standard checking me in, she then pointed to where the changing rooms were and all im thinking is «Wow, theres no one to show me in?» I didnt hold this against her, I mean someone has to be in front to greet guests. I blame the spa attendant, who was in the hallway when I walked up but did not offer to show me in or around or anything. I was the only person there at the moment, this is unacceptable to me. Isn’t that her job? I figured out on my own that the shower doubles as a steam room, but with only 2 showers, one of which the steam is broken, the only immediate accessible amenity is the sauna. There is only one restroom, which I used before and after my treatment, but obviously no one cleans here either because there was a huge messy towel in the sink during my entire visit. Seriously?! Someone left the steam door open for the entire hour of my treatment im guessing and the whole changing area was foggy. It was so hot and sticky while trying to change I couldnt believe no one had came in, saw this and aired the place out. The lounge area has no snacks which is disappointing since the amenities leave much to be desired. The couch was so dirty with stains and had so many stray hairs I was comforted by the fact I was using their robe and not sitting in my own clothing. This area needs a detailed cleaning. Immediately. Thank God for Roland who came to get me early for my massage. He gave me a great body scrub also I definitely recommend. I would have told the same receptionist about the horrible locker room service if only she had asked how things were. She didnt, just handed me a reciept with my total due. What did she suddenly become a mute? After she took my money she went back to whatever she was sooo engrossed in on the computer leaving me just standing there. When I asked were we done, she nodded yes, no «yes have a nice day» nothing just a head nod. Great service is instrumental at a spa, this one seriously lacking. I was one of only 3 women there, there’s no reason my needs were not met or even inquired upon. It’s a million spas in Miami, choose one that will appreciate your business, this not being one of them.

Beautiful, white spa… small, but amazing service! My massage was excellent — much needed after hosting a conference at the hotel all week. I would definitely come back next time I visit South Beach!

Was not a guest at the Mondrian, just came to go to the spa.
Loved that you can pay a door price of $ 20 and gain access to the pool, locker room, sauna, and reading room. I decided to go for a $ 35 manicure since I figured I was going to pay the door price anyway. The spa is not large and doesn’t compare to a resort spa, but it’s clean and comfortable. Some friends had issues with one of the shower rooms leaking, but it didn’t really pose a huge problem.
My manicure was awesome! I loved my manicurist and was really happy with the work. It was 7 days before a chip showed up in the polish and I wore it for 2 weeks without too much problem.
The pool was amazing with a great view and wonderful service. This was a great break from the beach :) The servers came by with shots (alcoholic and non-​alcoholic options) and they have a full menu. I would definitely recommend this to anyone passing through Miami.

Let me start by seeing if I can give this place less than 1 star I would. I recently experience Agua Spa with a co-​worker after purchasing a deal on Travel zoo. After a stressful week at work my coworker and I decided to destress with a massage. We were two minutes late, which I understand and because of that we were cut to a 30 minute massage that was suppose to be an hour long that was the beginning of our horrific experience.
My coworker had a male masseuse, which was extremely friendly. Getting very close to her personal parts and making inappropriate comments. As we go back to the locker room they were rushing us to leave and we were unable to enjoy the pool. As we are leaving the rude girl in the front gives my friend a card with her masseuse’s phone number. I think requested the business card of the manager which as of today as yet to respond to my email.
I’m not sure what kind of establishment this is, but I expected a lot more from such a prestigious name. I have told several people not to ever go here and always recommend Lapis.
Hope management reads this and requires all of there employees to take a sexual harassment class and customer service seminar.

This was my first time at the Mondrian. My friends and I purchased a Travelzoo package for a massage, scalp treatment, and pool usage. I personally like the over the top look of the hotel, I mean, it’s South Beach. The spa amenties left something to be desire tho. First, the woman’s locker room. The lockers are located right by the front door to get in. If someone was walking by when the door opens, they could be in for a show. Second, it’s soooooo dark, it would be nice if they lifted the lights so you could see where you are navigating. Also, there is only ONE bathroom in the locker room. I have never been to a spa where there is one restroom! I mean really, you couldn’t spring for two!!! The location of the watiing area for you technician blows too. The sun beams directly into the room. They should have flipped the women’s locker room location and the waiting area. I wasn’t expecting much with the massage, based on all of this, but I was blown away at how relaxing it was. The scalp treatment is seriously a joke, I wouldn’t spring the money for them to run some oil in our hair for five minutes max. I cannot remember the lady I had, but she provided me with one of the most relaxing massages ever. It’s a shame the facilities sucked so I couldn’t give it a higher rating.
Separately, the wait staff and people working at the pool, were incredibly attentive and nice. I had the fish tacos ($ 18), which were the perfect poolside nosh. It’s a hotel in Sobe, so I think the pool menu pricing reflects that to a tee.

