Classic Cuban burger diner! The batido De Mamey is delicious! Fritas are even better!

This is a place to go and indulge the savory taste of a Hispanic childhood. Absolutely amazing!

5 stars!!! Server was attentive and quick. I had the steak sandwich and a mamey shake. Both were delicious. The steak sandwich was the softest I ever had and the HOMEMADE potato sticks were an added bonus. Will be back to try one of their fritas!

The place is cute and looks like a dinner. The food is cheap and seems pretty authentic but I gotta say you feel like gaining 2 lbs after your meal. We tried the original sandwich, the queso fritas, a juice and a flan. The sandwiches were all fatty and the juice and dessert were extremely sweet. This is good to have once in a while only :)

It was yummy, but not amazing. There are definitely much more delicious spots in Little Havana. You can’t beat the price, but the little crispy fries on the sandwich were cold by the time I got my plate. I would love to be able to try it again fresh and hot.

It was good but the portion was kind of small. We had to wait a little bit and the service was just ok. If you are just looking for very good little dish, this is the place to go

I wanted a delicious Cuban burger so came here and got me an original Frita and an «caballo style» which is basically an egg on top. I thought it meant there was horse on it, but I guess not(different spelling). The meal was pretty good but not something that I thought was necessary to really try if you’re a tourist. The establishment had 2 big U-shaped counters and tables along the wall. Service was great – I had a friendly server. Lots of high school aged kids come in and out of here along with random people trying to sell you things. With that said, it’s not the most classy of joints, but this is sort of what I was looking for – just some classic cheap Cuban burger joint that locals like to frequent. So, if that is what you’re looking for and you’re hanging around Calle Ocho, I recommend this joint for that experience.

Authentic Fritas! If you ever want a good frita in Miami, come here! I have been coming here as a kid and I have always loved this place. Bring cash for tip.

This was my first frita and it was a great one! The chorizo beef patty is flavorful and the bits of fried potato really tie the whole thing together. The fritas are kinda small too so I’d recommend getting two. I wish this was something more widely available in the rest of the country.

I had the Frita Original and Mamey drink. They are very yummy! It’s inexpensive as well! Thumbs up!

I’m giving this place three stars, although it aches me to not give it four. A Miami institution, everyone needs to try a Frita(Cuban version of a hamburger), it’s awesome and this place kind of made it famous. The reason for the three stars was is that the service SUCKS. Seriously, it’s as though the servers/kitchen are on Prozac. No kidding, stop and have a Frita at El Rey, but only if you have more than one hour for lunch, or be prepared to eat it in the car as you head back to work.

My Golden Princess an I are temporarily addicted to the Swiss and Bacon Frita. We do not like to eat at cafeterias, but this place is an exception. Sometimes I add raw onions and a tomato to the Frita. One is enough for your stomach to handle, I flip out when I see other other customers eating two. One is too enjoy, two is to regret. The rest of the food is typical Cuban Cafeteria food. looks good, but remember there is no such thing as Cuban Gourmet food. In the Cuban world, churrasco is their best steak and they still dont know the difference between an Entrana y Vacio because in their Communist Country their is no meat. So that means they are the last persons on earth you want to take cooking lessons from. By the way, I am Cuban and speak from first hand experience. So I stay away from cheap food that I will be burping the whole night. By the way, El Rey de la fritas next to Bird Bowl is a Dump. Just look at the chef. Hes a slob and so is your food. The grill is greasier than Cracker Barrel.

Can’t go wrong with una frita with cheese and onions and un iron beer to wash it down. Might want to get more than one if you’re really hungry! **Important to note: Definitely should come with someone who speaks Spanish to talk to the staff. I can imagine someone not enjoying their time because of difficulty communicating with the staff service that almost exclusively speaks Spanish. Don’t be afraid to grab their attention if they’re not paying attention to you!

I had been here once before. A year ago. It was seriously amazing. So I was SUPER disappointed when I came here again. The frita was disgusting. Dripping with grease(I mean I can handle a little grease, it was literally just all grease), cold, and so salty it was inedible. Must be a new cook, will never be going here again.

