The good news the food is ok, fish is semi fresh. I have come here for years and they always have a decent amount of people. The bad… service service service. Takes a while for everything. Oder the conch and cod fritters.

This is one of my favorite restaurants for seafood. The sopon marinero is my favorite. Other plates are also exquisite. The only thing negative to say is that it seems the large bowl they use to serve the delicious soup has shrunk lol.

The food is awesome and delicious and I love it; however, the service is horrible. They take a while to help you and if you don’t speak Spanish. It’s even worse.

This is the place for a true seafood aficionado. The first thing I noticed walking in was the smell of seafood. My family ordered grouper entrees and they were a generous size and tasted okay. As for the sides, my fries were kinda crappy. In essence, nothing to write home about unless you really like fishy food. Not bad but not great either. I wish they had draft beer — I don’t think they do. Check in on Unilocal for free beer /wine!

The food is good, but the service is terrible! I waited 20 min for my appetizer and then an additional 35 min for my main dish. I’d be ok with that if the place was slammed packed and they were on a wait, but they’re not even full.

It was a pleasant experience eating at cayo esquivel. First we ordered oysters in the shell, they were delicious and tasty, better than anywhere else we had eaten them. I found out the waiter opened them right after we ordered, I guess that made the difference. Grouper soup with rice was also exquisite and full of fish chunks. We ordered the sea bass with caramelized pineapple sauce, wow!, what a winner. This dish estimulated my taste buds in a positive and delightful manner. I highly recommend it to those who like to venture out of the ordinary. I would definitely eat here again.

Unprofessional staff, you will eat frozen fish, I do not recommend this place for something special, only for a regular lunch, during week days…

I have always driven by this restaurant for years and now I finally went to have a meal. It’s a good place to eat. I had the Tuna Wasbi which was surprisedly good. The service was great as well.

The best seafood restaurant! Every time I come here I know the food is going to be great. I don’t know why this place isn’t always busy. The prices and food are unbeatable.

Not bad. Food was tasty. Server was nice and available. It was ok; nothing out of the ordinary or particularly noteworthy.

The reviews I read earlier were pretty scathing and my experience was more positive than most of the stuff I read. We were seated promptly and the service was quick and efficient. The only reason there is one star missing is because my grouper sandwich came almost 10 minutes after everyone else’s food. The food was on point and prices were very reasonable. The appetizer Ceviche Isabella is a must. Will definitely come back and recommend to others.

Horrible! If you want to experience the worse service and mediocre food then this is your place. I should have known when it was I that had to flag down the host/busboy upon arrival that service was not a priority here. He then wrote our name on a small ticket he kept in his pants pocket and when I asked about the estimated wait time, his answer was 5 tables. Didn’t matter if it was a 2 seater or group? I was #5. There is no host stand, flag down someone, no one will acknowledge you when you enter and then you are off on the worst, absolutely worse customer service of your life. We were seated and then ignored, when the waitress did arrive we seemed to be interrupting her evening, no water for the sticky table though water glasses and appetizers plates were set on the table before they walked away. Drinks were brought and 3 out of 4 of them were wrong! Glad we ordered an appetizer to share because that would be the only food or touch our table would get for an hour and a half. Mind you we had a toddler with us and we cleaned up our own spill and soggy napkins and appetizer plates would remain on the table until we again flagged someone down and they were removed 30 minutes later. When finally starving and tables around us had all finished their meals, we had to go ask at the bar about our meal, no apologies no rush to make amends nothing but several excuses and that was from the so called bartender/manager. One of our group had the hog snapper and they said it was good but the paella was watery and forgettable. What I won’t forget is the poor service and how this place makes you feel, unwanted. There is a Taco Bell next door, my suggestion is go there or anywhere else.

Under the sea Under the sea Nobody beat us Fry us and eat us In fricassee We what the land folks loves to cook… I loved The Little Mermaid, and that song was popping in between my ears as I was watching the plates of fried fish, cod and conch fritters, shrimp cocktails, and oysters on the half shell parade right by my eyes. I could have ordered it all! With a menu of 8 pages you will have plenty to choose from. The most popular entrees are whole fried snapper and grouper steaks or «ruedas». Served with two sides, the fish entrees are healthy portions and may leave you with leftovers. The rices are next in popularity. You can order the regular«Arroz con Mariscos» or the«Especial» What’s the difference? Lobster and more seafood in the«Especial»!(it’s only a couple of dollars more, so a better bargain) If you order the fritters or «frituras» you better be prepared for large portions. Cod or «Bacalao» and Conch or «Cobo» are the two best ones on the menu. I would recommend you keep the order small, say three or four or two of each. These fritters are huge and can easily fill you up. Deserts are delicious and your options run from Flan to Chocolate Mousse Cake with Whipped Cream! If you’re not too picky about the wine, the house carries some decent red and white table wine. I recommend you stick with beer or soda. But hey, that’s my preference here. The weekends are their busiest times, so call ahead and make a reservation if you can. Large parties are welcome, but will experience a longer wait for a table. If you’re not too picky, the bar is always an option for couples and single people. When you walk in you’ll be greeted by a Pirate, which brings me to my other Disney movie song… We kindle and char, inflame and ignite Drink up, me ‘earties, yo ho We burn up the city, we’re really a fright Drink up, me ‘earties, yo ho Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me Tip: If you check in with Unilocal, you’ll get a coupon redeemable for a free glass of wine or beer.

Great seafood and reasonable prices. It’s just good, simple food. I’ve ordered their fish sandwich, shrimp enchilados and avocado/spinach salad with mahi mahi and it has all been great.

Driving to El Floridita, we stumbled on this place. Parking was ample and location is great. Upon entering, the décor is appropriate for a seafood restaurant and clean. We were seated promptly and handed a fairly expansive menu. We ordered the fish coquettes, which were exceptional, a must try. My buddy had the corvina in a curry sauce and I had the hog fish, breaded with black beans and rice. Portions were generous and the food was just plain good! For dessert, we had mud pie which is a play on chocolate mousse and a tres leche, which was a pre-packaged deal, a-la Lila’s. Overall, very pleased with the quality of the food and the service. Total bill was $ 80.00+ for lunch for two.

This place is absolutely delicious. The décor is very nice and the staff is super friendly. Every time I come here I order the whole fried fish and it is finger licking good. The slaw salad is out of this world. My friend loves the rice with shrimp(arroz con camarones). I would recommend Cayo Esquivel to anyone who loves good and fresh seafood.
