Sat down at 11:05am on Father’s Day. Ordered eggs Benedict and French toast. Food came out to my table at 12:23pm. Though the eggs Benedict and hash browns were excellent, they were not worth the hour and fifteen minute wait. The wait staff were generally friendly and understanding. As I looked around the restaurant while I was waiting, no more than two tables were ever eating at once even though the place was full. I felt like I was on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares and Gordon Ramsay was gonna pop out of the kitchen cursing.

The first time my wife and I went, the food was standard diner fare. The service was a bit off, but even the best waitress can have an off day, so we usually do not hold that against the wait staff. The second time we went the food tasted awful. I could not place the terrible taste, but the waitress was able to help me pinpoint it… an uncleaned grill. I was not happy about the meal, informed the waitress thusly, paid, and left. Today we went back and brought our daughter. The special was Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. It was absolutely disgusting. I could taste that terrible grill and something else. The scrambled eggs were a disaster. How someone can mess-up scrambled eggs is beyond me. My daughter ordered pancakes, which tasted off and had the consistency of rubber. We decided that we would never return, ever again. My stomach has been cramping all afternoon. Food Poisoning? Perhaps. So far, every restaurant in Middleborough is a swing and a miss. Sadly, the people of Middleborough do not know what good food is since they all rave about their restaurants, and all of them suck. But the Flat Iron Café is one of the worst amongst them.

I’ve been there a couple of time for breakfast and I absolutely love it. Delicious food and coffee, nice employees, very comfortable atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!

Went here for lunch with my cousin today. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries & soda water. Our waitress was polite and prompt. Had a good experience here, i would recommend it to others.

I’ve given this place many tries and have been underwhelmed by the food. I love the waitstaff, and breakfast there is good which is the reason they got 2 stars instead of 1. If you are looking for dinner, there are better choices in Middleboro.

Wonderful neighborhood diner. We have only been there for lunch and dinner, but they have good burgers. The only thing I have tried is the BBQ burger because its so wonderful. The servers are great and very personable. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for casual diner fare in a very welcoming environment.

I love this place. It looks so small from the outside but its really cute inside. Has a cute breakfast bar and a little train that runs around the ceiling. They’re always quick to refill your coffee and the food is always good. They’re lunch is pretty good as well. And most importantly, they’re affordable.

Driving through this town that time forgot, my wife spotted the name Flat Iron Café. OK, relative to the Flat Iron building in New York City? I’m just a bug eyed tourist looking to photograph cranberry bogs and hungry for brunch, but curious. Walk in and instantly feel the diner, nestled into this funky building with interiors that speak of 50’s corporate carpet, hung ceilings and open wait stations. We’re talkin’ funky furnishings. Throw in some squeaky model train choo chooing around the ceiling and one can understand the Tom Thumb circus connection. But, look again its clean. Look at the specials and get the idea they’re inventive… Pulled pork with Jack omlette for one. Wider variety than most diners, they offer a variety of potatoes beyond hash browns including home made french fries. They bake their own muffins, offer 50% off pizza Tuesday night, and musical weekends. With the value they offer they may be doing more for the town than the Mayor. I would bet the Mayor eats here more than he or she would like to admit. But if I had to bark… don’t call your patrons — «guys» — that’s for bars.

The Flat Iron does some things well and several things poorly. Their strengths are breakfast and pizza. Their weaknesses are everything else, including the service.
