Last evening, we had the pleasure of attending the opening of Brevards Gallery in Wynwood. While I’ve been known to publicly scoff at the art scene here in Miami(NO, GALLERYOWNERS, PUTTING A MODELIN A BIKININEXTTO A PAINTINGDOESNOTMAKEITART!) I was so pleasantly surprised by the work of John Brevard. His pieces in petrified wood were imaginative, evocative, and actually something I would want in my own home. It took me awhile to realize that I wasn’t looking at stone, but rather petrified wood, millions of years in the making, and perfectly made into tables, wall art, and hanging pieces. My favorite piece was a large dining table around which I have built an entire room in my imagination. It’s a beautiful room. Now, if only I could find that rich sugar daddy… oh, well. I’ll keep it in my imagination… for now. ;)
