MYE: Where The GIRLS Are @ FIFTY Ultra Lounge

Super late with my review but here it is. I know it says 4 stars, but it’s really more like 4.5.
This event was pretty dope. It was held at Fifty Ultra Lounge at the Viceroy.
I had been to Fifty before and knew the location is great. The view is absolutely spectacular and the lounge really is top notch. Upon entering we scoped out the place for familiar faces. Unilocal Miami has really grown because I didn’t see too many at first, but that’s okay, more people to get to meet, right?
A waiter came by with glasses of wine. Yay!
We went outside to mingle and the DJ was playing great music. We made our way to talk to some Unilocal friends, took some pics of the huge GIRLS sign and enjoyed the beautiful night by the pool.
Waiters came by with some ceviche and some pastries. Then it was time for the show to start. I love the show Girls and am a Lena Dunham fan so I was really excited to catch the 2^nd episode. The TVs outside had some problems with the picture (or maybe it was where we were seated), and the ones inside had problems with the sound. I was a little bummed. I tried to pay as much attention but midway through episode 2 I decided I’d catch the 2^nd episode at home.
Once the episodes finished, the music, drinks and food started up again. We danced, we ate, we drank, we were definitely merry! My favorite part of the evening was definitely that photobooth. People got so creative and I was very entertained/​amused with Unilocaler’s resolutions. Nice touch to an already cool event!
Thanks, Johnny and Blue for the good times. It made my week so much better!

Johnny and HBO did an awesome job putting together a fun event. The only downside was the lack of alcohol during the screening, which luckily gave me an opportunity to check out Eos downstairs for a glass of wine. (score! Review is coming…) It was great to check out FIFTY which was a venue I had seen around, but never visited.
The food I tasted was pretty bad, no offense to whoever made it, since it was free. You can’t expect much. I tasted two mystery items, I forget what they were.
The booze (beer and wine) were good, and overall the party with a success. Didn’t do a lot of mingling, but it was a fun evening.

Great event! Who doesn’t love a rooftop view while watching one of HBO’s hilariously hipster, awkward, badass show, Girls? I kept up with it last season and I’m so glad HBO (and Johnny and Comcast) brought the second season’s first two episodes to Miami!
Also, who doesn’t love these things: wine being passed around by good looking men, mini cupcakes (tiramisu one-​or something similar– was heaven in my mouth… too bad I dropped it icing down) and appetizers, free swag (Thank you Natasha! Resolution to be bold starts… NOW!), etc.
Thank you HBO, Johnny, and Comcast for another awesome Unilocal event!

The view was breathtaking at Fifty Ultra Lounge.
What really makes it ‘Ultra’? Personally, I have no idea.
The show ‘Girls’ seemed interesting, but it is hard to watch something with everyone having their own little conversations.
I am certainly guilty of carrying conversations during the show. George M and I were breaking barriers and meeting new people through the night.
It was really funny to see how antsy everyone was waiting for the bar to re-​open. It reminded me of little kids just dying to play with their new toy on Christmas, but the parents making them exhibit patience.
Finally, the bar opened and the vultures were all circling, including me, for a drink. Food started to flow around the lounge with the pork belly coming in as my favorite appetizer of the night.
I really enjoyed the photo booth where Gina H and I «resolved to kick ass in 2013»
This event was certainly a good start to ass kicking in 2013.

I’ve always loved the view from FIFTY. On this particular night, with the nice cool breeze, «Girls» blue signs, and all the Unilocalers, the Miami lights seemed a little brighter.
We were immediately greeted with glasses of wine, our choice to be inside or out for the special viewing of the HBO show «Girls». Servers were great, making sure we all got a sample of their plates. The ceviche had to be my favorite of the night, and the spicy tuna was really good too, really liked the crunchy seaweed on the outside.
There were raffles, music, showing of a Golden Globe winner TV show, great people all around… What else can you ask for?
Another great event by Johnny, Blue, and all at FIFTY! Thank you!!!

For my 1^st Unilocal event of the year, this event was pretty tight!
Unfortunately due to work and traffic I arrived right at 8PM, but I didn’t miss much because apparently they had JUST started the first Girls episode.
The guy checking the list downstairs better not have put me down as a «no show» since when I arrived he didn’t have the list on him. –_​–
Anyways, it was actually sort of awkward at first. Since this event was open to everyone with an account, I was super excited to see a bunch of my friends whom are non-​elite at the event enjoying themselves. But I couldn’t really sit and chat with them because the show was playing and some others around us seemed really into it and I didn’t want to be too loud and bothersome. I couldn’t even get a drink in the meantime because they decided to close the bar while the show was on air. Ugh. I guess it makes sense though. But it was a little annoying because I couldn’t really mingle much.
I did very much enjoy the free wine being serviced. Both white and red was yummy.
The sweets were definitely very good too! I do have to say though that some fellow Unilocalers were very rude :/​Some girls just parked their wine and purses and booties right at the table with the desserts and wouldn’t move for others to grab a few and go. I just thought that was inconsiderate.
But overall, the event was fun! You could stay inside and it was spacious enough to chat and mingle. The «resolution» photobooth was so much fun and creative as well! Some people got really funny and creative with theres. My favorite was probably, «I resolve to gangnam style» and «I resolve to dump him» dun dun DUN!
I wish I was outside more to enjoy the music and enjoy the view from the 50^th floor. The view is absolutely, absolutely breath-​taking overlooking Brickell and downtown. So MAJOR props to Johnny for finding such a dope location!

