Huge space with decent drinks. The music was awesome. I could have stayed all night just listening to the beats they were playing. Plently of space to hangout outside. I was liking the vibe after a very good dinner in the neighborhood. This area is definitely up and coming. Off the beaten path I would check it out if you are looking for something different.

I adore good ol gramps! Back when they first opened for Basel 2012 I believed they’d only be a basel pop up. Happy that gramps has stuck around supplying good music, good fun, and truly wonderful drinks. I mean, the cocktail specialist actually understand what they may be doing here. And the costs are right on also. I adore the ms cheese truck parked next door. Consistently great for a morsel and you can wash it down with a fine Stone IPA inside Gramps. Im a lover!

I had heard about Gramps for the last couple of years at least before I finally was able to experience it first hand last month at a Bottle Share event, and it was a lot of fun. A very neighborhood-style hangout that fits into the whole art-hipster vibe Wynwood exudes with a cool back patio area that has a stage for DJaying and bands. Definitely one of my stops when I head down to the area.

I went to Gramps this past Friday with a group of 10 friends we had fun and enjoyed the company but the customer service at Gramps was TERRIBLE!!! I’ll make this short and sweet… My boyfriend went up to the bar and bought two Mexican Mules(Moscow Mules are on their menu and all they needed to do was substitute Tequila for the Vodka). He paid and brought me over my drink and I almost threw up in my mouth. Our entire group of 10 took a sip of the drinks and we came to the conclusion that it indeed tasted like sweaty gym trousers. Barf!!! Long story short I asked my boyfriend who made the drink and he said the girl bartender(she was blonde and the only girl working). I felt bad telling her her drink was terrible so I went up to the guy bartender(mind you the drink was 98% full) to her left and explained to him the situation he said, and I quote, «I can make you another drink but you are still going to have to pay for it». This really pissed me off since the drink was $ 12 and served in a plastic cup… I replied to him, «Even though it taste like poop(I used another word)?» He said, «yes». My friend could tell I was frazzled and he said, «Hey, don’t let this ruin your night.» I turned to my friend and said, «This didn’t ruin my night.» Then I turned to the bartender and said, «Hey man, what’s your name?» He hesitated and said, «Ben.» I turned back to my friend and said with a vengeance, «BEN ruined my night!» Needless to say, Ben didn’t ruin my night. We actually laughed about that comment for the next hour. But heads up, if you like mixed drinks, this is NOT your place. Grab a beer and save your $ 12. Better yet, if you like Mexican Mules head over to The Butcher Shop. They are only $ 9 and they were divine!

Gramps is one of my favorite places in Wynwood! A must to visit while in Wynwood. The Moscow mules are the best here. Prices are reasonable and service is good. The patio has a home feeling — very chill place to go to. Bathrooms are clean and spacious just a little dark but not a big deal. Bartenders are very friendly. They play great music and have trivia on Tuesdays. Food trucks do park near

Gramps is one of those places you go to thinking you know what to expect… and maybe you do but also maybe you don’t. It’s a warm Miami night. You’re not from here but Wynwood has already impressed you with the dope street art and their«omg I didn’t know Miami was like this» places you’ve seen so far out the window of your über. You saw places you probably want to stop and go in, but no… the address for Gramps is already in the app… so you’re going. You pull up to gramps and can hear the music… «Okay… Okay, I’m liking what I am hearing» You give your ID and you’re let in… «Here, free shots.» — «Say what?» — «You get a free shot when you enter gramps, here, drink it… DRINKIT!» — «Okay!» You drink it. You walk through the bar, to the outside area. A place you thought couldn’t get any better just did. The dance floor is huge and there is plenty of space to breath. The bar is simple, in the most perfect of ways. You order your drink and there is plenty to see. It begins to rain… you hardly notice. 3 hours ago by. Where did the time go? Your friends want to leave… you can’t imagine why. You chug your beer, you take one last look around. «Bye Gramps… I love you… see you again when I’m back in Wynwood… boo»

Basically a dive bar. Don’t get me wrong it’s a pretty good dive bar. But just that, I mean if you want a chill night out just to get a few drinks, may we dance or hang out a bit, it’s one of the better places in Wynwood. They have a pretty eclectic selection of music. And the drinks are pretty good too. Also reasonably priced.

Love the drinks here. Rosemary’s Baby smells like Christmas. Great happy hour specials from 5 – 7 M-F…honestly it’s the best time to go to beat the crowds. Love both the indoor and outdoor space. It’s not huge but not tiny either. They have some cool events and food truck outside. The music is cool. And the bartenders know what they’re doing.

