We came here with my dad while he was in town. I think this is a perfect place to sit down, have lunch and look at the water. We both had the caesar said. I wasn’t a big fan of the meat on my dads plate, but I got the crabs and it was absolutely to die for. Overall a little pricey but a really good place.

Great food and atmosphere, plus what’s better than eating right by the Beach. It’s a little pricey but if you like steak it’s a must try at least once — but I can’t promise you won’t want to go back after the first bite. Yummy — They also have great soups and salads

Had a lovely luncheon there. The menu was varied. We had the lobster blt which was delicious on a soft brioche type roll with sides of cole slaw & homemade potato chips. Steak sandwich was delicious as well with a tangy mustardy sauce. All was well except the waiter was too chummy with our lady friend making her uncomfortable. Also they cleaned off the table so quick we couldn’t stay a while longer to enjoy the food & finish nibbling on our side dishes. It’s not that there was a rush to get in(brunch people who never leave), lots of open tables available. Great location & setting.

I recommend sitting outside. The view is amazing. Went here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and had the Angry Shrimp, Oscar style Filet and the Cobb salad. Everything was delicious! I also had a Bloody Mary which was perfect! The service was superior and the food and view were amazing!

DONTWASTEYOURTIME!!! There are better places to eat an average steak and mashed potatoes. I had to send my rib in fillet back because it wasn’t cooked correctly, but that was just the beginning. My husband sitting across from me had red wine from the next table spilled on him and his tan leather jacket. The response was beyond unprofessional! Not only did we not hear an apology but the waiter told us ‘it’s fine it will go away’. When we spoke to the manager who was forced to apologize and promised to take care of the dry cleaning bill, it was like pulling teeth. When we received the bill we noticed that our waiters tip had been taken away as punishment instead of the restaurant discounting us! We were DISGUSTED!!! We will never come back. Mediocre food and TERRIBLE service!!!

Two words: Angry shrimp Once a upon a time when I ate meat, I used to love the steak at S&W, now that I don’t, it has been like rediscovering all restaurants as I am trying new things. The Angry shrimp was fantastic, it is a Cajun style dish. 5 huge shrimps served over a bed of mashed potatoes. It is a very flavorful and tasty dish. For starters, we had the split pea soup which was really tasty, a Caesar salad & the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Definitely recommend! One last thing, I went there for my boyfriend’s birthday and the wait staff was very attentive and so nice… they brought him out a chocolate soufflé with ice cream and sang happy birthday at no charge. The service and food were great!

I am a local and came in tonight for the first time to see if it was worth the hype. I ordered a virgin mojito because I’m doing sober January and was very happy with the drink. For dinner, I ordered the Wollensky salad with chicken and while it was very pretty to look at, it was NOT tasty. The dressing tasted like bad mayonnaise. I didn’t want to be a pest and send it back, so I just ate the chicken and mushrooms. I expected it to be much better considering this is their signature salad. I was very disappointed and still have a nasty aftertaste in my mouth from it(despite grabbing a mint on my way out). The only reason I didn’t give this place a 1 star rating is because the service was good, the salad came out quickly, and my mojito was good. Unfortunately, I don’t plan to return. :(

Sitting out back on the water you have vies of the water and fisher island as well as the sidewalk views of the people going back and fourth to the park. The food is pricy but good. We only had the carpaccio on this visit but it was very good. Paired it with their house Meritage for an outstanding meal. Looking forward to coming back for dinner and trying the steaks. I am sure this will be bumped to a 5 after that.

Worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Waiter forgot about us, they did not have bread. They messed up our drinks, the drinks were horrible. The food was also bad. Tuna Tartare was not as fresh as it should be. We ordered the bone in rib eye medium rare and it came well done. Asked for another one it took 30 mins. We asked for the check and left, manager took the drinks of the bill but never came out to apologize or explain. The new work cut we ordered was also just ok. Would not recommend. Other then the view really disappointed.

My family and I were vacationing in Miami Beach during Thanksgiving and decided to have Thanksgiving dinner at S&W. I checked out the Thanksgiving menus at several places, but went with S&W because I really liked that they had all the traditional dishes: turkey, beet salad, squash soup, pie, etc… Our turkey dinner was timed perfectly and each course served with care. The turkey was great, it was moist and not dried out. Wish there had been a bit more gravy. Beet salad was good, squash soup was good. I wasn’t a fan of the weird paper thin stack of potatoes(whatever happened to good old mashed potatoes!?) and I didn’t like the stuffing that much either. But by far, the worst thing on the plate was the cranberry sauce — I couldn’t tell you what weird spice they added to it to completely ruin it, but ruin it they did. Definitely go with the pecan pie for dessert, the pumpkin is not good. The pecan was phenomenal and I ate it even though I was stuffed. Our server was totally old school and treated us well. Our view by the water couldn’t get any better. For entertainment, do be sure to check out the fat cats out back by the water behind the restaurant… they’re obese because I guess people keep feeding them their S&W leftovers… nice life they must have eating steak all the time!