By far the WORST massage I’ve ever had in my life.
I finally convinced my BF to try a couples massage with me. I do a bit of research and based on what I read I figured I’d give Agua Spa a try. The facilities are nice, the locker room was descent (nothing special).
We got a couples massage special that included Champagne for two. After being greeted by our masseuses (1 male, 1 female) I should have specified two female therapists were preferred but that was an oversight on my part.
My guy said his masseuse was good. Unfortunately, for me the male therapist I had was just awful. I initially took my hair down since it’s really uncomfortable to have my long hair tied tight when I am trying to relax. He proceeded to tie my hair back up and I took out the hair tie back out & told him it was uncomfortable to please leave my hair alone.
His massage skills were non existent. I really don’t understand how someone can be certified yet give such a crap massage? It was so fast, elbows used in all the wrong places, the combination of too much oil and his fast movements sounded like he was jacking off. The sound was egregiously loud, so loud i couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable knowing my boyfriend is on the table right next to me & hearing all of this! It was just gross.
Once this monstrosity of a massage was over we were suppose to have our champagne, which they forgot. It was such an awful experience. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
I would not recommend despite any incentive or discount they may offer, it is simply not worth it.

Had an amazing experience at the spa. Had a 1 hour deep tissue massage and body scrub in the wet room… amazing!!! Been to several of the finest spas in Miami and this is one of my favorites! Thank you Silvia!

I had an incredibly memorable experience @ Agua Spa for my birthday in February. The place was pristine and quiet, the staff was superb in every way. Helpful, attentive, courteous and very sweet. Marie and Lucy helped me checking in ad out of my appointment, which was really wonderful. I had a deep tissue massage by Roland and he was Awesome! Very strong and thorough, just the way a therapeutic massage should be. He also did a lavender salt scrub which of course was divine. I then enjoyed the sauna in the men’s lounge and felt rejuvenated. I planned to use the pool but it was raining that day, so Marie and Lucy gave me a pool pass to use anytime during the year! I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve had many massages in my life but the massage that Ronoldo gave me at Agua was AMAZING!!! By far the best massage I’ve ever had. He is the best and I only wish he was in NY! The spa was clean, accommodating and friendly. It is a little small but after all it is a boutique hotel. I love this place, def recommend!

If it were any other town, my experience would have been outrageously unacceptable. But I was living in Miami and quickly learned that nothing there is worth what you pay and service is an unrecognized foreign custom.
The worst part was the massage. My deep tissue massage was just awful because my masseuse guy was near-​fetish obsessed with rubbing my ass. I actually would have felt a bit nervous about the situation if my cousin wasn’t next to me getting a massage from someone else. I asked quite a few times for him to focus on my shoulders and neck so that he would quit grabbing and squeezing my butt. When I pulled my hair off my neck he whispered into my ear «Don’t worry. I won’t mess up your hair.»
So now this guy is kneading my ass like dough and whispering into my ear. And when I scratched my nose, he whispered in my ear AGAIN and asked «Do you have boogers?» I am not kidding you.
Now, I didn’t totally freak out and complain to the spa because none of this came off as threatening or harassing. It was just weird and awkward and a little pathetic.
Anyway, obviously I couldn’t wait to get out of there and into the showers. The shower and steam room are pretty unimpressive. And when I walked out into the locker room, some other guy was in there picking up towels because they were closing in a half hour. Wtf? This is a women’s locker room at a spa!
Oh, and the fountain in the waiting room makes weird stacatto plopping sounds. Exactly like poop splashing into a toilet. I hate this place.

I bought a TravelZoo deal for myself and girlfriend. We got a massage and a facial. Both services were good. The spa design ties in nicely with the hotel vibe. Lots of white marble, mirrors and interesting tone on tone patterns. It’s a very pretty spa but somehow the marble and white just make the place feel a little cold (not to mention the AC in the lounge).
The staff is top notch. Friendly. Approachable. Professional. You won’t find any Miami attitudes here. From the minute we walked in, we felt welcomed and relaxed. We changed into our robes and slippers and headed to the lounge. My girlfriend said Roland did a great job. I had Sylvia who gave me a little extra tension relief even though we were only doing a Swedish. It was very appreciated. There is a nice little heated neck pillow and hot towel on your feet towards the end. Would I pay $ 120 for the service? Probably not but for a TravelZoo voucher it was just fine.
We then headed off to our facial. I had Marie. She did a really great job. I usually do not like facials. I have sensitive skin which leaves me red and blotchy after a facial. This is the one of the few times where my skin actually looked BETTER after the facial. THIS I would pay full price for. Its worth every penny.
After our services we headed down to the pool but more on that in another review. Overall the spa experience was good, not spectacular but a good option if you’re in South Beach!

