Love these donuts, especially the chocolate frosting. I am not usually a donut person but these are worth every bite of the calories! Worth the trip to Newport and if you don’t make it there grab one at the Coffee n Bagel Connection in Narragansett on the way to the beach. They carry them there as well.

Line wrapped around the building for a donut shop… Typical Rhode Island behavior but let me get in here and see what all the fuss is about! Limited front parking but there is more parking in the rear. Quick friendly service but at the end of the day, if you’ve had one donut you’ve had them all. Didn’t really see much to go crazy over but maybe it’s the coffee that’s the big secret… Will we ever know??? Until next time!

The donuts are good however staff is always unbelievably rude !!! This occasion we had a coupon for buy 6 get 6 free, we were told the malassadas were same price as donuts when we asked so wanted 6 of those and 6 donuts and the lady RUDELY said«I’m not going to do that, you either get 12 malassadas or 12 donuts» REALLY !!! Was it too much to ask to split being you just told me they’re the same price ?? Just rude and bad attitude, like she was doing us a favor by selling us donuts. As you can read, we are not the only ones to complain about RUDEEMPLOYEES. We live close by but making this our last trip there, no need to be treated like crap by anyone ! UPDATEAPRIL2016: I keep getting harassed by either the owner or employee for my review; messages swearing at me, calling me names, etc. More proof this establishment has issues in management. PLEASESTOPHARASSINGME !

My boyfriend and I have discovered Ma’s Donuts just last week because Dunkin Donuts has been awful lately! My boyfriend has lived on the Island for 22 years and never had it until last week and he has been stopping here every morning instead of Dunkin’s. I get the caramel ice coffee and he has tried the Twix and pumpkin spice iced coffee and he hasn’t been disappointed. He also has been getting a ham, egg and cheese on a plain bagel and he says it is absolutely delicious! He thought about trying a donut the other day but he keeps getting the breakfast sandwich because he loves it! Either you live on the Island or you’re just visiting I suggest making a stop at Ma’s Donuts!

I’m new to the area, and have heard nothing but amazing things about this place. Since I had just done my laundry down the street(and had cash for a change), I stopped via their drive thru. I can’t go back anytime soon. Not because of anything they did, but because the donuts are just that awesome mixed with my desire to not weigh 300. Great price, $ 7.99/dozen. I cut several in half to try today, and they are exactly what you would expect from a small shop donut store. They taste awesome, great textures, awesome flavors. Looking back, I should have ordered either just 2 or a half dozen. I could see myself polishing off the dozen today… so that means my coworkers will probably be getting a surprise.

The coffee was ok but the donuts are the reason this place is hands-down competition for the nearby D&D. We got the Boston Cream donuts and they were fresh, and delicious. Highly recommended to check this place out if you are in the area!

We checked in via Unilocal and got two donuts for free with a large coffee. The coffee wasn’t too shabby, and the donuts were fresh. I wish we were around on a Sunday to check out the malassadas. Maybe next time!

Since I know a donut pretty well, and donuts and I have been pals for years, I didn’t think the donuts I had here were all that great. I really tried to get into the apple fritter, but it was way too sweet and didn’t have that crisp on the outside that makes a fritter legit. I did however like their coffee, which was awesome on a cold evening!

I’ve been stopping at Ma’s on and off over the years, practically since the day they opened and I’ve never been disappointed. The coffee is great, they have several flavors to choose from, as well as cappuccino’s and other coffee based drinks, smoothies too, which are fantastic! Their donuts are awesome, they’re the only place in the area that still makes donuts on site, and you can taste the difference. I’ve had several of their pastries as well, the cinnamon sticks and cinnamon rolls are to die for, the crossiants are the best in the area and if I still worked down the street from this place I’d weigh 500 lbs!!! Customer service is fantastic, in all honesty I don’t even know if I could handle making all those coffee drinks, serving everyone and handling the cash with a smile on my face, but these girls do, they’re fast and efficient, the drive through line moves quickly as well as the line inside. They’re also open 24 hours for that 3am coffee roll craving! They also do pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas, special order birthday cake donuts which I’ve never tried but they look awesome, Cro-nuts which I did try and I loved them, but have to limit myself! I’ve never tried the pies, but I know they’re special order and since I doubt I’ll have time to make my own pies this holiday season i’ll be giving them a try and will update when I do! Give them a try, you’ll be happier!