You guys know that I LOVE an event that ends in dancing, and the GIRLS certainly got wild at the end of this night. It’s so fabulous to live in Miami and be able to enjoy rooftop views on a JANUARY night! We are quite blessed to live in this Magic City. (AHEM, any chance there could be an MYE for THAT show’s second season première??? It would be quite apropos!)
The ceviche and the tiramisu-​ish cake bite were the nibbles that stole the show for me. It was a lot of fun to run up and claim BROOKE’S prize for her, since she wouldn’t do it herself even though I had just told her she should resolve to be more BOLD!
The glitz and glam of the MYE is a great concept, I do hope to see more of these in our near future. Thanks Johnny for introducing some more fabulousness in to our lives!

This event had great promise, but what can I say, it was just ok. The location was great and the view was awesome… BUT no drinks or food were served for over an hour (during the viewing of the show).
I completely understand that we were there to watch the show, however the majority of the people left once they stopped serving food/​alcohol. Even the bartenders were getting frustrated because they were just standing around. It really ruined the atmosphere of the party.

What a great way to start 2013. Johnny T, as always, organized a fabulous party for Unilocalers at Fifty Ultra Lounge overlooking the Magic City. HBO also showed the season premier of Girls which I have recently started recording on my DVR. I have been to Fifty Lounge before and love the rooftop pool. It was actually a perfect night to lounge around the outdoor seating, plus there were finger-​lickin’ bites from the kitchen being served to the guests. My favorite was the tuna tartar roll (i think that was the name for it :) To wash it all down, the bar served complimentary beer & wine all night long! Congratulations to all the raffle winners by the way. Yes, Johnny T also raffled some amazing prizes, like goodie bags, vacation trip before the HBO premier started. We had a great time with fellow Unilocalers at the top of Miami & looking forward to the next event!

Whoa!!! A complete show stopper! I felt like Alice, except falling down into rabbit hole I fell upward into a surrealistic world of stunning amazements of what life is like on the 50^th, the very top floor of the fashionable Viceroy. Yes, it was the incredible Viceroy, not only with its own beauty but with astonishing views overlooking the entire City of Miami and its surroundings of the Brickell Area, the Government Cut, the Rickenbacker Causeway and even distant Virginia Key to name a few. Totally breathtaking in beauty, but then adding to that the great company of my fellow Unilocalers, wonderful wines, top notch service, quality hor d’oeuvres, food bites, a first show exclusive screening of HBO’s «Girls, Girls» but with one puzzling unreconciled thought left in mind. That being exactly how does Johnny can manage to repeatedly keep pulling off such astoundingly incredibly wonderful well orchestrated events? However he does, I don’t know, but I’m more than satisfied to just say «Thank you Johnny; very much appreciated.»

OH MY GOD!!!
Where to start. This event was amazing. First of all the location was fantastic. The Viceroy hotel and the Fifty Ultra Lounge is beautiful. When i first walked into the lobby i was immediately greeted by such great décor and opulence.
I take this elevator to the fiftieth floor of the hotel where all my fellow Unilocales were. I arrived a little late and an episode was already playing on one of the many screens throughout the room. I went outside to watch as i waited patiently for a cold glass of wine.
The show is absolutely brilliant and funny. Girls is one of the best shows on television right now. Girls is as funny and witty as last season. I can’t get enough of this show.
The views from the top are breathtaking. The skyline of Miami is one of the best. This left me wanting to come back for more. Between the episodes the waiters came to serve some little appetizers that were very good. The macaroons, the cupcake and this slug jelly looking thing was so good it tasted like guava to me. I am obsessed with guavas being Cuban.
After the show ended plenty of people had left but we stuck around for some more drinks and conversations with great people. The Dj played great music from modern hits to some throwbacks. Right before we left we went to the photo booth to take our photo. Our resolution was «To kiss more «lol.
I give a great congratulation and thanks to Johnny and his team for an amazing job and an unforgettable night. Can’t wait until the next event.

