I’m new to the area and haven’t had much luck finding decent pizza despite many personal recommendations, so some family and I figured we’d give Fratelli’s a shot given the positive feedback on Unilocal. They even boasted a #1 ranking for best pizza in Middletown featured on a rather dubious list of recommendations on . How could I go wrong?! We all live/have lived in the city and northern NJ, so the standard for good pizza among us is set pretty high. We decided to keep things simple by ordering one large plain and one large with mushrooms – opting for delivery. The pizza was delivered within the promised time – always a plus – and everybody was ready to eat. Upon opening the boxes we could already tell that we were in for yet another Middletown disappointment. The pizza lacked that zesty, «tomatoey» aroma you expect from good sauce and looked rather thick and doughy… not the appearance you’d expect from a proper thin crust wood-fired pizza. Hopefully this would be a good case of looks being deceiving? No such luck. The mushroom slice had no flavor whatsoever. The sauce lacked any kind of appreciable taste and I could immediately tell the mushrooms were of the cheap, tasteless canned variety. Not cool when you’re charged a good amount for toppings. Cheese wasn’t half bad… not much grease, but that hardly made up for the tasteless dough and crust. Ditto on the plain slice. Theme here? Tasteless. Everybody in the family agreed. In a town that features an endless sea of Italian restaurants and pizzerias, Fratelli’s is just another fish out of water. The search for good pizza in the area continues… 2 stars for friendly service and on-time delivery. Pizza by itself is hardly worth 1 star.

We have tried every pizza place in Middletown. There are a lot of them. This is the best pizza! Even my daughter loves it, and she hates pizza. She’s very particular. My girls asked to have lunch there two days in a row… it’s that good. I love the Grandma pizza. Delicious! I lived in Manhattan for 7 years… I know good pizza.

Fratellis is a great local pizzeria for people in Middletown New Jersey. Tonight my food was delivered in 25 minutes and the pizza was absolutely delicious as is tradition. If you’re in the red bank: Middletown area you can count on fratellis to come through correctly with deliciousness and service.

I’ve been going to Fratelli’s for over 20 years and love it! The family who owns it is great and the staff always greets you upon walking up to the counter to place an order. The addition of the brick oven and other dining area is amazing and a stellar idea! I recommend this place to friends all the time and a lot of my family frequent it. So if you’re in town, stop by and enjoy some food here.

Best peperoni pizza I have ever had anywhere. Their chicken parmesan is also excellent.

Went to Fratelli’s based on the suggestion of a local as quoted as «some of the best pizza in Middletown.» If Frateli’s is the best Middletown has to offer, then there is no hope in this pizza forsaken neighborhood. Where do I begin? Ordered Mozzarella sticks and three slices. One sausage, plain and mushroom. Once the sticks came out I knew we were in trouble. The sauce was 100% thick, tomato pastey awfulness… The mozzarella sticks themselves were a soggy, limp shell which homed imitation cheese product that was semi hard. Strange for something that came right out a deep fryer. The pizza itself was just horrendous. I could not get past half a slice. Eating anything more would have been torture, yes it was that bad. The crust was doughy, soggy, the sauce on the pizza was the same tomato paste crap from those stinking mozz sticks and the mozzarella on the pizza was of low quality. It has to rank up as some of the greasiest I have had in my time of consuming pizza. Low quality garbage. And it all starts with the low quality products this place is using. Switch suppliers.

Okay, it is in a strip mall. The entrance looks like any run of the mill grab a slice pizza place. Walk through that to a so-so dining room, but don’t let that push you off. Opening the menu I find one of the specials is pappardelle(fresh made) with a bolognese sauce. Got the calamari. The calamari was suppose to be hot, but it was not. The calamari was perfectly fried though a bit over salted. But, then the entrée’s arrived and were great. My pappardelle was perfect. The sauce was flavorful and coated the pappardelle just the right way. The other entrees were chicken franciase and penne in vodka sauce. I would happily return.
