My friend dragged my husband and me to this shop when we were near Micanopy. I was reluctant to go but in the end I’m so glad I went. The shop looks small when you first enter, but then it just keeps going and going. There is so much to see that we had to make a few rounds just to make sure we didn’t miss anything. And don’t forget to look up: Had we not, we wouldn’t have found our newest favorite house decoration: a flying rusted-metal owl. There is so much to see that even my husband enjoyed himself and did not get bored as quickly as he does in other stores. Prices for items ranged. There is something for everyone’s budget here. Sometimes you can find hidden treasures(i.e., things that you would think would cost more but are rather inexpensive). Most items are in the $ 10 to $ 50 range, with some larger items and furniture priced higher and the occasional item priced lower. The customer service is excellent. As we were shopping, one of the workers noticed that my arms were full, and she offered to take all of my things to the front of the store so that my hands could be free. This was very much appreciated. We spoke with the shop owners at checkout, and they mentioned that they switch out most of their inventory regularly(every so many weeks), so there is always something new if you want to visit more often than once a year. They also have a good selection of seasonal items(Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.). It would be a great place to find unique home decorations for the holidays. Overall, we were very pleased with our visit. Spent just under $ 100 and got a cool doorknocker, an hourglass, some cute vintage animal silhouettes, and that metal flying owl. We will definitely be back if we’re ever in Micanopy again.

Not sure what all the hype was about. It was fine, but nothing like I expected based on the website. Of course I am not a huge shopper and half the store was closed for renovations, so I am guessing that was the problem. Lots of cute stuff though.

How quaint and cute! While driving back home to Orlando, we stopped by Micanopy to check out their antique shops. When you first stepped into The Shop, you feel as though you just stepped into a story book that is full of everything you can imagine. I want to buy everything in the store and decorate my own house according to whatever season it is! The Shop looks looks like at one point, it was a house with tiny rooms. In each tiny doorless room, there are decorations and whimsical items based on the color, season, or animal. The set ups are what you’d see in home catalogs and are put together very well. I was ooh’ing and ahh’ing everytime I walked into a different part of the Shop… it was so neat!

Oh how I love The Shop! What is not to love about this cluttered, fun, funky, charming, fairy land of a store? Let me put it to you this way, at Christmas, the shop owners hung a Christmas tree upside down from the ceiling in the always welcoming entrance to the store. It’s whimsy in full scale. These ladies know their stuff. Their store changes with the seasons, which means that there is always something new rotating in and out of display in the front room. Sneak around to the back and find some cute Easter or Fourth of July items. But be careful, for around the corner from there is what can only be described as Halloween Land! Witches, black cats, and pumpkins galore 365 days a year. It’s bliss for someone like me. The Shop is chock full of pretty much anything you’d want to decorate your home with. Melting glass lighting fixtures, antiqued statues, items that look like they were hand selected in bazaars in Abu Dabi and Mexico City. One of the best parts about this store are the owners and store clerks. These ladies are friendly, funny, and the best part, invested in their customers. If the store is slow they will ask what we’ve been up to that day and what we’re going to be doing later. On busier days they still take the time to smile at us warmly and welcome us like we’ve just entered their home. This is important to me. I’ve been in The Shop on days when it was overflowing with customers and I still received genuine smiles and warm greetings from the clerks. They appreciate us. It makes me feel as if I’m supporting good folk, I’m not sure how else to describe it. There’s no better than thou attitude being thrown around there. We’re all in it together! Indeed there have been times when it’s been so busy that I’ve pitched in to help wrap up my breakable purchases and the clerk at the counter has chuckled and thanked me for helping her out. I want to do that. I want the shop people to know that I dig them, I dig their store and if I’m one customer in the line of 10 I’m going to help out so I can get moving so someone else can have a smile put on their face. Oh, and while they do ask no drinks or food inside the store, they don’t seem to have any problems with cameras. There are no secrets at The Shop unless it’s the plans for the upcoming holiday décor! That, I hope, they keep a secret always. I love walking into the store upon the holidays and the season changes and being greeted with some new fantastical, whimsical scenery. Brava, madams! Brava!
