Work Out World

Work Out World does not care about its members. I am not complaining about the staff at this gym at all! The staff is not the problem (they’re actually very nice and helpful), but it is the overall company of WoW. It that seems as if WoW will do anything to maximize profits at the expense of its members.
An example of such at this location? They removed the racquetball court (that was accessible to all members) in order to put in a restricted area that only personal trainers and their clients can access.
I’ve been a member at this gym for over 8 years and have had terrible experiences with a multitude of things (such as trying to freeze my account and figuring out why obscene charges appeared on my account). I would suggest looking into other gyms in the area that offer more services to their guests, and doesn’t screw you when you are looking to freeze/​cancel your account.

Ok place could be a bit upgraded no sauna the maintenance crew does a average job the day care has not much for ur kids to do the ppl that go to the gym are mostly young ppl mixed with middle aged the classes are good for the money

I was a member here but cancelled when I moved away. You can’t just cancel like a normal business, you have to go online, download their cancellation form and send it certified mail. Very sleazy tactic.

I cancelled my membership back in March/​April after moving from Middletown to Brooklyn. I filled out the form and mailed it to WOW HQ. When I signed up I paid extra up front so I could go month to month. Done deal right?
The other day I get a voicemail saying that WOW could not successfully charge my credit card this month? Check my statement, sure enough they’ve been charging me for months even though I receive spam follow up calls from people at the gym asking me if I want to re-​enroll or do personal training.
Naturally I’d want to get someone on the phone directly to resolve this issue. You’d have an easier time getting in touch with the Pentagon as each automated re-​direct spins you around until you are ultimately hung up on.
Your only hope is an online ticket form which claims that they will get back to you shortly. Well I must not be the only one, far from it, as I wrote in demanding a phone call for these fraudulent charges within 24 hours or I would be forced to contact my bank and go to Unilocal.I used to work customer service directly on the phone so this is far from an unreasonable request.
Well apparently WOW could care less so here I am forced to waste even more of my time writing this review. Avoid these scam artists at all costs.

I really should rate WOW with one star, but, I’m generous.
The owners seem to care little for physical fitness, but a lot about the money. The staff is abrupt. Please don’t blame the young people working there — they take their direction from the owners. When I signed up, they promised a free personal training session each month. Well, just try to collect on that. The trainers just want to sell you on more. The two trainers that I had did not seem at all interested in designing a plan for me. When I asked about doing so, the trainer told me «it would be too difficult to do»! I’m very active and in pretty decent shape.
My husband had an unpleasant experience when he tried to take my daughter out of day care. When I had a serious illness, they still wanted to charge me a «freeze fee», even though I was bed ridden for months.
They charge little, so, they get lots of students. It’s overcrowded and a very unpleasant experience.

Since I am an Au Pair and just for one year here in NJ I just made a contract for one year. Had no problems with that and everything was good. I like the classes and my favorite one is group groove. Would love to have more hours of that…

I have been a member of work out world on and off through the past 10 years unfortunately. I had to cancel my membership the rejoin twice due to moving for college and a job and both times I had to pay 3 additional monthly dues and they made canceling so inconvenient. You cant talk to anyone– you have to email support then fill out a form which can only be sent certified mail which is ridiculous and even more costs on the clients. The people that work there are always unhappy and no one could help me when i needed to cancel my membership. Also, both times I cancelled my membership i was STILL charged the next month! They could not even refund my account I had to drive over 2 hours away to pick up a check for the refunded amount! What awful customer service for a mistake the company made. I’ve belonged to a lot of gyms and love to work out but this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a membership.
