Croquetas here are delicious! The breakfast here is great, fast and cheap! We usually sit at the bar close to the take out window because the girl that does the take out window is amazing! Love love love her! She always remembers us and knows exactly what we want and how we take our café. We have also come here just to take out from the window and still great! Parking is bad because this is in a shopping center with Home Depot and always packed but well worth circling a few times around.

I’ve gone several times on a Friday morning for breakfast, I usually get the«Muy Temprano» breakfast it’s a good breakfast for a cheap price. I think the café con leche is excellent and the service is quick and simple. The croquetas are tasty but not the best I’ve had. They are very dense inside and don’t have the typical flavor I expect from a ham croqueta but either way not too bad.

After a long day I needed calories ASAP and was on my way in to the Pinecrest Bakery for what I described to my girl as «do you want me to grab some shitty croquettas and empanadas from that pinecrest place just to hold us off?» BUT then I saw Munchies two doors down and made a bee-line that way! I’m soooooo happy I did! This place gets 5 stars because, for its kind, it’s the best there is; Cuban coffee, quick food, Cuban pastries. All cheap, quick & satisfying. The croquettas are 10x better than the ones next door at the Pinecrest Bakery(gross) They might actually be homemade but im not positive. They are thicker than the usual ones and the flavor is a little different than most«party» croquettas. The buttered toast is the best! I had 2 today; one at Latin America on 107th& Coral Way(bland, cold, no butter) and one HERE which was DELICIOUS; hot, pressed thin and with plenty of butter. They’ve got Lotto, Scratch Offs, Beer, Wine, Empanadas, Croquettas, coffee, fresh OJ and restaurant food too(surprisingly) Its in the inside corner of the plaza with the McDonalds, TD Bank and Winn Dixie(to the left of the Home Depot) Come in, sit at the counter(or a little table to the side), watch the Auto Auction on Fox Sports, have a coffee and a sandwich. Then back to your 27th trip to Home Depot for this weekends DIY project. ;)

Ohhhhh I wanted to like this place. It’s a usual spot for many of my co-workers since it’s conveniently located at the plaza next door so I walked in with high hopes. I immediately noticed that party of three would not fit… they have tables along the wall that are good for only two people and the rest is bar seating. Since most people sit about a stool apart, there was no space for us three to sit together. One nice lady noticed and moved over one to make the room for us… kudos to the stranger for her kindness! I ordered my mamey shake along with a steak sandwich and couldn’t help but pay close attention to the customer service as my friends ordered theirs and the end result: very poor customer service. The server was not friendly, not smiling, annoyed and just seemed plain old sick of her life as a Munchies waitress. On a positive note, food came out lightning fast! It wasn’t the best steak sandwich I’ve had. The onions were not cut correctly it seemed. They were thick and chunky throughout the sandwich. I found myself having to pick them out since they were not sauteed in with the steak like your usual sandwiches. It was just raw onion pieces– long chunks. Maybe some people prefer that, I was not much of a fan. So I finish my sandwich along with my shake and we all decide we are going to do a dessert… problem is they never come around to ask. We were literally sitting at the bar and the ladies are walking back and forth but no attention to the three cute girls sitting patiently. We finally decided we’d eat at the bakery next door and would ask for the check. Waited and waited and waited and waited some more. Check finally arrived– we said«Peace Out» and moonwalked our way out of the establishment. Sooooo I noticed alot of men come in here and seem to get a little better service. I’m hoping to come in next time in disguise… like a man! I’ll let you know how that goes. here’s a TIP: Don’t order water! it tastes funny and there’s black specs in it.

Food is actually very good. Burgers are great and the thin fries are fantastic. The fondue desert is amazing. Definitely can be shared be a few people. The only bad thing was service was a bit slow.

Nice to have a little place nearby with good cuban food. My brother gets his colada and pastelitos here and they are very good; I love the papa rellena when it’s available. Close to the house, just walking distance. I usually ordered the chicken breast with black beans and rice when I lived in Miami and visited the munchies café frequently with my brother. It was really good food served promptly and the black beans were rich and creamy. They have an orange juicer which I love too; fresh squeezed o.j. is always good! Now that I live in San Diego, I REALLY miss that strong cuban coffee and guayaba y queso pastelitos!!! Decent prices, friendly staff, quaint little place; come by sometime!
