My family’s favorite BBQ place in West Texas! Have yet to find something on the menu that we don’t like.

«Order the ribs!» They all say. So I did– a full rack, which comes with two sides for $ 20. I added a side of sausage for $ 2 since I was splitting this with my son. Meal comes out and first thing I notice is the portions of green beans and baked beans were tiny. No problem I figured, based on the pile of ribs. And the sausage? Based on the amount we received, about 4 slices, this sausage must go for $ 50/lb! Both beans were nothing to write home about. Mushy green beans and I’ve had better canned BBQ beans. Sausage was fine, just not enough. Now for the ribs. First off, they were barely above room temperature. Maybe 100 F. I asked the awkward question of how to fix this problem, as typically BBQ is pulled from the smoker– which is about 225 to 250f. Obviously these were not pulled out of a smoker, and were likely pulled from a fridge and reheated. Gross is the word that came to mind. She went to the kitchen first, returned and grabbed the platter and headed back to the kitchen. In about 10 minutes, the same ribs came back out, but hot. Now upon closer examination, while these were pretty tender, the thin parts were overlooked and more like leather. These were in the smoker so long even the bones were tender, and would snap under the slightest pressure. Now we are down to eating to stave off hunger, not for the pleasure of eating. We left about half on the platter, paid and walked out. Never again.

1st time visiting this juke joint and was pleased by the aroma but disappointed to find the place stops serving at 2pm. So they were open but not serving food… Bummer. Overall impression was fair it is a typical old school joint/bar/hang out. Saw two guys who looked like regulars and the girls knew their names. Place is dark, large with a stage and plenty of room for dancing. Maybe I can get by again for food.

Not my favorite BBQ in the state but pretty good spot for Midland. Packed for lunch. Just walk in and seat yourself. Agree with past reviews on the grease smell. Kinda does stick to the clothes. Employees take smoke breaks inside next to people trying to eat. Whatever…I still liked the place. Service was fine and so was the food. I would definitely head back next time in town. A good choice is the trio platter so you can try a little of 3 meat choices. I got brisket, ribs, and chicken. It was okay food and a lot for the money. The waiter was pushing the homemade peach cobbler, but I couldn’t imagine having dessert after a meal this large. Eating dinner several hours later was a chore.

Positives: Good portions for the price Meats are tender and have a light smoky flavor Sides were all as expected, and pretty good. I loved the green beans and could eat a bucket of them Sweet Tea was just as Sweet Tea should be, sweet and delicous Large seating area, so you’ll probably find a table Negatives: The food took about 25min to be served, not terrible for Midland, but not great either The ribs were good in flavor, but I’d say too fall-off-the-bone, I like something to hold onto while I’m eating It’s really dark in there, I felt like I walked out of a strip club in Vegas as the sun was coming up when I left. Experience: Now, I know this is kinda tagged as a dirty biker-bar. But, I could not get the smell, taste, and feel of fryer oil off me all day. About an hour after leaving, I realized that I kept washing my hands and my face to try to get the smell off. It was in my hair and in my shirt. I felt like I was 15 again and just left an 8hr shift working the fryers at DQ. So, sit as far away from the kitchen as possible, and be sure you take a shower immediately after. I honestly want to give them 1 star for this alone. However, maybe I sat in a bad spot, or a vent wasn’t working that day, so I’ll try to ignore this in my rating. I’d hold my review until I go there again, but I can say with certainty that even if the food was free: I wouldn’t go there to feel like i dipped my head in vegetable oil ever again.

Four stars because they allow smoking in there. The ribs are great, fall off the bone great. The half portion is more than enough, trust me. They do short change you on the BBQ sauce. The staff is short handed like everywhere in Midland/Odessa but they do a decent enough job. Great place for lunch, the hours are not usual, so call ahead to make sure they are open.

Awesome food! Great BBQ and the restaurant is always busy for lunch and dinner! Arrive early as they often run out of ribs if that’s what you like! The peach cobbler for dessert is the perfect size too!