YasssSSS! A «Hideaway!» SITREP When my friends took me to go see«The Walls» in the Wynwood area of North Miami, this was a welcome reprieve from the crazy crowds on the streets where we could go rehydrate ourselves and listen to chill music. THESETUP A very casual vibe and a minimalist set-up, this place is truly meant for conversations and relaxation. The music has a lively beat, but always stays in «the background» — it’s never loud nor does it overpower our conversations that we have to start yelling at each other. THEDRINKS Everything you want made is available, from Mojitos, Tequila shots and inexpensive bottles of water(imagine that!). PATIO! The patio is massive and where most of the music action is taking place, as well as where everything is hanging out. Gramps seems to enjoy it’s role as a patio paradise! «GRAMPS» I never got the story on the name«Gramps» — I suspenct there is a kitschy origin behind this! THELOWDOWN A great spot in North Miami to kick-back and relax. I hope to get back here someday!

This is a really cool spot. I’d give it 5 stars if there was dancing the night that I went. This place is dope. We rolled up to the spot and realized this wasn’t going to be the typical bar. It’s basically the image I would have of a beachside dive bar. The first part of the bar looks like a big garage that was transformed into a bar, the second part of the bar is outside seating that makes you feel like you fallen into a time warp back to a tiki bar and some hipsters got hold of it. The art on the walls, even in the bathroom, is great and definitely makes you feel like you’re in Wynwood. To top it off the drinks are great, if you’re into cocktails get the signature ones or get a suggestion from your bartender. They know what the fuck they’re doing and you’re gonna be a happy camper. Next time I’m in Miami I will definitely be back, hopefully on a night when they have live music.

Came to Gramps following a bartender tip. It is a great place with great music and drinks. Best of all night cover charge. We end up coming every other night during our stay in Miami including the New Years Eve. All nights were memorable. Lots of fun. Mice crowd which makes it even better. Outdoor area is a plus.

Hands down my favorite bar in Miami. My friend & I came to Gramps two out of the three nights we were staying in Miami on our ladycation. We saw a favorite band of mine in their outside venue & it ruled. The bartender made us fab cocktails and was so very friendly. We retuned to Gramps our last night in town which happened to be ladies night, cheap mixed drinks & starship troopers was playing on their TVs. What more can an out of town yinzer ask for?! The bartender this night was an absolute pleasure to talk with, he & I both share a love for jack white so we instantly hit it off. Great place, great staff, will definitely be returning this summer.

So I have to admit, I was very reluctant to go to Gramps initially. They had opened while I was living in Brooklyn, and when I moved back to MIA, I was concerned it would be some overly-hyped, illegitimate, «Brooklyn“ized fantasy of Williamsburg 2007. However, one Sunday afternoon, after hitting up the Warby Parker store and walking to see if J. Wakefield’s was open, I heard some Pet Shop Boys blasting from the Gramps courtyard, an eclectic mix of people entering and my friend’s interest was piqued. Still determine to go to J. Wakefield’s, I proceeded on, saying we could stop in on our way back. Thankfully that Sunday, J. Wakefield’s was closed and we entered Gramps for the funnest afternoon I had had in a while. Gramps is a perfect mix of divey but nice… great cocktails, excellent beer selection, extremely friendly staff. The atmosphere is both laid back and yet full of energy and everyone seems to be there for the sole purpose of having a good time. Very few places exist like this in Miami, where the fun vibe is authentic and not based on making sure everyone sees your best angle or how much money you want to appear to have or where there is some phony marketing ploy. And as a person who has no issue spending $ 12 for a good cocktail while chatting with friends, but also enjoys spending $ 16 for a full bottle of «champagne» and sprawling out on the ground to drink it from the bottle… Gramps appeals to all my sensibilities. They offer trivia nights, movie nights, live bands, dancing in the courtyard. And if that wasn’t enough, after all the fun of my initial visit, they brought in free pizza!

So, on a Friday stroll with no objective in mind ended up in the place. Mainly because we can hear music in the back and it so happened to be 80’s which I do like. Once at the entrance, we we hit with a cover. yes a cover for a bar but ok it was only $ 5 so I paid it. Once inside, we were given a free tequila shot which tasted more like draino… of which, went back in the cup and found our way over to the not so packed inside bar and ordered a drink. The bartender was really sweet with her straight cut bangs like a 40’s pinup girl. Talked with her for a sec and ended up in the back outdoor area which was blasting Billy idol or something and a room full of swag kids who looked like extras to the«breakfast club» from the 80’s. Pretty funny. There was a small stage I believe, the only area with mediocre lighting. I am not sure I wld go back. I don’t like paying a cover at any bar but let alone for a swag joint but it was an experience.

