Great place to come with on a date or a bunch of friends and get some cocktails. The drinks tasted good and weirdly enough even smelt amazing: O The ambiance is perfect for chilling, low key environment and an outdoor setting. The staff is pretty amazing and very knowledgeable about the drinks. They have a few munchies and the combination of any of those and your drink is just perfect! FYI — if your expecting to come here and get pretty wasted with the cocktails, this is not the place. :) Highly recommend on anyone’s visit to Miami. Definitely one of the those places which seemed less like a tourist trap and just a place you want to come and hang out with friends. I will definitely come here on my next visit to Miami!

This used to be my favorite happy hour place. Drinks, food and service was outstanding. Tonight they were playing 1950’s music. It was awful. I couldn’t wait to get my check to leave.

Always friendly staff, delicious drinks, and eclectic mix of euro hipsters, elderly Spanish abuelas, and the average joe-smcho. Average Miami Beach pricing. Strong work.

Broken shaker is one of the few spots in Miami that is casual and good eats/drinks as well. The dress code is super casual so wear whatever(we saw a group of girls from the hostel next door wearing PJs at the upstairs bar). Next the drinks: craft cocktails, decent prices and good service=winner. I had a spicy, tequila mix and it was usual and delicious. My friends had old fashions, Moscow mules, and another which I can’t remember but we all ordered a second round before heading downstairs for dinner. Finally dinner, we all had the specials of the evening, the best was an Asian curry with coconut rice. Also had a kale salad that was awesome. Finally, we had a brownie fudge sundae that was great too. I would recommend this place because the service was great as well.

I have a rather ingrained habit of going to new cities and homing in on bars and restaurants that could easily exist in my pockets of Los Angeles. It’s a pretty provincial way to travel – not all that dissimilar, really, from the naïve tourist family at an Applebee’s in Times Square – but it does tend to ensure that I have a good time. Broken Shaker is not only a top notch cocktail bar with great yipster-pandering atmosphere, it’s opening a new branch in L.A. within the next year. I also ran into someone I knew from high school who was in town from Atlanta because we all know how to use Unilocal.None of this stopped me from going twice in a two-day trip. We went on a Friday night at 8:30 and a Sunday afternoon at 4, and both times the place was just perfect. I guess Miami nightlife doesn’t get going until pretty late, so my husband Matt B. and I grabbed choice seats right at the bar on our first visit. We held onto them for three rounds of drinks, and by the time we left, the bar and the outdoor patio were packed with a long line of people waiting outside the Freehand. I’m sure I would’ve liked this place less if we’d come at 11, but that’s usually the case with popular bars. Off hours(8:30 on a Friday night counts!) are always best, particularly when you’re old and just want to sit down and talk to your husband. The Sunday afternoon crowd was pretty calm, too, and we took advantage of the lovely, sunny patio with a couple of friends. Service was great both times. We got to chat with Brian and Bobby when we sat at the bar for almost three hours, and they were both friendly and super good at making drinks. The cocktails were fantastic. There were about a dozen on the menu, and the bartenders were able to make plenty off menu, if nothing struck your fancy. My fancy was struck, and I have a feeling that the cocktails on offer were better than what people were ordering otherwise(based on my observations, mostly well drinks that didn’t require these bartenders’ talent). I’m not sure there’s a permanent cocktail menu, as the list split into«monthly» and«seasonal.» We ended up trying most of them – hope they’re there when you look for them. The monthly menu included the Favela Chic, my favorite cocktail of the bunch. This was made with Leblon cachaca, apple brandy, bay leaf tincture, green apple, black pepper honey, and citrus. It was complex and interesting, but very refreshing and easy to drink. I also appreciated The Midnight Hour, which brought rye whiskey shaken with Smith & Cross, cherry bomb ponzu, Fernet Vallet, apricot, pineapple, and lime. A nice, smooth, boozy drink. Rosa’s Cantina was a lighter option, a fruity gin drink made with Beefeater, strawberry, thyme, dry curacao, and vermouth. We got more drinks off the seasonal menu, and there were a few real knockouts. I loved the Pecker Peeper, a balanced, savory cocktail of Bombay dry gin shaken with Lillet Blanc, bell pepper, bee pollen honey vinegar, and lemon. Bell pepper and vinegar are great with gin, apparently. The Sorry Donald was another winner, made with Viejo Indeciente mezcal, Mellow Corn, tamarind, cinnamon, lime, and Modelo Especial. This was very smooth and refreshing, the smokey burn of mezcal mellowed out by the other ingredients. Also on the refreshing side of things was the Dill Pill, a great, flavorful cocktail for daytime patio drinking, with Wodka vodka, Old Simon genever, riesling, pineapple, dill, hopped grapefruit bitters, celery bitters, and sparkling water. For something stronger, I’d recommend the Golden Afternoon, a strong, pleasantly bitter one with dandelion root-infused bourbon stirred with sorghum, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, and floral mist. The only drink in this bunch I was vaguely indifferent to was the Candyland Remix, made with Spanish brandy, dry vermouth, pomegranate molasses, curacao, cardamom, citrus, and egg white. It wasn’t bad, just kind of sharply sweet. There were also daily cocktails and punch options for $ 7. We tried a nice bourbon mule and a splendid cachaca rosemary punch, which Brian actually gave us shots of on the house to round out our first visit. I know Broken Shaker is coming to my town, but I have no regrets about going twice on my trip to Miami. It was a great bar with quality drinks and wonderful atmosphere, and I look forward to checking it out when it opens in Los Angeles.

