This place had delicious food at a fair price. Unfortunately they are no longer in business at this location. They closed up a few years ago.

Famous Pizza recently moved closer to downtown, away from the Ace Hardware plaza they used to be in a few blocks up the street — and further from Jerry’s Pizza that just relocated to South Main Street as well, I think with Famous being closer to a few bars and the Wesleyan campus it may help them with late-night pizza orders. I had never been to Famous Pizza before, so I can’t comment if the quality changed with their location change. When they were up the street, I had heard a few people say that this was their favorite pizza in Middletown, so I had to stop in and check it out — I had tried a few times at the old location but they were never open. They seem to have more open hours at the new spot and finally I was able to grab a few slices to try last night. I am not a big fan of Greek style pizza, which is what Famous serves — so if you don’t like it Greek, skip it and go up the street to Jerry’s. that said, the pizza was ok for a greek pizza. crust on the thickish rigid side, like a spongey cardboard — when you hold the slice up it stays flat and solid — the tomato sauce was on the pastey side but there wasnt really too much or too little sauce, a good amount — and the cheese was a rubbery skin layer on top. Not the best Greek pizza I have had, but really in the OK range of things. Late night if you want pizza, this will fill the need without having to resort to Dominos. They take credit cards, and they deliver. If i had to say i had a favorite greek style pizza in Middletown, it would go to Famous. but I can’t recall any other pizza like this in town.
