Italian beefs are Great. Service is fast people are nice. I ordered 2 Italian beefs one with fries the other with an onion ring. I must say this is probably the best beef sandwich I’ve had. The meat was tender and well seasoned. The sandwiches were dipped but the bread was not soggy and held. Lost one star because my onion rings were not done all the way and mushy. Luckily the fry order was big enough to share. The sandwich was so good I said the hell with the onion rings.

Today, I thoroughly enjoyed an Italian combo topped with hot peppers and a heaping side of fries. The staff is polite, and the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating. I understand they’ve been there since the early 80’s, under the same owners. I look forward to stopping there more often on my way to the tollway.

Cash only place! The owner is always there and working along side with the girls… My family likes going because of the cheese fries, beef sandwiches and ice cream sundae. I love the fried chicken sandwich with marinara sauce and Swiss cheese!

Great fast food. Double Cheeseburger rocks, I highly recommend it. Kids really like John’s hamburgers. Fries come with everything you order.

Seriously, the best beef sandwiches ever!
The service is pretty good.
The only fall back they have is that they aren’t open on Sunday– I always seem to want Johns on a Sunday,

I stopped here after being assured by some locals in the know that this is one of the best beefs in the area. So, considering myself somewhat of a beef sandwich aficionado, I would have to concur.
The beef was a generous size. The giardinaira was good and they gave you enough of it. The result was a dripping mess but excellent. I refrained from the cheese option on the beef. They use mozarella cheese. But I did get the cheesy fries.
So I will add this place to my rolodex of metropolitan Chicago beef places.

Jeez, I’ve been going to this place since it was in the little store front down the street in the 70s-​early 80s.
Still my absolute fave beef sandwich ever. Love those damn pizza puffs too.
I have to say it does seem to be getting a little pricey lately. It’s up to like $ 5.89 or something for 2 dogs and a fry now.
Oh well, I still love the place and John always seems to remember everyone.

I grew up eating here and was the 1st place I went when returning home on vacation. Their menu is huge and you can get all the normal chicago quick stop eats. Hamburgers, chili dogs, pizza puffs and of course italian beef.
The owner is a class act restaurant man who has ran the place for years. He’s always there with a smile on his face and keeps the food just the way the southside likes it.
Ask for the cheesy-​beef, and i guarantee you’ll be back.
