Been there couple times of the best restaurants in Middletown look on the macaroni and cheese especially when they recommend try you will be disappointed

Went there for lunch with a friend! It was great, but if your on a time schedule like we were, order in advance. It was definitely a different take on Mac n cheese. Service was great! There are so many ways to make the mac and cheese, it’s crazy! I tried the honey mustard chicken mac and cheese and it was goooood! I couldn’t eat it all, so I gave the rest to my little ones and they wanted more! I tried the ball of the day I think? It was mac and cheese with bacon… the tomato dressing that went with it was really good too. I did try the chocolate flourless cake and it wasn’t as great as I was expecting… and i like flourless cakes. I will try the rice pudding one though next time…

Gourmet Mac N Cheese made a gazillion different ways, or make your own way. What’s not to love. Service is Super Friendly and the food is great. I definitely will return when I’m in the area.

Been meaning to write this for a couple pf weeks. Ordered the Chicken Parm, Buffalo Chicken, and I think the other one was called Fiery Steak, and they were all delicious. I was skeptical, not used to eating Mac as an entrée, but this place nailed it. I really loved the fiery steak!

Love this place, love the shrimp scampi! I go there and order the same thing and don’t get tired of it.

Very informal dining area, but had the veggie mac n cheese and it was absolutely delicious! Great place for takeout, I’d imagine.

Some of the best comfort food in town, the Mac and cheese balls are amazing and there are so many combinations. The salads are even great.

Great Mac n Cheese! It can get crowded/​busy at times and this effects the wait for your meal but the food is high quality. Workers are very kind and accommodating. They also supply a small but great selection of sodas and ice tea. One of my favorite lunch spots in Middletown.

Wanted to try this place because of the rave reviews it got from my sister and her fiancée. I went in on an afternoon, the place is small, clean and nice. The girl who tended to me was very sweet. I tried the ball of the day (Broccoli) and the bacon cheddar balls. I actually preferred the broccoli balls. I like the outside but thought it could’ve been a little crunchier (perhaps its because I took mine home to-​go).
I’d definitely try again and this time I’ll eat them hot in the store! :)

My children are big fans of mac n cheese so we gave this a try. First, the portions are definitely more than I expected! The woman who took my order was extremely patient and explained all the dishes in detail. The order was ready rather quickly for pickup and each dish was perfect! My only complaint would be that they don’t deliver after a certain time. But honestly, it’s worth driving over!

I will preface this by saying, I do not normally like mac n cheese. It’s one of those things I was forced to eat, and never really liked as a kid.
Now that that is out of the way, this place makes fantastic mac. I ordered the honey mustard chicken, and basically had to fight off my 4 year-​old so he would stop eating my food. We also had the lobster mac and the veggie mac, both of which were great.
The staff was super friendly, food was great, their awning needs a revamp, but otherwise, fantastic. They seriously need a bigger location, as seating is very limited.
We will definitely be returning.

Un-​MAC-​n believable! They have original combinations that you’d never think to put on your macaroni. But it’s FANTASTIC!

We ordered take out from Mix n Mac because we had friends from out of town visiting and staying with us. Can’t comment too much about the ambience or service but their mac n cheeses are definitely yummy. It was hard to place our order because there are so many options on the menu to choose from. It’s like whatever you’re in the mood for they’ve got it – Mexican, Chinese, Barbecue… We tried several kinds including the mushroom swiss, lobster mac, veggie mac and a fun mix of the mac balls that they let you choose.
I got the Fiery Steak and the person on the phone told us that it would be spicy, which I like. It was spicier than I expected but I appreciated that they tell their customers in advance. The portions don’t look huge, it’s a true personal size but I don’t think any of us were able to finish. But the best part was having leftovers! I’m sure it tastes even better fresh out the oven so we will have to come in and try it in store again.

For the love of all that is holy, please get the bacon mac and cheese balls and that dipping sauce that it comes with. SO FREAKING GOOD.