When I walked into the Mondrian, I felt like like a million bucks. This place oozes sexiness & sophistication but the crowd isn’t as pretentious as the likes of Fontainebleau.
The pool area & bar is WHITE. Pretty cool how they maintain their décor. I know the facilities staff must work their butts off. Might I mention id never been to the ‘west side’ of south beach. Its still a nice view from the pool to the intercoastal.
The front desk was attentive & promptly directed me to the spa. Upon arrival, I was given keys to my locker along with a terry robe & slippers. My masseuse
, forgive me I forgot his name, had some magical hands. I had a full hour-​long massage with a salt scrub treatment. He did not skimp on me which I thought could happen because I had purchased it via travelzoo. I was impressed though. Post-​massage I was in such a state of zen. To get the salt scrub off I rinsed in their shower. another great experience.
In brief, just get your butt in here!

I am a super fan of aqua Spa! It’s perfectly located in the heart of south beach inside of the Mondrian Hotel. I have tried about everything in the spa menu and I totally love everything. The fact that I can have a glass of champagne and mani/​pedi at the same time is a plus! The massage rooms are cold and comfy, and I always had a great experience with my masseur, the facials are really good and the products they use does miracle in my skin.

The spa doesn’t have a indoor jacuzzi, i would prefer if they did have it, but they do have a sauna and steam rooms.
The spa is serene and it is perfect for a «me day ».

I’ve been wanting to visit the Mondrian for a while. But, I got the impression that this place is so swanky and expensive that I would be charged just for breathing their air, or for lingering too long on the sidewalk for admiring the elaborate shrubbery and black and white filigree on the walls outside.
This of course is not true and I experienced impeccable service from the time I walked through their glass lobby doors. I took the elevator to the third floor, walked through another pair of glass doors & was greeted by a nice blonde woman in white behind a a desk that looked like it had been carved out of a giant disco ball.
I had an appointment for their only $ 99 Miami Spa Month special*, a 60 min. Earth Facial + 30 min. Milk & Honey massage (w/​20% gratuity = $ 118). My spa specialist, Emma, led me down a hallway covered in a variety of vertical white crown molding to the women’s locker room where I changed into a posh white robe and black rubber slippers.
The treatment rooms and comfy massage tables were whitewashed as well. My face felt like a canvas for a series of artistic treatments including a deep pore cleanser, an enzyme exfoliant, and a kashmir mask. While the mask worked it’s magic, the rest of my arms, shoulders and hands were treated to a simple massage. (Agua uses an über exclusive/​expensive organic skin care line called själ.)
Next came Agua’s signature milk & honey massage. Apparently, honey has been used medicinally for over 2,000 years, and have been used to keep skin looking fresh and reduce the effects of aging. Both products have moisturizing properties.
Emma was slow and deliberate, concentrating small areas at a time, working in the warm honey/​sesame oil mixture and then wiping it clean with a hot towel combined with evaporated milk. The sweet smell really made me crave a honey-​drizzled croissant.
I was a bit sticky afterwards so I spent some time in the «fun-​sized» steam room. I spent a little more time drying off in the cedar-​walled sauna before heading out to the pool. (Each room isn’t much bigger than a walk-​in closet but that didn’t matter since I was the only one there.)
As soon as I stepped outside, a friendly attendant immediately brought me fresh towels. I picked a chair facing the bay and indulged in a chapter or two of my book before going back to the spa to settle up.
Bonus points for showing love to the locals! The spa receptionist gave me a card that gets me 30% off any other treatments I book there within the next year. I will definitely be back before that card expires!

My visit to this spa was a VERY pleasant one. My boyfriend surprised me with a day at the spa here at the Mondrian, and I am oh so thankful for it!
The spa design is very tranquil — lots of white walls and accents, with gorgeous larger-​than-​life furniture (see my pic). It is very easy to just relax and unwind here.
The services I received were mani/​pedi, full body massage with a scalp massage, and a facial. The manicure and pedicure were the coolest. I got a french mani/​pedi and the nail tech started by painting the whole bottom of my nail with the white, and then shaping the white tip with a brush, I had never seen that before and I thought it looked so nice, almost like I had acrylics on or something — very cool technique. The massage was the BEST massage I have ever had at ANY spa — anywhere! My masseuse was Maria, and everyone should request her, because her massages are amazingly relaxing! Lastly, my facial. The facial was pretty standard, can’t rant or rave too much about it, 3 stars on the facial because none of the creams or cleansers smelled really good, and I think that’s important. In between each treatment you wait in a men/women’s lounge with comfortable couches and peaceful music playing.
One of my favorite parts of spending the day at the spa is being able to shower there and leave refreshed and clean! The showers were steam showers with the rainfall shower head above you and another shower head in front of you, so the water comes at you from both directions with a nice relaxing pressure. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were infused with delicious aromas that together with the steam, were amazing!
I would definitely love to come here again… and again… and AGAIN!
