Good bbq. Just good, not fantastic. That being said its still worth a stop. I got the sliced brisket, and it got a little dry on the lean side.

You choose the different meats you want, they get weighted and you pay by the pound, about $ 17+ with a min of $ 8+. I tried the juicy brisket, regular ribs, the jalapeño cheese sausage and the potato salad. My overall impression on the meats is that they lacked flavor, they weren’t bad but didn’t have much taste. The ribs had nice flavor but were a little dry. The spicy BBQ sauce had a good kick but flavor was just ok.

The most amazing brisket and spicy sausage I have ever had! The brisket melted in my mouth. A little overwhelmed by 20 people telling me where to go and asking a million questions but we got through it and it was all worth it.

It had been a while since I had been to KD’s but went recently. I got the sliced sausages and chopped brisket. Both of these are cooked with sauce so you know they will be tender and with no visible fat included… the meat was tasty and tender, as good as any other time I have tried it over 11 yrs. or so. It is somewhat expensive and I think you can get more BBQ for your money at other places but KD’s BBQ has a certain flavor I like that other places don’t. However wait staff kept asking if they could take my tray at least 3 times and I was still eating. If I buy food at a restaurant I will eat all of it or take leftovers to go; I don’t want part of it discarded. Don’t see the need for this, I would be fine bussing my own table when done.

This is a must stop when passing through Midland Texas. You grab a tray and load up by the pound. I had the rib and brisket, absolutely delicious, hickory smoked delight, and super tender. I eat mostly veggies throughout the week, you won’t find much of that here, I could be wrong but I only saw coleslaw, potato salad and pork n bean sides. Oh hell, I’ll go back to my vegan diet tomorrow, I’m certainly not missing it tonight. Love this place.

I am not sure what alternate universe the people who rated this place anything under 4 stars live, but take it from a guy who has had some of the best BBQ this country has had to offer. The Sliced Brisket rivals any, that’s right ANY brisket I have ever had. It literally melts in your mouth, pulls apart with your fingers, and has a perfect smoke from crust to center. The chopped brisket, the sausages, the beans! Do NOT miss this place. If you love BBQ and want to experience what Texas has to offer, this is the place, not a single doubt about it.

We stopped at KD’s for a late lunch on our move from Dallas to Phoenix, 9-3-2015. We chose the chopped brisket, turkey, hot link, peach cobbler and the pinto beans. The brisket was quite good and the hot link was pretty good, not overly spicy but had some decent heat to it. The turkey breast turned out to be a processed loaf of pressed turkey. It had that taste of cheap lunch meat and was airy and spongy, not at all what we expected in west Texas. We took it back and they gave us the meat of our choice and we selected more of the brisket. The beans had no seasoning of any kind. They appeared to have just been straight from the can and were very bland. The cobbler was made from canned peaches and the crust tasted like under-cooked dough. Overall it has a rustic, west Texas décor which is pleasant. If you know what to get and not get it might be worth a second visit.

After living in midland for almost a year… It was my first time at KD’s bbq… We had some visitors from Seattle and my fiancé wanted to take them here. The atmosphere was chilled and awesome. It was dark and the place was FILLED with the random-est things lol my favorite was the toilet-view poster in the girls restroom… As you enter.(what looks like a trailer.) you walk pass this man that cuts up the meat and you pick whatever you want and however much you want. It’s about 14.99lb? You get to choose brisket, hot links, cheddar links, ribs, bbq burnt tips, corn, etc. they also serve potato salad, chili, and cobblers. After passing the trailer section, you then enter a HUGE sitting area there’s seats everywhere. And it extends! I love the atmosphere it’s chilled and everyone is sweet there! The food was pretty good. I wish there were more choices, but I enjoyed the experience.

Best authentic BBQ in Midland! Super tender, and the meat has that smokey taste. Great selection, and you get to pick which slice you want. Perfectly cooked, with the ring in the center. Call before going to confirm hours of operation!

