Great service and great food. Portions sizes are ok, not so huge but perfect. Place was pack as always but the waiting time is none to minimal.

After checking out their website, I found that this food truck is from the Beer & Burger Joint chain of restaurants. I’ve never been to any of them, so this review is only for my experience with their food truck that was at Tropical Park this last Thursday. I had never heard of wagyu beef before I saw it on the menu as an alternative to the classic angus burger. I had to give it a try(it was $ 3 more than angus). Since I wanted to really examine the flavor of this Wagyu beef I decided to avoid the specialty burgers with their sauces, not add bacon(which I usually love on burgers) and skip the condiments. All I added were the veggies(lettuce, tomato and onion) and sharp cheddar cheese(they had other cheese options like american and swiss). For the bun, I went with the brioche(they also had sesame and at least one other option that I can’t recall). According to the sign, by default they cook burgers medium unless you specify otherwise. Sure enough, the cashier suggested I go with medium or medium-rare for my burger. I chose medium. I also added an order of skinny fries(they also had sweet potato fries). My order was ready in a few minutes. I must say, the burger was absolutely delicious. I don’t know if my taste buds are unsophisticated, but I couldn’t differentiate wagyu from angus. Ultimately, that doesn’t matter since the taste was incredible. The patty was thick and was not overcooked on the outside. When the patty is thick there can sometimes be an issue of the flavor of the seasoning getting lost. That wasn’t the case here. The sharp cheddar complimented the meat and the bun very well. The tomato slices were fresh, but I removed them because they were thick and were overwhelming the taste of the burger a bit. I’m definitely ordering this burger again if they come down to Tropical Park again next month. Why four stars and not five? Well, one nitpick about the burger was that the middle did not seem to be cooked evenly. One half of the burger was noticeable pinker than the other. If it was actually undercooked, this would’ve been a huge blemish against them and they’d get a lower rating. Luckily, even the pinker sections were still cooked, it was just closer to medium-rare than the medium I asked for. The beefy flavorfulness of the burger was enough to not let this be a big issue. The other small problem was the fries. They were different(being skinny) and tasty, but they were definitely over-salted. While browsing around all the food trucks for dessert after finishing the burger, I looked over at this one again and happen to catch them adding salt to a freshly cooked batch of fries and the cook definitely was generous with the amount he poured on the batch. I’ll just ask them to go easy on the salt next time. Overall though I definitely recommend it.
