I’m so happy to have Phillips Park close to the home. Although small, it fills some voids in this side of the Coral Gables community. First off, I frequent the park to play tennis. There are only two courts but usually at least one is empty, except for weekends when your best bet is to get there before 9 in the morning in order to ensure a spot. When it rains, inconsistencies in the courts make removing puddles very difficult so it’s usually not a good bet unless you like playing with soggy balls(insert joke here). Apart from the tennis courts, there is a playground, kickball dugout/home base, basketball court and open field where people often play soccer. A track circling the open field is prime for runners/walkers and I usually take a few laps if the tennis courts are occupied. If you want to have a picnic, there are a couple tables and benches to camp out. Publix is also down the block if you need a snack! Overall, don’t come here expecting Phillips Park but for a little slice of greenery in Coral Gables, Phillips Park fits the bill.