WOW!!! I can’t believe I’ve never been here!!! The minute I walked in the door I felt at home! The atmosphere alone makes you feel like you’re walking into a place where everyone knows your name. When you order you grab a tray and paper and a cook will load you up on the meats of your choice(they charge by the pound), get a few sides, a desert, a drink and then check out. You can get plenty of beans, onions, bread and sauce at the condiment island. Now to the taste… The sliced beef was tender and almost fell apart as you cut into it. The flavor just had enough smokiness. It waaaaaas good! Ham, sides and peach cobbler were also top notch! I was also very impressed one of the family owners Dustin came by to check on my Dad and I and see how everything was. This is a must go to bbq restaurant!

Wonderful landmark of Midland! They have dine-in & carry-out options. It’s out of the way & may be harder to find, but it’s easy to see from a considerable distance down the road. My family has always enjoyed their barbecue meats, & they do offer some vegetarian-friendly side dishes that are pretty good.

Ordering your meat from the cook, right out of the tin plates, is just like a family reunion to me. Don’t miss the grilled jalapenos too, perfect with your beans. I coming into town today with fellows from Chicago and Boston but they’re closed on Mondays! Dang shame. Maybe I can get them in for lunch on Tuesday before they fly out. I like that the sides are fairly limited, stick to the BBQ and beans with a little cobbler to top off. This time of summer you will need a good shady spot for a nap afterwards.

This is Texas BBQ at its best. We had the chopped beef and the sausage. It is to die for. The sides are very good also. We had the peach cobbler for desert. The meat is served on paper. You order by weight of the meat. Be careful not to get too much as it can be pricy if you do.

Horrible customer service, bought more than $ 50 of products and was treated by the owner like I was a either a child and/or his age. I’m a 37 year old attorney from Austin and this«owner«clearly was wearing his badge of courage which was surprising that there was room, since he was also consumed by the big heart on the sleeve. At least I was reminded«again» not to believe everything that is written, ha-ha! I will stick to the great city of Austin for all things barbecue. Big disappointment, made what otherwise would had been a pleasant trip, truly disconcerting. Hope that«owner» will remember his medication more often, oh and that what goes up, always comes down. And that’s free advice.

Best BBQ in Midland, hands down. I always try to stop by at least once whenever I’m in town. The sweet ribs and brisket are usually what I get, along with a mix of their sweet and hot BBQ sauce. You can mix and match different meats, which are priced per pound.

This place is solid. Very unique and interesting. The meat here is great. I had the brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. The sausage was the best in town. The beans were okay. Cobbler was good but not the best. Service was pretty good.

This place is great for sure. The décor is of the dive variety but I say that as a compliment. You come in, grab the meat you want, weigh the meat, pay for the meat, and then grab the salad, beans, and dessert are all included all you can eat as part of the meal. The service was really friendly and relaxed. The place was really clean as well. I would recommend you try this place if you’re in the area.

DELICIOUS is the word for KD’S barbeque. Everything is awesome here. I just wish the businesses around here would understand that they aren’t doing anyone any good by charging outrageous prices…

I was attempting a monster road trip of Atlanta to Santa Barbara … over four days … with no A/C(don’t ask). I am driving through hot rural Texas and see a sign for KD’s BBQ off the highway and I thought why not? I park my car at a building that looks like their old location and walk next door and there is a line at least 30 deep in the hot and blazing sun. I knew right away this place was legit. I waited 25 minutes before even getting my food, but it was totally worth it. This is the kind of experience and food that you may only find once in America and it is the kind of experience that a road trip provides. KD’s is a cavernous structure filled with many bits of Americana and I can’t even do it justice in print. The food is spectacular. Once you get up to the front of the line, you grab a tray and a sheet of wax paper — no plates — and there is a guy standing there in front of a huge, 20-feet smoker and you just tell him what you want — brisket, pork, sausages, corn, turkey, chicken, whatever — and he carves off a chunk and puts it on your tray. That’s it. Then, you get in line for cobbler, cole slaw or potato salad and pay by weight. There is another table in the center of the room with many different sauces, pickles, and black beans. There is also a side table with water, and they have all drinks and beers. Then you just sit down at a table and wolf down. This is true Americana and I will take a journey here again. As much as our country constantly seems to be in turmoil, I feel like KD’s will last forever.
