It was a busy Sunday morning, so crowed in the dining area. Since there’s probably half an hour waiting time, we chose to order take out. The guy told us should been done in 20 minutes. Just two damn omelettes, they are not two hour long home made beef stew. We finally got our food after The Whole Hour waiting. And the food is not that good. Not recommended.

We keep coming back and have not been disappointed with anything! I finally took my daughter yesterday and she had the biscuits and sausage gravy. She said this was better than what she eats down south!!! I had the Cook Room Florentine and WOW. The staff is always so friendly and helpful.

Was staying out east for a wedding and had some time to spare in the morning so I decided to drive to the cookroom given its positive reviews. Staff as great and gave it that warm home feel. The food great. Finally got some sausage gravy. Food will not disappoint

I’ve been here about a handful of times and so far have never been disappointed. The food, and the specials they have are just great every time. Portions are pretty big so you might end up with a doggy bag. Also the wait staff are super friendly. One downside could be the wait time for a table, but it’s definitely worth it! Don’t forget, cash only!

My favorite breakfast place! Staff is really friendly and food so beyond amazing and huge portions… I always tell people about this place it’s so good! Only thing that stinks that is that they only take cash but if you know that before hand it’s no problem… definitely recommend coming here!

Killing all the rumors! Ordered the California Eggs Benedict with a side of corned beef hash, man, the flavors were to die for! The service is great and the staff is so personable! The only thing is you need to come prepared and have cash on hand, no credit cards accepted. This place is a must try and repeat again!!! 20160604: Came back again today and had the Cookroom Florentine, pretty much an eggs Benedict with creamy spinach and tomato, topped with hollandaise and bacon bits! Killer!!! Order it!!!

Excellent food! Got an artichoke, red pepper, and provolone omelet. It has so many artichokes I was in love. I’m not a Fan of eggs so I love when my omelets are packed with food. The cook room did an excellent job. It was so big I had to take the rest home. The blueberry pancakes taste homemade and everything is freshly cooked for you. I can’t complain about the food or the service. Great breakfast spot but always remember cash only!

Most favorite breakfast place. A great find with amazing choices. We ordered the red velvet pancakes and the French toast stuffed. It came out quickly and was like a gift from the Gods.

A little off the path cozy diner in a retro style Airstream. Breakfast was fantastic!!! Service was excellent! And everyone was friendly. But now for the good stuff… the food. I had the Huevos Rancheros and the BF had Farmers Omelette. Food was really good, so definately give this place a try… and don’t forget to get an egg cream.

Finally stopped by after passing this spot by for years. I should have stopped in sooner! This place is fantastic! I am not a sandwich person but the turkey Swiss sandwich was awesomely delicious! I wouldn’t even share it with my husband! I highly recommend this place! The wait staff were very personable and the décor very retro. A really great find!

Their French toast is so dry I had to drown it in syrup. I ordered it with a side of bacon and they put it on top and covered it with confectionery sugar. I did complain when I saw her cover the bacon in sugar so they made me fresh bacon which was nice. So if you’re claustrophobic don’t go here. It also seemed like there was a pissing match going on between the waitresses which made the visit kind of awkward. I will definitely try them out again but not order the French toast!

I came here because it was recommended by a friend who helped us move. This will be our to go spot every weekend! I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the food and service. The outside of this place looks questionable as I heard before looks can be deceiving. I ordered the huevos rancheros which was delicious! The second time around we ordered the red velvet pancakes and they were amazing!!! Definitely recommend to come early there can be a wait. Which is worth waiting. Also the staff all are very friendly.

She said: My first time and I’m definitely coming back. My egg sliders were amazing, their homemade biscuits might be the BEST I’ve ever tasted. Menu has typical breakfast/lunch dishes, with a few nice different house specials. Cash only, not too bad of a wait on a Sunday morning. He said: Huevos Rancheros were«alright». They used a tomato paste to make the salsa which probably would have tasted better if they were fresh chopped tomatoes, but biscuits were on point. The Coca-Cola was really good with helping the hangover I had from the previous night.

I have lived in middle island for five years and have always driven by wanted to try this little place. I was actually disappointed, it was so packed and the place is so small it just wasn’t a good first time. The food was good, not amazing and the service was horrible. She actually forgot my food and I had to wait even longer because she did place the order. Overall just OK.