Don’t even come to this neighborhood if you’re not stopping by for a Frita! There is a lot of nice artwork in this area, but the real art here is done behind the counter. We tried the original Frita, and the taste of this: amazing. One of a kind. It’s hard to even describe but there is a smoky savory richness to the burgers they make, and you can see in the pic, overflowing with toppings. Like I said, too good to pass. Due to the hype, I tried the Frita with the fried egg on top and honestly, it didn’t do much for me, don’t mess with the original formula. The steak sandwich with the omelette too and whatever they use for the ground beef in the burger party they use on the steak, but when you get that nice full bite, with the egg and tomato behind it, insane. I literally can think of nothing to compare it to, A MUSTTRY. Want to add that they were featured on the food network and we were lucky to stumble upon. Can’t visit Miami without trying this again.

I always stop here whenever I’m in Miami because you can’t get these delicious burgers anywhere else! Get the Frita doble with cheese and a fried egg. Heaven on a fresh Cuban bread hamburger bun. They speak little English at this location so if you don’t know Spanish you may be have a bit of trouble but the staff is always nice and friendly.

I had El Rey De Las Fritas bookmarked for over a year after seeing the restaurant on Food Network channel. I stopped by El Rey De Las Fritas for lunch on a Saturday evening while visiting Miami. The restaurant was busy but it wasn’t a wait. I had a frita with an egg, frita with bacon & Swiss, and a original frita. The fritas lived up to the hype. All of them were delicious. I enjoyed every single bite. I tried flan for dessert as well. El Rey De Las Fritas flan was delicious. The flan was creamy and very flavorful. You can tell it’s very authentic. I sat at the bar area and service was very attentive. El Rey De Las Fritas was so good I returned to Little Havana for more fritas before flying to Virginia. I was able to meet one of the owners of El Rey De Las Fritas while dining. She was very down to earth, enthusiastic, and polite. I was able to tell her how much I loved the fritas and wish we had them in Virginia. Yes, I took some fritas back to Virginia on the plane lol El Rey De Las Fritas is located in a small strip mall in Little Havana. Parking can be a hassle but I caught an Über. El Rey De Las Fritas is a great choice for fritas. Every time I visit the Miami area, I will make a stop at El Rey De Las Fritas for sure!

Service was fast and nice. Restaurant is kept very clean which is rare compared to so many dibers in the area. I had the Frita Dulce and it was really good. The ground meat wasn’t delicious but everything else about it was. I had very high hopes for this place and it disappointed somewhat but I will come back to try something different and hopefully give it a better review.

So we saw this place on Burger Land and thought it was a great stop to visit while in Miami! First, the parking is horrendous. all the machines are broken or illegible or something wrong with them to make it difficult to read and pay for your space. and just finding parking is not an easy task either BUT once that is out of the way, it is nice to come into El Rey de las Fritas! the interior is modern-diner style, clean, nice, full of locals, and pictures all across the kitchen wall of menu items, tables have paper menus and sauces, and the other wall has photos of the city people awards newspapers etc today we ordered one frita especial con queso, one frita a caballo, and one mamey the fritas all come with the same ‘burger’ or ‘patty’ as a chorizo patty and very tender and thin too, not too crazy but still flavorful. the buns are simple, nothing crazy but not bland either the fritas are piled on top, but i do wish there were a little bit more for some more crunch! the queso came with, as it is named, queso or cheese; simple addition nothing fancy my caballo came with a fried egg, which gave it a nice addition in the flavor overall, these fritas are simple and tasty, but nothing to rant and rave about would i return? if there was nothing else to eat, sure!

Craving for some fast food but sick of MCD and BK then try a cuban Frita. It’s similar to a sloppy joes but wayyyyyy better and they put like hickory sticks on it which makes biting into it so crunchy and tasty This place is in a strip mall in little Havana so there’s limited parking in the plaza. We ordered 2 originals, cuban sandwiche and a mamey smoothie all for under $ 15 What a cheap deal to fill up 4 hungry tummies… the lady was very kind to us in offering us their house soup on the house A must try if your ever in miami… I believe they also have a few other joints in town

Super kubanische Burger!!! Diner!!! LOHNTSICH!
