Went to the Boathouse with my wife for Brunch. We are fans of their dinner so wanted to give their Brunch a try. We started out with drinks and I got the ½ carafe bloody Mary and my wife go the ½ carafe beach Bellini. The bloody wasn’t as spicy as others I have had, but the flavor was great. The added spiced green beans reminded me of a spicy pickle. After tasting my drink, my wife wished should would have ordered a bloody instead. We ordered the crab and artichoke dish as an appetizer and it was perfect. The bread/flatbread pieces they served with it were a great match and the flavor of the dip was one of the best we have had in a while. I had the biscuits and gravy and my wife had the crab Benedict. She loved the crab cake and said it had a great grab to filling ratio(more crab than filling). She wasn’t a huge fan of the tomato hollandaise sauce and wished she would have asked for normal hollandaise, but otherwise was good. My biscuits and gravy were delicious. The biscuit was soft and fluffy with a crisp bottom, just how I like it. My only complaint would have been the number of kids that were there for brunch. This was surprising to me considering it is the Boathouse, a nice, classy restaurant, and it was Valentine’s Day. The kid issue wouldn’t be an issue for me if their parents would watch them, control them, and keep them quiet. This is no fault of the Boathouse though. Overall, great experience and will definitely be back for brunch.

Are you the type to like adventure, Do you enjoy winding roads and that backwoods X-files feel to preempt your meal? This should be your restaurant of choice! This joint is crazy weird to find. Then once your map app states you’ve arrived, you’ll wonder if you’ve just been lied to. Once out of your vehicle you find yourself wandering toward a white bridge in the middle of a small road along with the small mass of others as confused as yourself. After your Oregon Trail style journey to find this restaurant you’ll be sorely let down, The food is 2 stars at best, The flavor just isn’t there. The service is decent, but nothing to write home about and it certainly isn’t worth the 50 – 100 bucks you’ll spend there. The sword fish was good but not worth what was asked, The shrimp and scallop pasta made me slightly ill after eating it. The crab and artichoke dip was 8/10, the best if the night. All in all though a bust. If you want to feel fancy, give it a go but if not … Find another adventure, and save yourself a good chunk of change, and possible dysentery.(– Oregon Trail reference)

We went to The Boathouse at Sunday Park on Friday happy hour for my moms birthday. We sat at the bar tables since we didn’t make a reservation and they could my get us a table for 8 people for a few hours. We chose the restaurant for the views, happy hour(3−6pm) and it is close to the their house. too bad it rained so we didn’t spend much time outside… We ordered pizza plain, meat n fungi and crab/asparagus. The happy hour specials were great. I think it was 4 dollar house cocktail and wine. The pizzas were thin crust and very tasty. I think we had 8 or 10 of them. My favorite was the crab asparagus. The asparagus was crunchy not mushy like I expected. I would like to go back sometime to try the dinner menu… All and all the food was very good and reasonably priced. I almost forgot to mention the service was excellent. We were very pleased with our experience…

Very disappointing since I was looking forward to a beautiful view which did happen, but food was very average, not hot, no mango in the pico mango salsa for salmon, changed wine list with mediocre wines by the glass and kinda expensive… Average service… The location, view and sunset are great but not worth the money… They need to brush up on a lotta stuff! Been going there for 3 years… Things have slipped a lot…

I love this place, we have been going here for the past 15 years and in the last 3 it has gotten exceptionally better. The atmosphere is amazing and the menu is a good balance of solid go to food and new things to try. Our most recent experience was a wonderful sunset, great drinks and amazing apps. We also witnessed a beautiful proposal as the sunset, enjoyed the music from the wedding being held at their venue next door, all while the couple behind us celebrated an anniversary. Virginia is for lovers and the boathouse is a great place to witness that. Final thought, go for the ambiance, surprise yourself with the great food!

Food was tasty with several healthy options for the health– conscious type. Great healthy options for kids. Cookie ice cream dessert was a hit. View is amazing. Totally coming back for dinner and happy hour.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary, at Boathouse Sunday Park. Ambience, menu, service were first-rate. Food was fresh, hot, delicious, and creatively presented. Well worth the money. Will return on special occasions.

We made a reservation, when being seated we asked for on of the available shady spots, they said that they did not have a server in that area and sat us in direct sun with two small children. They then sat guests who arrived immediately after Us in the shaded area. Bee asked to be moved, but they said they were reserved, then moved the people next to us into the shade. No umbrellas in sight The crayons melted on the table it was so hot. Ridiculous they said if we went inside we would lose our table

I went with friends for desert one day and had this delectable chocolate chip cookie in a bowl and OMG it was fanatic. It came with ice cream and I am obsessed now.

I don’t even want to give it a star… Nice place and really nice to sit outside on a pretty spring night until u get horrible service! Sat there with empty drinks, at the outside bar and 3 bartenders. My husband and I wanted to order food but didn’t bc we didn’t get the opportunity… I was so excited about trying the fish tacos!

Went for Easter Brunch with a large group. Food was so so but definitely not worth the forty dollarish cost. Service was poor and it was a buffet. Never got a napkin that I asked for twice or an offer for any beverage besides water, not even coffee. When presented with the check a cocktail was added which was never asked for. Omelet station was always too busy to start making one for me, bacon and eggs benedict were awful. Gorgious setting. I have been before and was never disappointed but sure was this time, especially with the service.