Straight up meat and potatoes house and that’s ok. Great ambiance and views of water. Very traditional handsome décor which reminds me of their original NY locale– it seems like sort of an escape from the modern, sunny, light, colorful Miami vibe– which is oddly refreshing for a NYer. The handsome bar is a great mingling water hole. The service and staff are characteristically elegant but rough around the edges so you feel at home. Very friendly and joking demeanor the few times I’ve dined here. Cuban waiters give a unique feel to the experience. Also they are good waiters up selling drinks and desserts to the point of agreeing! I don’t eat meat do I had to opt for salmon for the kale. We ordered cream spinach and pea soup: non veg :/. I hope they read my review and jet the chef know to go easier in the salt and play up the subtle aromas and inherent taste of the food. Please let your server know«no salt» or suffer the consequences. Good variety of food let’s you stay away from meat but it is a steak house so know this. It’s like going to Peter Lugers and ordering the sides. S&W is a tad more diverse in their offerings in this sense. I will return and hope I myself remember to ask — no salt, no meat please :) PS I do find the $ 10 valet to be very tacky indeed. Really? That lops a star off in my view.

I’d give the food a 5 stars, but the atmosphere a 3 stars. Great wine menu with a little something for every taste and budget. The Misto Frito is yummy but the only item where I felt the portion size was small. Had the tenderloin trio — one pepper encrusted, one covered with gorgonzola cheese, and the third roasted with bone marrow. Meat was very tender and yummy. At our table we also had the dry-aged, Cajun Ribeye, Bone in ribeye, and the Filet Oscar. All entrees were very tender, cooked perfectly, and presented beautifully. For sides we had the Grilled Asparagus and Truffle Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was awesome. We split the two sides between 4 people and it was plenty. Now the downside… Upon entering the restaurant you get an old musty smell. It’s clean, but dated. We had a reservation so we were able to sit outside but there were three fat, black cats roaming our area for scraps all evening. They pulled two tables together to accommodate our group of four but the tables were different heights and VERY wobbly. Even after they supposedly fixed the tables we had to take turns holding it still. Food is very good, but restaurant needs a little love to continue being considered fine dining

Visited S&W to celebrate my fiancé and I’s engagement. Although the restaurant wasn’t packed on a Sunday night, I would still recommend making a reservation to guarantee seating indoors. Outdoor seating is at a first come, first serve basis(no reservations), but you run the risk of being rained out, which is what happened to last night’s guests. For starters the restaurant has a nice Old Key West/fisherman’s wharf charm to it — lots of wooden features, beautiful view of the ocean, and romantic dim lighting all throughout. Our party of six got seated right away in a table with a great ocean view. The seating situation was a bit cramped as we were a bit squished together whilst surrounded by other tables(it didn’t help that it was unbearably hot), but the server did his best to make us comfortable. Although we didn’t get to see the sun set, we witnessed a nice lighting and rain storm roll in along with the Bimini Superfast pulling up to port. As for our drink of choice, we opted for their $ 35 red wine flight selection which included 2oz pours of four different red wines, some of which ran in the $ 200 range. Although a bit pricey, the $ 35 did go towards the Alzheimer’s Association so I found that to be a nice touch. Should you prefer whites, they had the same flight available for $ 25 instead. We came in to try their Miami Spice menu during our visit and started off with the Wollensky famous split pea soup with garlic croutons. The soup was to die for — creamy, thick and full of flavor, and you could really taste the garlic in the croutons. My fiancé opted for their burrata salad which fell short of expectations — about four slices of tomato which weren’t nice and red(more of that watery, light red kind) with a dollop of mozzarella cheese, and the slightest drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze. Although he found it tasty, he regretted not going for the soup. My MIL went for the iceberg lettuce wedge that came with a heaping serving of bacon chunks — so good! Needless to say my fiancé was jealous. For our main course the table ordered the 8oz steak with whipped potatoes. It was delicious but I wouldn’t say it was anything too mind blowing. Last but not least, dessert! The options were either a coconut cake or a chocolate cake. This time it was my turn to be jealous as my fiancé’s chocolate cake totally trumped my coconut one. The coconut cake was pretty standard to say the least, whereas the chocolate one was rich and topped with a delicious chocolate mousse. What I took from the experience: the food was good but I wouldn’t say it was anything too out of this world, especially for the price. Where some dishes shined, others were lackluster.