The outside never drew our curiousity but the place always had jam packed cars. After a few friends raved about it we decided to give it a try. It was truly amazing. Loved the food and the inside décor really brought you back to old time diners. We really enjoyed it and even likened it to Mel’s Diner on Alice

I’ve eaten here twice and have taken food to-go twice and have always been very happy — and well fed! Lots and lots of food — and very good food at that. Great service to boot. The coffee is even great, which is something that always strikes me funny but isn’t always the case at diners and other breakfast joints. You really can’t go wrong with the omelettes, they can feed two and are packed with goodies. I go with a friend(s) and we usually get an order of whatever pancakes we feel like that day and an omelette and to share and I still wind up taking a doggie bag. Oh and the home fries are good too. To me, most home fries always look good but don’t actually taste good — these look and taste great. I’ve also had the sausage gravy and it was AMAZING. I would slather it on my arm and eat it that way because it’s just that good. I know someone else complained about the onions in the sausage gravy, but honestly that’s one of the components that gives it its yummy flavor. I only had sausage gravy a few times before because it’s always a let down — it’s always something that LOOKS and sound appealing but it never actually TASTES good. It’s usually a flour-ey, tasteless glob of goo so I never order it. This sausage gravy has bits of sausage and onion and it’s just dang good. I had some left over that I took to-go and I was putting it on everything. I’m trying to contain myself just thinking about it. Even their lunch items are great. I’ve ordered(or sampled friends) sandwiches and they are filled to the brim and tasty. I think I know where I’m going for lunch today!

My wife and I pass this diner all the time, we live a few miles away and its always packed, cars parked everywhere. We assumed that it must be a great little diner because of the popularity. Assuming was a big mistake. The staff was very friendly, service with a smile. The food was ok, nothing special, burger and fries, can’t really mess that up. My issue was with the cleanliness, the place looks old and unkempt. Everything but the tables and seats were dusty, tears on the seats, missing stools(a garbage can took the place of a missing stool) bathroom was dirty. My coffee cup was served to me with lipstick stains. I felt uncomfortable there, I felt like taking a shower and antibiotics afterwards. I won’t be back. I give it 4 stars for service and friendliness. I would rather make the trip to Georges diner in patchogue.

The Cook Room. Pulling up to the cook room, you may wonder how you’ll fit in this mobile home of a restaurant. Then sitting down in a kind of dingy diner, you’ll wonder if you made the right decision… soon enough your waitress will come over with a great big welcoming smile and you’ll start to feel better. after ordering, waiting, and receiving your meal, you’ll have no doubt that this is a great breakfast spot. If I was closer I’d come more often for this home style cooking. Great stuff!

I think I have some mixed feelings about this place. I had eggs over easy with home fries. I also had orange juice. The eggs were fine; the fries were just fattening. I didn’t really like them. The orange juice was the best thing I ordered. The parking spots are limited and they only take cash! I read that in the other reviews, but there is no harm in saying it again.

Came here on a Sunday morning before apple picking with my boyfriend. My sister and her boyfriend have come here on multiple occasions and raved about it so we figured we’d give it a try. As we walked in, it was just us 2, so we were able to be seated right away. That was cool. However, we sat a tiny 2 top, and that’s why I am giving it 4 starts instead of 5. I felt extremely cramped, our table was in between 2 other booths with another 2 top behind us which was also in between 2 more booths. If you’ve ever been in here before, you know how small it is. If you haven’t been in here before, its very small, so wait for a booth if one isn’t open. Our waitress was great. She was very kind and not over-bearing, which was awesome for the morning. We ordered coffee, and that was piping hot. It also tasted pretty good, so we were off to a better start after being cramped. Now, my boyfriend and I usually don’t do this, but we ordered the same thing. We both saw«sausage gravy with homemade biscuits and eggs» and INSTANTLY knew that’s what we were both getting. We usually get different things so we can try each others, but it just looked SO good we had to get our own. We are both SOTHANKFUL we each got our own. It was DELICIOUS. The gravy was flavorful, and the biscuits were awesome. They came with home fries, which I wasn’t a fan of, but everything else was awesome. My boyfriend ate it all and I ate most(minus the home fries.) They give you a pretty awesome portion size so you definitely wont leave hungry. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back. I wont get the home fries, and I’ll request to sit in a booth, but I will definitely be back. P.S it’s cash only. Not sure if they have an ATM. So make sure you bring it!

Just left here and had a really bad experience. While we did go on a Sunday afternoon and expected a bit of a wait, we waited quite a while to sit a table of 5. We were first seated in a four top booth with a chair on the end next to the bathroom and after taking our orders the staff then moved us to a larger booth that seated us comfortably. After moving tables we waited 45 minutes before receiving our food and by the time we got our order the food was cold. To top off our crumby experience, when we left the restaurant their cesspool was overflowing outside in the parking lot and It smelled awful! The food was decent, but not worth the wait to be seated + wait for food, smell, crumby service, and cash-only policy.