I love the atmosphere, great service. We loved the décor — really neat looking restaurant. Food was good, not great. We had a really great time but just was not overwhelmed. It is a shame because when I moved away 12 years ago this restaurant as Sunday Park was one of the nicest in the area. My tuna meal was good, my husbands ribs were over cooked and definitely did not fall off the bone. We saw another table get the ribs and theirs looked a lot better — we were not overly impressed. I’m not one to send food back, but would not order them again. Our server Liz was great I recommend getting her if you can especially if you have food allergies, she will make sure to take care of you. It was about 15 degrees outside so we did not get to enjoy the fire pits outdoors, but have heard it’s beautiful outside when the weather is nice. For seating sit in the back or up stairs, NOT In the front– they must have had the silverware drawer behind us– wait staff kept grabbing the silverware out and making a lot of noise behind our table that it actually was hard to hear us talking at some points and was very irritating We made reservations and they were very accommodating. This is not a must do again for us. Edit: I had originally reviewed as a 3 because of my husbands meal and the loud noise, but I am changing to a 2 because I was up all night not feeling well from the tuna I believe. Tasted fine, but not worth it.

The food and staff were excellent. We celebrated my birthday this evening and from the moment we entered the doors we were treated like royalty. Our server was named Charles and he was top notch. He immediately had water for us and fresh bread while we looked over the menu. We ordered the fried shrimp appetizer and they were delicious. For an entrée, I ordered the crab cakes with mashed potatoes and asparagus and I literally cleaned the plate. Best crab cakes ever! My wife got the shrimp and grits as she compared them to what we had at the Swamp Fox in Charleston SC and they were 10⁄10. After we got the check and paid, the manager came over and said he heard someone had a birthday. They offered me a complimentary dessert of my choice. I got the apple cobbler with ice cream. It was divine. Overall, the food and service was 10⁄10. We will definitely be back. We are even considering using the venue for our future baby shower. Thanks to the Boathouse at Sunday Park for a memorable birthday and excellent service. You will always have my business.

I loved the Boathouse. It is a retaurant across the Hull Road main drag from Hunter’s Chase apartments in Midloathian. You follow signs around a few bend in a forrest and the bext thing you know there is a clearing with a beautiful reservoir lake! I came and ate one of the best ahi dinners ever. It had rainbow sesame seeds and peanut udon noodles. I am huge on dessert and was surprised at how plain the options were so i didnt go for it. Why have plain crème brûlée and apple cobbler when you could just add a different flavor and make it special like the other food? Then, this Thursday night, they had 2 acoustic guitar players who began after 6:30pm and did beautiful renditions of cover songs. Finally, i watched the sunset over the water. This would be a great place to have a first date or anniversary id you were from out of town. If you are local, i hope you come all the time!

Just moved to the area and found this Sunday brunch gem. We’re cheese board connoisseurs and I have to say this cheese board was on point. Great view, great food, and fabulous service. Our server Lauren was witty and fun. I was a server and bartender when I was younger and while she’s young she has a super sarcastic and witty old school personality. On point.

My husband and I went here after reading several wonderful reviews online and receiving recommendations from coworkers. We ordered the calamari for appetizer, along with the«Crab and Asparagus pizza» and the«Scallops, shrimps and pasta». The pasta was absolutely amazing, and you definitely get your money’s worth — strongly recommend! The pizza however was a big disappointment; the crab aspect was overwhelmingly fishy and didn’t seem to have a good balance between flavors. Beers were nice and cold, service was great, and the views were breathtaking. Aside from the pizza, we highly recommend! Great for a family get together or date night.

I cant say much for the dining in experience, as i was here for a birthday party on the balcony area where we were served hors d’oeurves and small plates. The service from our bartenders were amazing they were friendly and attentive. The view of the lake at sunset is beautiful. We never felt rushed. Very accomodating.

What a beautiful patio! Right on the water with a nice breeze to cool you off. That gets 5 stars. After seeing Thursday drink and food specials on their website, we headed down to enjoy our first experience. First off, you can only take advantage of the specials if you sit at the bar. Ok, so we left our waterside table and went to the bar. The only food special was pizza. Of which I couldn’t order since I have celiac disease. The drink specials were just normal happy hour prices, so no specials there. We each ordered a mixed drink to start. They came in plastic cups! I’ve only ever had drinks in a plastic cup at beach bars, and this is far from a beach bar. Both our drinks were shortchanged of alcohol. On the next round I ordered a shot and tonic water, my partner ordered wine. Well the shot I received was 25mls not the standard 45mls which it should have been. I was so furious I couldn’t even say anything for I surely would have made a scene. We had finished our drinks and never saw the sunglassed, tattooed bartender again. We were going to order dinner, but since he never came back, we decided it was time to go. We finally went up to the bar to ask for the tab and had the pleasure of also receiving a nasty look from him??? So, horrible experience for what could have been a great evening. No, I will not be going back to The Boathouse. Now I know why they have such a big ad in Chesterfield Living magazine. They’re sure not getting any word of mouth business.