NPS = 10! Service, service, service! THAT is what makes a great restaurant that serves an AMAZING product go to the next level. When anyone thinks of a great steak, they think S&W. It’s a staple on the beach, I mean c’mon…their address is 1 Washington Ave. That has to be the best address ever. But I digress. The GM at S&W(Henry Delgado) has to be one of the most thoughtful and welcoming General Managers I have ever met. He even came to our table on a busy day for our business Christmas lunch just to meet everyone. Service with class and a smile. The tables were simple and elegant. The drink glasses were spotless. The steak? I’ll get to that in a second. Everything was great. I ordered the 10oz filet mignon a perfect Pittsburgh rare. It was ONPOINT. Talk about butter… the thing simply melted once it hit my lips. The creamy butter based sauce that came with the steak added a pinch of extra goodness to the already delectable dish. The charring on the steak’s exterior made every bite enjoyable. The creamed spinach was a nice touch. I recommend that as a side and you cannot go wrong with a slice of coconut cake for dessert. Order an espresso as well and top it off with a smooth cigar sold in their shop. You are in for a treat, my friend. Congrats, S&W. You have made me a fan.

I’ve always wanted to come here. I had super high expectations; and I was disappointed, but I wasn’t impressed either. Service was attentive, not pleasant. Vincent was so warm as he led me to a beautiful table facing the water. The restaurant is large, spacious and beautiful! It’s a romantic ambiance! My 24oz bone-in ribeye steak was big enough to share and pretty tasty, but needed to be seasoned better. My lobster tail was tiny. Wanted more than 6oz. Butter wasn’t warmed, but dipping the steak and lobster in it was tasty! Blue Point Oysters were fantastic. Classic. Split pea soup was delicious, but I wish it had chunks of bacon like the classic recipe. They have their own label of wine that was delicious; a Meritage. Light red, not many tannins, easy to drink. Followed that with a single-malt scotch, Oban 14. A smokier scotch that what I’m used to, but great! Complimentary birthday dessert was actually so good! If they’re free, they usually suck. Happy surprise! Paired that with a Frangelico Cappuccino. So we feasted and enjoyed the evening. But I wasn’t impressed with the food. It was just alright. The ambiance was dreamy, though. We had a great time.

When you hear the name Smith & Wollensky, you think lavish and good steak. This was somewhat the case. I went for the first time for Miami Spice and was expecting to be completely wowed. They were accommodating in getting us immediate seating on the sunset deck, but it seemed like the service just started to go downhill from there. The deck was pretty, but we were tucked into a corner. When we requested to move tables because we saw an open one close to the balcony we were told we could move. Moments after sitting down we were then kicked out of the table by the manager. Bad start. On the Miami Spice menu I went with the split pea soup(excellent, but I didn’t think it was the best one I ever had considering it’s their ‘famous’ soup). I had the filet mignon. Again, excellent quality. The steak definitely lived up to the ranting and raving. I’m not a huge steak eater, but it seriously melted in my mouth. That came with mashed potatoes, which was just OK. As dessert I got the molten chocolate cake. It was delicious, as is anything with chocolate involved, but it was rather average. Also, I should say, the ice cream was already completely melted by the time the dessert arrived. Throughout the entire meal, the waiters around us must have dropped the entire kitchen cabinetry on 20 different occasions. They stroll around with these large carts that carry the food, but they don’t really seem to pay attention when the utensils start falling off. It was quite disruptive and annoying to hear dishes constantly dropping. Our waiter was nice, but a bit pushy at times. It was a nice meal, but latest way too long. We were a party of 4 and we were there for over 3 hours. Overall, great food but the experience and ambience was not all it was cracked up to be. I’m not running back any time soon.