First thing you got handed those cool nail stickers which will save me one manicure, yay! Second, the great smell in the air once you stepped out of the elevator!
Third, waiters waiting for you with white or red wine glasses!

Right, a free screening of a funny show! Thanks HBO for that season 2 screening of GIRLS. I had a lot of fun even though there were some tv issues and crowd sound level tempering with my hearing. lol
Food was awesome, love the ceviche ! I wasn’t a fan of the salmon in the ice cream cone… weird. Great macarons and madeleines!
The bar «not open» during the screening was somewhat disturbing, since I didn’t get to ask for a drink before the screening started. So thirsty Unilocalers went rushing to the poor bartenders the second the show ended…
The best thing were the photos of the new year resolutions… some were hilarious!
Bravo Johnny and the Unilocal team, as well as the FIFTY Ultra lounge that offered us a great service and amazing views from the city.

Wearing heels with a bum knee might not have been the best idea… but it was worth it to make me feel just as fabulous as our venue and event last night.
I must say, there is something nice about walking into a place and being greeted with a glass of wine. And the fabulosity didn’t end there… I absolutely loved the favors, adorable Unilocal sunglasses and those nail polish decals I can’t wait to use! Plus, the resolution photos were awesome!
The lite bites were yummy — I really enjoyed the steak, even though I was sure I had it in my teeth for the rest of the night. And the carrot cake cupcakes were yummy. It was hilarious seeing everyone attack the server who came out with the desserts! I’ll admit I was right there in the middle of them… we’re hungry Unilocalers.
I had never seen Girls before but would love to give it a chance. I couldn’t really hear the dialogue but it definitely seemed like a cool show with interesting story lines. Brittney W. and I were interviewed by HBO about the show too. As two girls who prefer to stay behind the camera, that experience really helped us with our resolutions («have more fun» and «be fearless»)!
I’m so glad I was able to make it to this event. It was great to catch up with people I hadn’t seen in a long time and meet a couple of new Unilocalers too!

GIRLS is my favorite show on television so I grew exponentially pumped during the days leading up to this event. Unfortunately I got there about an hour late which probably would have only been 20 minutes late if it were not for the awful Brickell traffic! Arriving around 8pm meant that I missed out on a bunch of the Unilocal goodies; I did score some cool Jessa nail decals though! The bar was also closed by the time I got up there and I think I missed the hor d’oeuvres :(That will teach me to be late!
I should have made that my resolution for the photo booth «I resolve to leave work early, speed and make illegal moving violations, and do whatever it takes to never be late for a Unilocal event again!» Jeesh, if only I thought of that last night! I really did enjoy doing the resolution photo booth and it was probably the highlight of the event for me, well that and the reactions of my friends when the sex scene between Elijah and Marnie hit the screen.
I thought Club 50. ahhm, FIFTY Ultra Lounge was the perfect venue for the night and again –sorry to the girl I walked in on in the bathroom and consequently hit in the face with the door knob (I say sorry but really what I want to say is «learn to lock your door dumdum»)

Beautiful event. What’s there not to love about club 50? Sitting outside underneath the stars, on a gorgeous Miami winter night, pool side, with glass of wine in hand, on a private little comfy pool deck bed with good company, watching episodes of Girls. I thought the viewing party was a good idea for the event, especially since it’s HBO! Sonia and I even got a chance to be interviewed by HBO to discuss the show and our fab Unilocal Miami. My only caveat was that the tv screens were really crappy. Almost like the contrast and darkness had to be adjusted. But nonetheless, good times had. Had to make it an early night. I heard the food and photo booth were great! Thanks Johnny, kudos! :)

Good things will come whenever you walk into an event and there is someone handing you a glass of wine and someone offering you hors d’oeuvres at the door. Yes, the door was guarded by food and drink.
With a drink in hand, and after a quick photo boot session, it was time to indulge in one of my favorite pastimes: hanging out with Unilocalies.
But wait, what a beautiful space. I have seen some great views, and FIFTY Lounge offers you a postcard picture. Being able to see Miami at night from this rooftop was just amazing, not to say breathtaking and sound dull. To borrow the words of a fellow Unilocalie, what a phenomenal view.
The music was pumping, the DJ was rocking, and here come the Girls, well, the Girls episodes.
After the showing, the bars reopened, and the thirsty crowd was satiated. More drinks, more food, more talk, more Miami lights, only more and more.
Thank you HBO, thank you Unilocal,thank you Unilocal Miami crew.

