A group of us came here this past Saturday night while in town and I must say, we enjoyed it! Been a while since I was at such a swanky-looking place(ha) and it was pretty fun. Granted, we got there at 10, which you’d think was 3 pm, and the place was empty. We were the first people there! hooray! hahaha the upside was no cover yet, which would’ve been $ 10 for dudes. It’s right next to a club and some other going out spots(we saw a cool-looking rooftop) so there’s definitely a party vibe around. The place is definitely much more casual than it appears as they let my hubs in with jeans and a t shirt, on a Saturday night. The space itself is actually awesome, very dark, but really cool. They have some semi-circle tables under a cave-like curved wall, behind a velvet rope, which appeared to be VIP but I don’t actually think they were, as people were arriving and simply sitting, no bouncer. We sat in one of the 3(or 4?) lounge areas in front of the bar. The chandeliers are grand and lovely. The drinks were very good, definitely specialty cocktails on their menu, my hubs tried ummm 5 of them, and he was pleased. Two negatives: 1) the music was legit from a Pandora-style service with ads, LOL, come onnnn, go ahead and pay for the non-ad version! my sis was about to request to plug in her spotify hahaha. and 2) you can smoke in there, which was perplexing for me! I live in DC and real talk you can’t smoke inside anywhere anymore. So to be here and have the 5 dudes at the loungy couches by us ALL smoking was quite shocking and unappealing(I remember when I could sit at a bar with people smoking in my face for hours, those days are gone!). I didn’t take more than 1 star away though because if FL law still allows smoking indoors, then duh, peeps will smoke. Mostly star was removed because of the ads! Drinks are pricey enough they can afford to pay for a subscription :)

A 4-star spot, that gets 3 because of a bartender. First, here’s what I liked: The bouncers at the door were extremely helpful, and once inside, the loungy atmosphere was sexy and intimate, and conducive to mingling. The cocktails were well made, and the DJ was spot on. Everything about the place was likeable, until… …The bartender. He swears that he told me that there’s a 3-drink minimum on cards. This comes after I had already bought one drink using my card. I certainly didn’t remember hearing anything about a 3-drink minimum, because if I had, I would have just used cash to begin with. Now, he’s trying to lock me into 3 more drinks, which is pretty shady if you ask me… Rather than getting into a prolonged argument, I paid cash for my second drink, but my buzz for this place had just been killed. The night I went, there was a pop up event related to Art Basel, but for locals, I can see this as a place to come to after heading to ClubSpace next door. Just be aware of the bartenders.

Good speakeasy-themed location between the Heart and Space clubs. Their drinks menu offers interesting options for those who are daring and different takes on traditional cocktails. I had the Libertine and loved it! The music mix was great and the couches comfy. The venue is great for groups of friends or couples looking for amix of loud and intimate atmosphere. Warning, people smoke inside(similar to other Miami locations) and tend throw their cig butts on the floor. The staff does good job of maintaining the cleanliness of the place though. There was no cover charge. Drinks were $ 15(even for a vodka with RedBull).

Cool place. It’s really hidden and the drinks are really good but pricy of course. From what I’ve heard it’s more of an after hours spot and that’s when it livens up. So I’d have to go back to see. Just getting 3 stars because it was empty. But a very nice venue and good survive with knowledgable bartenders.

As noted in numerous other reviews on here the bar tends to overcharge and under deliver. Won’t be back and recommend you give your money to more honest establishments. Also if you do go check your credit card statements.

Horrible Place I would not recommend anyone to go to this joke of a bar«bar for the People more like bar to rip off people!!! I was told one price for my tab and charged another clearly a mistake, since I have been in this biz for over 16 years in Miami and New York I gave my bartender the benift of the doubt(because sometimes things happen) so I tried to flag down my bartender to explain the mistake. I was waved away because I wasn’t ordering a drink twice,(I get it your trying to sell your over priced $ 15 drinks but you can pay attention to the patrons) I finally got the bartenders attention and tried to clearly show the mistake and discrepancy on the receipt. The reply I received was not only rude but disrespectful. The bartender told me they did not know what I was talking about if I didn’t like it «to get the fuck out» I asked to speak to a manager and the clear reply was there wasn’t one around. This I found to be odd or just a flat out lie. This place should be leveled to the ground for employing such trash to work at their establishment. Never again and I will make sure anyone I know will not spend a penny in this garbage or a rip off place.

Went for the first time last night and loved it! A hidden gem right next to space. Awesome drinks, interesting crowd and cool atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

A great addition to the rising Arts and Entertainment District, Libertine is located next to Club Space. Libertine describes itself as a «bar for the people» and spotlights an attractive bar with reflective mirrors surrounded by a London subway tile, as well as a floor covered of pennies. On Friday, there was a live DJ playing European 80’s and 90’s. The music was very loud making it hard to chat. The bar offers specialty cocktails for $ 15, standard beers and liquors and a very«interesting» and eclectic crowd in a dimly lit setting.

I’m on my way home from Libertine now. It was definitely a cool venue and concept however it lacks in execution. To start, it’s very hard to find out what this place even is before arriving. This would normally be fine as they tout themselves as a hidden speakeasy however they are on all major reviews of ‘cool new Miami spot’ so that defeats the word of mouth feel it’s supposed to have. There’s also the fact that upon arrival there was a considerable line. If you’re a speakeasy, why is there a line? Next up is the location. It’s in the not so good part of downtown, next to space, with odd signage outside — definitely not for me — it’s for the group trying to prove something. And that ‘group’ includes a guy who said«it’s MIAMI sweetie, you only get in with a table» and then went on to hand the bouncer some cash in hand to enter(which didn’t work). SIDENOTE — the bouncer was great! This isn’t a Miami Beach club and I think everyone needs to understand that. The drinks are too pricy as well, avg. of $ 15…again, its’s not Miami Beach. Having said this, it was worth going once, checking out the venue and listening to the loud music. I only wish it were better executed as a speakeasy you can go to, have a drink at and hang out with friends.

Super cool place. Is a mix of a lounge/club with good looking crowd. Thursdays they have live bands so definitely I’ll be coming back.