I do recommend this place for a nice evening in a nice place. Outside by the water is nice in the evening, no mosquitoes… HOWEVER the service fell short. We ordered the ribeye –in pic– we specifically asked that the meat come pink in the middle and charred on the outside. They said of course no problem… Well it came overdone. This is one of their staples and still it came overdone. Yes they took it back but I’m almost sure it came overdone because server didn’t really listen to our request. The other meat that one of our friends asked was also overdone. So that’s 2 for 2. We said ok no problem. It happens, I guess it shouldn’t be since its a staple $ 50 something menu item– but it did and we got over it. The worst part came at the end. We split the check, no problem there. We put the tip on 2 receipts taking the total so the tip was about $ 80. I had to pay $ 50 on my end. They guy was hovering behind me and since we put the tip on the other papers he actually stopped me from giving him the signed receipt and grabbed by hand and pen and said: aren’t you going to add a tip? WHAAAAAAT?!? Not only did we leave about $ 80 in tips even though we had to return BOTH main courses but NO! You’re not supposed to 1. Ask for tips. 2. Hold my hand and pen and stop me from giving you the receipt without a tip. This is supposed to be a top rated high end restaurant. Please act accordingly.

A top-tier King’s ocean view outside, coupled with a rich, all wood, brass and glass interior must be backed up by excellent food. And, Smith & Wollensky’s has the goods. A truly delicious portfolio of dishes starts with a glass of fine wine in your hand, and the breathtaking aqua-marine port staring right at you. You must realize the value of the experience, and leave the calculator at home. Every item on the menu is worthy of the word«signature». My favorites: Succulent and Tangy ‘Angry Shrimp’, Cognac Mustard & Ginger sauced lump«Crab Cake», and a Gorgonzola encrusted, Bone-in, Aged perfectly… New York Strip. All of this being said, the meseros can sometimes let the place get to their heads. If that is not the problem, having to deal with pretentious tourists from pretentious places can also sometimes preempt an otherwise joyous server’s well intentioned service. Just take another sip of that fine beverage and enjoy what is before you… Afterwards, stroll on down to the South Pointe Park Pier and delight in the creations around.

How have I never reviewed S & W? Crazy, not that I visit frequently but I have been to quite a few events here and dinner on several occasions. This place so deserves five stars. Each and every visit is spectacular! They have been at this location for a very long time. They sure know how to pick prime location because overlooking the Bay and Fisher Island can never get old. I really like the décor as you feel like you are in a mansion with many rooms, nooks, wooden floors, old world décor with a nice touch of class. Last weekend hubby wanted to take his Managers to dinner with their spouse’s to show them his appreciation of all their hard work. Of course no one complained on picking S & W. We had reservations but hubby and I wanted to hang at the bar before everyone got there so we arrived early. We sat at the bar and was greeted by Joe, an awesome Irish bartender who has been there from day one. He is so sweet, knows how to make a cocktail and of course he is so funny! He gave us incredible service and we so enjoyed hanging with him and having some cocktails before dinner. Our party arrived and the hostess took us to our table. We sat inside in front of a window so we had a lovely view. This particular evening it was quite windy so we were glad we chose to dine inside. Our two servers from start to finish were superb! They never missed anything, water, drinks got refilled, plenty bread was brought to our table throughout the evening. We started with a seafood appetizer customized to what we wanted. It had oysters, shrimp, tuna and crab on the very lovely platter. Of course everything was super fresh. What stood out the most? The crab meat, wow huge chunks of some of the tastiest crab I have ever had. I wanted to take it lal but I played nice and shared. Our table ordered all kinds of different entrée’s. A couple had the Filet and Lobster which looked incredible. I chose my usual Filet. We had mushrooms, hash-browns, and truffle mac n cheese for the table as sides that we all shared. I can only say the food here is delicious! Yes you pay the price but you get impeccable food and excellent service. My Filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare and it had so much flavor. LOVED it. Everyone enjoyed their dinner very much. We finished the evening with a Chocolate cake for the table to share. Of course it was also a big hit. S & W, and Capital Grille will always be two of my most treasured Steakhouses. This is a must try for visitors or for a lovely high quality meal. Thank you to the entire staff and hugs to our bartender Joe!

Although I am extremely sick today, it is my anniversary with my fiancé and he decided to take me to Smith. How oh how could a girl refuse? as usual, the service was superb, And the food delectable. We were greeted immediately as we arrived in seated near the windows with a beautiful view. In a matter of moments, we were handed Our menus and served water while we browsed the menu. I ordered the crab with Filet mignon and my fiancé ordered the ribeye steak. Both were cooked to the perfect temperature! The truffle mac & cheese, as always, it was spectacular. The mushrooms in wine sauce are a perfect complement to the perfect steak. Between the food, wine, view, and servants how could anyone go wrong coming here? If I were rich I would come every weekend. however, it is perfect for those special occasions that you want to make memorable.
