I get so excited when someone says«let’s get ice cream!» but my excitement dies when they say lets go to Blizzard Island. They have so many unique flavors but ironically they all lack flavor. The scoops are light and not thick and gooey like ice cream should be. The scoopers in the recent summers have also had attitude problems.

Update: The owner wouldn’t refund my money for the stale cake, but the manager who came in on Monday did. Thank you, manager! Because of the owner, who would not take responsibility for selling stale food, I am afraid to order another cake.(The cake smelled horrible the minute I cut into it! What a way to ruin a birthday party!) That’s too bad, because even though I prefer small businesses to chains, I order my ice cream cakes from Baskin Robbins now.

Hate this place. Over priced and not even worth the money. Went at 9:15 one night(not knowing that they close at 9), the door wasn’t locked and as I almost walked in, I got 3 teenage brats yell at me «we’re closed!» Oh really? Is that why the door was unlocked? Whatever. I’d rather get boxed ice cream at quick chek across the street. Maybe then I won’t get yelled at. The only reason they have a chance of staying in business is because there are no other ice cream places real close by. So I guess the owner lucked out there!

Good atmosphere and reasonable pricing. Best Ice Cream shop in Piscataway. Only downside is 4% surcharge on cc

BREAKINGTHELAW by charging a 4% surcharge for debit or credit. On top of that I brought my family there for ice cream. I asked for 4 small cones with sprinkles. As I handed one to my 5 year old it was a little lopsided, so I asked for a cup and a spoon so he wouldnt make a mess. When they rang me up they charged me for 3 cones, one dish, 4 sprinkles and $ 1 for an extra cone. SERIOUSLYYOURECHARGINFMEFORTHECONE/BOWL WHENTHEYMADEITLOPSIDED??? I complained about that and was told its their policy that the owner counts everything. I paid with my debit visa and was told there is an automatic 4% surcharge for all credit transactions. I told the server that the 4% surcharge was against the law, she said«A Lot of customers say this, but theres nothing I can do its in the computer that way» I told her that she was breaking the law by enforcing it and she said, «yeah I know I hear that all the time — Ha ha» Notifying the BBB, Visa, MC and everyone I know to stay away form this crap-hole. Obviously customer service ans satisfaction is at the bottom of their list, and making a buck is the only thing they care about.

Awesome ice cream! Can get a little crowded on hot nights, but they move the line quickly. Menu is similar to Dairy Queen, but the quality is much better as it is home made and very fresh!

Blizzard Island is one of the few remaining«mom & pop» ice cream joints that I know of, and for good reason too. On any given summer night it is not uncommon for the line to be out the door. The ice cream is fresh and home made and oh so delicious. The staff are nice and helpful and the prices are reasonable… and did I mention the ice cream was good?

All the ice cream here is homemade by Chris, one of the owners. She and her husband own the place. They also do great ice cream cakes. The kids that work here are all pretty friendly, and they have a lot of flavors and toppings to choose from. They’ll make a shake out of any ice cream you want. I think my favorite is the chocolate.