What a cool space — honestly I could have spent an entire day there. Try the daily punch, when we went it was excellent! Plenty of space, a low key, relaxing vibe, great drinks and not that awful prices.

Bar: Broken Shaker Summary: Ok, so here is one great bar. In fact, as a pure cocktail-drink snob bar this is the best on South beach, and one of the best in Miami. You walk in and get a little wtf feeling, as it is located in the back of an upscale hostel, but when you get through the lobby and into the courtyard you will feel the chill vibe. This is basically an outside bar by the pool, however don’t think south beach pool bar. This isn’t a bikini rocking DJ place. This is high quality craft cocktails, made by some pretty outstanding bartenders. There are plenty of tables and chairs all with tree cover and dimly lit at night. Always can meet some cool people and enjoy some good food at the attached restaurant. Cost: Moderate, but not horrible. ~10−15 for a cocktail Service: The bartenders are excellent, and highly respected. They constantly change the specials and area always bringing something new an exciting to the table. Ambiance: Very cool outdoor bar. The bar itself is very eclectic. Outside is kind of like an oasis with Christmas lighting overhead. It is easy to talk to one another as it is not that loud and there are a lot of little nooks around the courtyard to What they do well: Cocktails. If they have the time, ask them to make a gin fizz. One of the best gin fizz’s I have ever had was here. Where they need to improve: Ok, so this has happened only once, but it was a little off putting. The line management has to get better. I had no problem getting in but watching others it was obvious the guy was just making it up as he went, randomly picking people to enter. Score: The bartenders, drinks, and ambiance more than makes up for the one line issue. Easily a 5 star.

The coolest bar I’ve ever been to. Probably. Drinks were fantastic. We got the Midnight Hour, Rosa’s Cantina and a couple Crotch Rockets. They were all delicious, but the Crotch Rocket was my favorite. Ambience is perfect for what we wanted for a late night chill spot.

Broken Shaker reminded me of the hipster places back home in San Diego. Great outdoor ambiance and music selection. The hand crafted cocktails weren’t too bad either. So many to choose from! We were immediately sat and a server greeted us within minutes. It wasn’t crowded granted we were there on a Monday night but it was still poppin’! I’d recommend this place Including the sister restaurant next door. Try the arepas!

Fun and chic location, but this place is def over hyped. So many people that you have to wait in line behind 4 people and are let in as people leave. Cocktails tend to be sweet. The décor is cute and kitchy, there is also a garden outside and a fab pool area. I hear even a resto out there, but could not see among allllll then ppl everywhere. I’d suggest coming by during an off night or time of the day where you can actually soak it up and enjoy it.

Chill vibe and delicious drinks. The punch was the way to go. It was super refreshing and tasty. The staff were great — we stayed in talking to them while they were closing up. The crowd was all around mid 20’s to 30’s. The outdoor patio area is so cute. But I love any place with twinkle lights, so maybe I’m biased. It was busy, so we couldn’t find any spots to sit so we went to the upstairs bar with our drinks and sat out on the patio. I love the upstairs area with its vintage décor. The lights were turned down low and there were candles everywhere. Cozy couches and chairs. Definitely come here if you’re looking for a place to start your night or just a chill place to hang out!

Amazing, amazing bar. Apparently they’re opening a Brooklyn location soon! I would recommend all of the drinks, the«sorry trump» and cauldron juice especially. If you don’t find anything you like, the bartenders are more than happy to create a custom drink for you. If you’re visiting from out of town and end up at a hotel with the address listed… You’re in the right place. Just walk to the back where there is a lounging area, pool and two bars — the one in the front for boozing and the back for eating.

I love this place. From the custom cocktails served, to the chill miami beach ambiance, this place is a great option for a night out. I’ve been here on several occasions, and have always had a great time. The bartenders make some of the most stellar cocktails, and yes, it comes with some SoBe pricing, but all in all, worth it. My only down-side has been when coming on a busy night, and needing to wait in line for a good 20 minutes to get in. I’m too old for that!