This is cool spot for breakfast or brunch. It’s old school local diner, basically, with long bar seats and booths along window side. Lots of locals, bikers or just summer travelers. Good mix. The«no thrills» atmosphere works. Owner & wait stuff are friendly and efficient. Orange juice is fresh, served in cute milk bottle — love it. Coffee is good and strong, too. The omelettes — oh, man, the omelettes! It is freshly made and absolutely delicious — stuffed to the brim with cheese & other fixings. HUGE. I mean it. Huuuuuuuuge. It is bigger than a boat in the marina. It can easily feed whole family — or just you if you brought your appetite! (Yes, I ate all of it. Yes, I am small girl. Don’t you dare to judge! Jeeping all day brings out a hungry animal.) Yummmmmm! ~afternoon food coma~

Not sure what’s happening here but the last few times we’ve come for breakfast I’ve been disappointed The staff has seemed to changeover. We ordered two pancakes, cinnamon raisin French toast and side of scram eggs. Very long wait. I guess that’s why they did not post a specials chalk board today . The pancakes were flavorless the French toast was well done on the outside and mush in the middle If I didn’t order cinnamon raisin I would never guessed it had cinnamon and raisins in it Very disappointed to what it used to be.

This was the only brunch place nearby skydive south shore so we decided to give it a try. It’s CASHONLY! I haven’t been in a diner since the beginning of high school. I ordered my usually western omelette without realizing it had ham. I ended up picking it all out and it was still eh; I could have simply made this within a few minutes. My sky diving buddy ordered pancakes and they were huge! He couldn’t even finish them! FYI — their juice is not freshly squeezed.

What an absolutely fantastic place. If only it was closer to my house! Eating half of the breakfast there kept us full all day until dinner, and then eating the leftovers for breakfast the next morning kept us full, again, until dinner. Not sure if you’ve done the math, but that’s basically like getting four meals for the price of one, and that one price was about $ 30 including the tip and unlimited coffee. The details: Farmer’s Omelet — stuffed to the brim with ham, bacon, sausage and cheese, about 2 inches high and completely covering edge to edge of the 15 inch wide plate it’s served on, paired along with some of the tastiest home fries I’ve ever eaten, good sized chunks of potatoes with green peppers and onions. Two slices of whole wheat toast buttered, and a neverending cup of excellent coffee-shop coffee. The wife got three blueberry pancakes about the size of a 50’s Chevrolet hub cap… teeming with fresh blueberries. She ate just ONE and had to take the other 3 home. At about 8 bucks I can’t see how they’re even making a profit! Heard good things about this place and they’re all true. The wife and I have decided that every trip out to the NoFo to taste wine shall begin with a breakfast base from The Cookroom. There’s no better way to start your weekend. Nicely done!

That’s why a five star review for visiting a restaurant on the first time is something I rarely give out. I mean, I have an allengence to Unilocal and to America. What am I, some cheap set of goods? So, its a rainy Saturday and I have a honeydoo list a mile long. Let me drop off the car for an oil change, grab some breakfast and go to Home Depot. I have a set of marching orders, I know what to do. We stop at The Cook Room for another breakfast treat. My wife orders Egg Whites with Toast. I had plans to order a crazy omelet but there are too many folks talking about the French Toast. We breeze in, sit at the counter and order coffee. I’m watching them work, Orange Juice out of a bottle. Chocolate Milk is syrup out a bottle, everything is out box/mix/can. What I witnessed was an unspeaking horror. I see the waitress(It might be the owners daughter or sister) take a tall cold jug of COFFEE and pour it into a pot to sit on a warmer. Now if your my Unilocal follower, Coffee is my lifeblood. This act of treason just kicked all credibility to the curb. Then, my wife is served toast thats almost burnt. I turn around, the lady behind me also has an almost burnt piece of toast. I tell our waitress about my toast and the toast behind me. No apology, it was more like, we’re popular and deal with it. The over cooked toast room? Yeah, I’m done.

Long have I tried to convince my friends to come here and long have I failed. We call this place the«trailer» for its exterior appearance, and though that probably won’t change anytime soon, it appears we’re soon to be trailer regulars. When we arrived here at around 10:30am on Sunday, a lines of cars stretched from the trailer to the end of the road. It was around a half hour wait. Coming even half an hour later(or better, one hour) would have probably more or less eliminated the wait. You get a lot of food. The plate you receive will be HUGE and chances are you won’t be able to finish it. If you get the iced tea, it’ll come in a HUGE mason jar and it would be impressive if you made so much as a 30% dent in it. The food is delicious and comforting. I ordered Uncle Pete’s Double Dipped Double Stuffed French Toast. It didn’t look that incredible, but oh man, when I put that first bite into my mouth it was like woah, woah, woah where is this flavor coming from.(In case you’re wondering, the toast is stuffed with over-ripened bananas.) My friends J, M, and Dmitri also loved their food. We were all taunted by the tray of large muffins at the front. Shout out to the one with the X at the end of her name.