The last few times I’ve been to Middletown I’ve seen this place on my list of restaurants when I was searching for good food. I wish I came sooner! Mom and pop shop, I love eating local. I had the fried Mac n cheese balls (buffalo chicken style) with the green salad. Those balls were great! Especially with the little hot sauce packets. I loved the balsamic dressing. My mom had the pesto chicken it was l like a creamy Alfredo sauce, very yummy… if it wasn’t for my waistline if be here often! Especially on blizzard days like these.

We drove up to Middletown from NYC to visit a friend and to also help him move some of stuff back home. Along the way to Middletown, I decided to browse around on the Unilocal app for some places to eat in his area and the first thing on top of the list was Mix N Mac. I called my pal while we’re on the road to find out if he’s been there before and he confirmed that it’s a good place to eat. When we arrived, we got our orders in and it did not disappoint!
Fiery Steak — This mac n cheese was pretty darn good. Please excuse my language, but this isn’t your pussy ass hipster take on mac n cheese. There’s a bunch of mac n cheese spots all over the city and all of their spicy flavors suck. After a few bites of Mix N Mac’s Fiery steak, it really started to fire up my mouth. The fiery steak mac n cheese has some spicy pepper blend along with some broccoli. They also top your dish with bread crumbs (your choice). It was a good but I’m not sure if I want to order this again. The spices were spot on but I never imagined myself sweating and getting this hot over mac n cheese. It’s a good choice if you plan on sharing it.
Scampi — The scampi mac n cheese was spot on. Good flavors, creamy cheesy rich. Sprinkling the bread crumbs on top is like sprinkling crack. It makes the dish complete. The roasted garlic, parmesan, and lemon parsley flavors were all there. This one certainly didn’t disappoint for just $ 8 bucks.
Alfredo — I think my friend ordered alfredo. I sampled it. Nothing crazy. Good creamy alfredo sauce with cheese and bread crumbs.
Lobster — My other friend ordered the lobster mac n cheese. This one cost a little bit more than others. It’s $ 14. I sampled it and enjoyed it. My pal didn’t like it for some reason. He said it’s too cheesy but what do you expect when you’re ordering mac n CHEESE. But anyway, I respect everybody’s personal opinion when it comes to food. Everyone has different taste buds. For me, it tasted just fine but if I had a choice, I wouldn’t of ordered it simply because I’m not gonna pay more than $ 10 bucks for mac n cheese regardless if it has lobster in it or not. After all, we’re here for just a quick bite.
Fried Mac & Cheese Balls — I can’t remember which flavor my friend ordered but this stuff was fried crack. Outside is nice and crispy while the inside remains creamy and cheesy. There’s none of that overcooked or excessively burnt cheese texture in any of the things we ordered.
Verdict — I really liked this joint. It’s easily my favorite mac n cheese spot now. Their portions are fair and reasonable for the price they charge. S’Mac in the city sucks big time compare to Mix N Mac. S’mac servings taste like melted plastic for cheese. Mix N Mac serves up creamy richness. The wait times weren’t long at all and most of the beverages are priced at $ 2. The service was great. The young lady behind the counter was more than helpful and really polite. They also have weekly specials. The only downside I would say about Mix N Mac is probably their seating arrangement. It’s a pretty small restaurant with not a lot of tables and chairs especially if you plan on coming with larger groups. Other than that, Mix N Mac is a fantastic place to enjoy some great mac n cheese. I’ll definitely come back again and try another one or perhaps literally «Mix N Mac» my own.

When I moved to Middletown and saw that a macaroni and cheese place had the highest ratings on Unilocal,I was a little concerned. But the reviews are right, Mix N Mac has taken the soul food favorite to the next level with unique, well executed combinations of quality ingredients.
The Mac and cheese balls are effing awesome. I was afraid it would just be greasy and heavy, but they were really crispy and not oily. I got the Thanksgiving cheese balls which had turkey, carrots, and green beans in them. Also I had the cheeseburger mac n cheese. Both were great flavor combinations.
The employees were very friendly and they checked often that I liked the food.
They have a good selection of craft sodas from Rogue, the company originally known for making craft beer. I had a really refreshing Citrus Cucumber soda and it was big enough to share.