GREAT place… probably our favorite in south beach. Amazing atmosphere by the pool, and you have options whether to go to the upstairs bar for beer or the outside bar for mixed drinks. The specials and punches are always good, and pretty well priced(even cheaper if you’re staying there). The place looks beautiful and is perfect for taking a few pictures when you’re there. The crowd was best around 12am and died down by 2am. The crowd is mixed between people who have found this hidden gem, and international travelers that are staying in the attached hostel. You’ll meet some really interesting people, have some great drinks, and enjoy a great atmosphere. This is a must-visit.

Went here after I’ve heard so many great things about the cocktails. Yes, the cocktails were crafty and delicious. The bartender was friendly and looked like he enjoyed his job. The scene is definitely casual and interesting. A tiki bar with nearby hotel pool with hotel guests sunbathing. Outside seating makes for great lounging. However, beware that others around you may be smoking.

I think they do a great job here piecing together interesting artwork and decorations. You really get the hostel vibe here, where you’re transformed to a new location that’s both private, intimate, and the best backyard party ever. In the middle of the day it feels like a garden party, with enough privacy for everyone to enjoy their separate brunches, but enough people mingling where it feels like you’re a guest somewhere. The decorations are vibrant, and the drinks are delicious, At night, it feels like a relaxing summer evening where you go after you’ve spent all day at the pool. It has a perfect mix of feeling old and new, young, fresh, home and away. The only food I’ve had here was the hummus with Zak the baker bread and I must say it was fantastic. The presentation was simple but nicer looking than if it had just been on a plate. It was the perfect outdoor snack. They have a great mix of daily house made cocktails and sangria and I encourage you to check them out. The broken shake just«feels» like sunshine.

The Broken Shaker is noted as: — One of «the best Miami cocktail bars»( ) — «Best Hotel Bar» at the 9th Annual Spirited Awards( ) — «James Beard Award Semi-Finalist Member I’m a big fan of their Caipirinha. The taste was complex and perfectly sweetened. So good that I went back for another. Amazing! Tip: — Be patient. The secret is out, so the bar gets pretty packed. Additional Locations: 1) Los Angeles(Soon To Come — as of January 2016) - - 2) Chicago - ENJOY!

I loved the atmosphere here. We walked over to this place because we heard they had great burgers/food. Unfortunately, when we got there at 10pm, all the tables were full and there was a 30 minute wait. We instead just decided to chill there for a bit and get drinks(which I must say, are reasonably priced!). Bartender was also really kind! There’s a pool, a vegetable herb garden, and many different places you can enjoy your drink there — under a string of dim lighting with patio chairs, near the pool, in a pool-house vibe loft, on a balcony… A place you should definitely check out. Something that’s very different and low-key than what you see in Miami.

We had heard about this place for a while now but never made it over because it’s some what of a drive or a decent cab ride. En route to trying a restaurant we decided to stop over and have a drink. This place is super cute! I love the earthy feel, the dim light lanterns and hung lights by poolside. They also grow their own herbs which is super cute. The bartender was pretty nice, and let us try some of the punch before deciding our drinks. I had the strawberry infused old fashioned which had a perfect balance without an overpowering taste of strawberry. It came with a homemade beet licorice which was super cool. We also ordered a cauliflower appy that has a kick and was pretty tasty and came with a dipping sauce. Kind of an indian feel to it. The atomsphere was calm collecting and chill and apart of a hotel/hostel. Loved this place and would definitely come back here again and perhaps try the restaurant 27 for brunch. Def. recommend!

The elusivity of finding this place, not to mention the bar, was difficult and mysterious on a dark and lovely balmy Miami December night. Finding my way into the hotel brought me into the restaurant with that informal and distant Miami thing with a wandering to the pool and through a patio where I finally sat without being greeted for a while. It’s south beach with style and without cheese, just off the main drags, in a refabbed old motel. I continued my journey to find a small indie bar with about four bar stools, and two handsome seemingly adept bar men. I perused the cocktail menu and chose the Big Iron, Bombay gin, genever, with a green chile infusion and oregano vermouth. «Western Tiki» headlining the menu put it all into perspective. Cute. My drink was delicious, spicy and unique. At $ 15, including tax and tip it was practically a meal, I headed out to the pool to enjoy my drink with a cigarette as an easy reggae track played. The lovely setting matched the drink, and I noted how this spot would become a great back pocket drink spot for me while I’m Miami. Go for the wonderful atmosphere, the very good cocktails, a cute non touristy crowd and with a twenty dollar bill per drink. Think tiki bar with panache.