After our UYE at Alter in Wynwood, our group started venture around the area and we came here, and It seems like a hip place to hang out. Inside this place there is a bar and a few tables and booth, but we spent most of our time in the outside patio. There was a beer swap event going on this day and few breweries sat up their booths for beer sampling. Perfect! In the back of the patio, there was a live DJ playing music. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Being in Wynwood, this place is filled with hip vibe. I’d imagine this place must be rocking with a big music venue.

I first came to Gramps a few years ago for a Unilocal event. I had a great time at the event, but honestly, I just didn’t get Gramps. It was my first time in the Wynwood area, and I think the whole idea of the artsy/hipster vibe was just completely lost on me… the cocktails were good, but I just didn’t see why anyone would chose here to hang out over other bar spots. Fast forward a few years later and I’ve obviously grown a lot as a person, because I had a great time at Gramps, and I think I can really appreciate it now. We came on a Saturday afternoon when Gramps was hosting a Sud Swap. For a $ 7 cover charge we were given wristbands and headed out to the courtyard area where various home brewers/small breweries had brought their creations for sampling. I think it’s really cool that a bar that sells their own beer and cocktails would be open to letting other bring theirs in and serve them. Yes, Gramps got the money for the cover charge, but I didn’t find a need to get anything from the bar on this particular occasion because of the Sud Swap. The courtyard was the perfect location with various booths set up(not even just beer, there were even some craft items for sale) and we were able to hang out and chat with beer lovers who are trying to perfect their craft. Now that I appreciate Gramps a little more, I think it’s a good place to stop in Wynwood for a drink(the cocktail of theirs I had a few years back was delicious). They have plenty of room for larger groups with big booths inside and the outdoor courtyard. It is South Florida, and it can get a little hot out there though. Though they don’t serve food, there is a very famous grilled cheese food truck who is more often than not parked outside waiting to make sandwiches for hungry bar crawlers.

I’ve been to Gramps about ½ dozen times now. I’ve been here for events and to see bands this place has hosted, I’ve come here during bicycle pub crawls, and most recently I came here for happy hour with co-workers on a Friday evening. While I like the overall feel of this place, and I love unpretentious bars like this that have a little bit of a divey feel, I’ve always felt that Gramps is simply overpriced for what it is. The floors are bare concrete, the booths are made of plain, low grade plywood with a layer of varnish on them, and aside from the(small) stage outside, one can tell they didn’t put a lot of time or money into bringing this space together. That’s awesome, and the décor and lack of expensive furnishings is a big part of what gives this bar its character, but it also doesn’t feel like a place that should be charging $ 12 for a cocktail or $ 7 for a draft beer, either.

Gramps is a cool little spot in Wynwood. There is an indoor and outdoor seating area, and a pretty large variety of specialty cocktails. I went to Gramps early, around 7pm, for their happy hour. I was able to get two drinks for $ 11(a steal given they were specialty drinks). Our service was ok, a little slow, but the bar was pretty busy so I understand. In terms of quality, every time we ordered a cocktail, it tasted differently. For example, I ordered the Cucumber in Paradise twice. The first time it was spicy and had strong notes of cucumber. The second time there was no spice and it tasted a little watered down. However, the Old Fashioned was dope. Overall, Gramps is comparable to most spots in Midtown. There is nothing«special» that sets it apart, but it’s a great time with good people. The décor is fun, the music is unique, and the set up is interesting. I will have to return at night to update my review!

This was my second time at Gramps and I’ve definitely come to appreciate it a little bit more, if not for anything else, the drinks are amazing! It doesn’t hurt that both times I’ve been a certain famous grilled cheese truck has been parked outside ;) This time we arrived with friends around 10pm and got straight to ordering drinks. Although the shipfaced sounded like«me» I was a little apprehensive of the spiced rum and opted for the Cool as a Cucumber. Perfect balance of cucumber, lime and tequila with a very spicy rim! Other friends ordered the Penicillin and I found it to be very tasty. One stuck with the true ingredients and one asked for bourbon instead of scotch and his version may have been even better! After a few drinks inside we made our way outside for some dancing! Next time I’m in Wynwood I’d happily pop in for a cocktail!