Friendly staff and a wide selection of donuts and sandwiches too. Plus if you check in on Unilocal you get 2 free donuts with the purchase of a large drink. We had the Boston crème donut, Ma’s donut, and a chocolate covered one. All were very tasty and fresh. They also have a drive-thru and are open 24hrs! Took off a star because the dining area had a dirty floor that needed to be swept, but didn’t let that stop me.

We stopped at this bakery/café on a whim. We only had a coffee and two donuts, but we were very happy with the service. The cashier was pleasant and willing to tell as about the different breads and baked goods. Most of all it seemed as though they were genuinely happy to help us, which certainly leaves an impression. As far as the food, my husband had a flavored coffee and we had a smores as well as a butter nut cake donut. They were very good and fresh considering we stopped at 5:30 on a week night. Worth at least a stop for a donut, I imagine the other menu offerings are tastes as well.

Nice little doughnut shop open 24⁄7! — Unilocal checkin gives 2 free donuts with large beverage purchase it’s worth coming for. — friendly cashier was patient and professional. I went at 4pm so there was no line. When I asked he for her favorite coffee($ 1.80-$ 2.69 depending on flavor and size) she advised me which 4 – 5 flavors were brewed that way and which were«sugar shots» as she called them. Her fav was snicker doodle, which had a nice cinnamon flavor. — for my two free donuts, I tried the Boston cream and the blueberry cake($.92 for 1 to $ 7.49 for a dozen). They ha a slight crunch on outside and soft inside. The flavors and textures were similar to Dunkin donuts, but larger and tasted slightly better. — 4 stars for the Unilocal checkin free donuts, friendly service, and being open 24⁄7. I’ll definitely be coming back when I have to go to the airport at 5am!

Definitely worth a visit to try the malasadas. Ma’s version is light, sugar coated with a hint of lemon. Very delicious. A super-fluffy light version of fried dough. BTW, they are quite large 5−6″ in diameter — a lot larger and no filling compared to the versions we’ve had in the past, but still delicious! Granulated sugar can get everywhere as feed yourself. Donuts and sandwiches are good as well, but the malasadas are the draw.

This place was okay. I had looked forward to coming here after reading all the great reviews and seeing The Unilocal check in deal. We ordered the honey dipped donut, Boston cream, and Ma’s donut. The honey dipped was good. It is a yeast donut so it was nice and light. Ma’s donut was a cake donut and it was a little heavy. It had good flavor, though. The Boston cream was average. Looking back I should have tried the malasadas since I think they are pretty popular here. The customer service wasn’t very friendly, and my daughter reported that the bathroom was so gross it made her bladder dry up. I probably won’t be back.

I really want to like Ma’s Donuts. The sign and name are charming. The employees? Not so much. On one occasions, the female who helped me was not exactly friendly but not snotty either. On my second visit, the male employee was rude, unhelpful, and gross. Customer service is not their strong point, or at least not late at night. Since I have only been in the evenings, I cannot extensively comment on their selection as it has been minimal. The malasadas are delicious. Their donuts all seem to be of the cakey-variety, no light and fluffy here. The most surprising thing about Ma’s is their amazing ice tea. I would have never thought had I not tried it.

These donuts are no joke — they are tasty and delicious in every possible way… but, when they are packed improperly by the counter worker, they turn into a giant hot mess in the bag and all the flavors and awesome-ness melt off so that none of them are distinct.(I just got home and realized all of them were placed in the same bag without being individually wrapped… can you tell I am a bit bitter about this?) So… delicious donuts. Just make sure they are packed properly so you can enjoy them!

Can’t make a visit to Newport without hitting Ma’s! Open all the time — donuts are insanely fresh, and the milk is COLD! Gotta try the coffee milk… And, for a change, try the bacon, egg, & cheese«roll» — it’s all baked into the amazing bread they make there and it’s just yum.