I have missed the bitches of «girls» so much so when I heard Johnny set up an event to watch the first 2 episodes of the HBO show «girls» I was so excited. What better way to start the season watching with my Unilocal friends on top of this glamorous hotel.
All the staff of the Viceroy Hotel were so polite. I’m not talking about the servers only, even the valet and bartenders were great.
The moment I stepped out of the elevator on the 50^th floor I was greeted with red or white wine; I love my wine. Everything about this rooftop club was cool and elegant from the inside lounge to the pool deck area. The view was spectacular. And we couldn’t have asked for better weather. No rain out like we had at the Perry Hotel event and not muggy weather like we had at Jet Set Fête and Rusty Pelican.
After the show they opened the bar and began to serve the food. The steak skewers were my favorite of the night and I also really enjoyed the mini cupcakes and macaroons. Of course I loved the cupcakes; what girl doesn’t love her cupcakes?
Once the food and drinks were rolling, then the music started to get good. LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED ! ! ! And that is just what Natasha and I started, then came Gina, Lena, Brenda and a few other of us girls. Just like the show it was all about us «girls».
LOVED LOVED LOVED the photo booth. What a great idea. I loved hearing everyone’s new years resolution. I love the picture of glenn and I.
I had a great time and once again Johnny did a great job. You never let us down so I wasn’t surprised at all that tonight was wonderful. Thanks go out to Blue and HBO too.
Great start to 2013 watching my show «girls» in high class

The GIRLS are back…
on HBO… and what better way to check out the first two sex-​filled, awkward episodes with a couple hundred Unilocalers… atop the VICEROY in the FIFTY ULTRA LOUNGE (fifty as in 50 stories above the Miami skyline).
Come to think of it, I really didn’t think we were actually 50 stories up… it sure didn’t feel as if we were. I asked at least 4 people but it wasn’t until leaving time that I noticed 50 elevator buttons (so tempting to hit all the buttons on the way down). And what a view from up there of Biscayne Bay and Governor’s Cut.
Hard to find street parking so ended up with valet and technical difficulties delayed heading up to the 50^th floor venue but once things began to roll, we had wine/​beer in hand and forgot all about any hold ups…
Let the film roll… GIRLS is as brilliant as last season.
During the show the bars were closed and no food managed to flow. I didn’t mind but apparently some really did and slowly a lot of people cut their night short. To them I say thanks because once the show ended the bars reopened and servers brought out plenty of food (less competition to get our fair share).
The photo booth (StudioBooth) was a riot… give your resolution, have your picture taken, they add a caption with your new years resolution, add a filter to the photo to give it a unique look (kinda like instagram), they print you a copy and they have ipads hooked up for you to view and have them emailed if you wish. May I just say some of you are a riot… ROBERTO B… I think your picture was one of the funniest… holding the entire display from cupcakes (or something like that), a glass of wine, his cherub-​like smile and the funniest caption of the night (eat and f*#k a lot).
I’ve always liked the music at the events but last nights music was excellent… loved watching the girls breaking out their dance moves.
I must’ve had a great time considering Marisol and I were the last guests to leave
Didn’t expect much of a party considering it was just a viewing party but last night was top-​notch and a pleasant surprise. Props to Johnny T, Blue, HBO, StudioBooth, the Viceroy Fifty Ultra Lounge and all those people that worked their tails off making our night memorable.

JOHNNY T DOES IT AGAIN Johnny i thought you lost your rain touch, not a cloud in the sky then 5 miles out on I 95 North to Fort Lauderdale, Wham, Bam HERE’S JOHNNY. Where is the ark, where is Noah. Today 0% chance of rain. Bottle it you can make a million $$$$. The event was fantastic, the views from the 50^th floor, Wow. It was like a trip to Conney Island in Brighton Beach. The food, the music a solid 10 **
Thank you once again for a great time. By the way its 11;35pm and still raining in Fort Lauderdale but you are the sunshine of our events.

I swear… I arrived home with a broken foot… I kid you not, either that or a black widow spider crawled up inside my boot. and the poison is eeking it’s way through my veins as type… making this THE last review I will ever write… so cherish my words. Either way… I have one foot that looks respectable and one that is like something out of Lord of the Rings. Huge & mottled and otherworldly. I should have known something was gone awry when Nate started gyrating to the beats being pumped out on the 50^th Floor of the Viceroy. Was it TRULY the 50^th Floor? Spectacular views of our awesome city!!!
But I digress.
The absolute funnest part of this event for me, was to interact and watch one of my most current favorite shows on TV with like minded people Sitting with people and going «hang on… who’s THAT guy?» and «OMG was she such a whore last season?»…that was epic. Gleaning tid bits of information from my fellow watchers nearby was priceless. Who knew that Lena Dunham’s mother featured in that last episode?
Getting to interact and have some fun pics taken at the photobooth afterwards prompted some spontaneous hilarity.
I love to hang with my Unilocal buddies, share a few drinks, have some nibbles and just laugh. Laughing is what I do best with you guys.
