Ok ok, I know… 7-Eleven isn’t the sexiest place to review. I typically stay away from writing about chain businesses. But it’s still a business in my community, and they actually saved my butt not too long ago. And it’s important to give credit where credit is due(whether you’re a chain retailer or a mom & pop store). A few months back, I was hosting a big event in Sausalito. We were expecting a ton of people, the weather was hot, and our beer/liquor vendors needed plenty of ice to keep their beverages cool. ** Sidebar: if you’ve ever hosted an event or plan to host one in the future — lots of ice is essential. You can never have enough! In any case, I was running a bit late this day, and I didn’t really have time to endure the long lines at Safeway or CVS. So as I was driving down my hill, it dawned on that I had a nearby 7-Eleven. Why not go there? Truth be told, I hadn’t been to this 7-Eleven since college when my friends and I used to buy beer and cigarettes for the weekend. In any case, I swung by the store and parked in their mini lot(there’s always parking, btw!). I beelined straight to the freezer and loaded up on eight 20 lb. bags of ice. After settling up with the cashier, I started to carry my icy load to my car(all 160 pounds of it). And here’s where I was really impressed/surprised. The cashier, who obviously took pity on me, offered to help carry the ice to my vehicle. He totally didn’t have to help, but he did anyway. Long story short — 7-Eleven and the kind cashier saved me a lot of time(not to mention, stress on my lower back). Look, I know 7-Eleven is a chain, and we here in the Bay Area like to thumb our nose at these kinds of businesses(especially ones that serves Big Gulps and 3-day old hot dogs). But at the end of the day, they’re a convenience store. And on this particular day, they offered me plenty of convenience. So thank YOU, 7-Eleven. You’re a-ok in my book!

It’s a 7 – 11; the have basic stuff and snack food for when you’re in a pinch or stuck in Hwy 1 weekend traffic. I’ve seen non-locals/tourists be very rude to the staff and the staff just rolls with it. No point in being that way with a 7 – 11 employee, good for the staff for not getting into it with them.

There is a younger guy that works here that I really like. He’s always friendly. However, the older man with a beard working here, I think his name is Gurmohen, always tries to rip me off. If there is a deal or promotion going on, he will try to avoid upholding it. If you want to use a coupon, he will«accidentally» not scan it. He has even charged me twice for the same item before. The least he will do is charge you bag fees even when you don’t take a bag. Avoid going here if you can or check your receipt before you leave the counter. There’s a liquor store on Shoreline Hwy & Almonte Blvd(Dan’s Grocery & Liquors 242 Shoreline Hwy Mill Valley, CA94941) and Walgreens is down the street from Dan’s on Shoreline Hwy & Tennessee Rd.

Typical 7 – 11. 4-stars because it’s the first and last 7 – 11 until you hit Stinson beach

Your typical 7 – 11 with overflowing trash bins, anything and everything you might desire when in a 7 – 11 frame-of-mind… today it was slurpees to reward Cinzia and Reno for good behavior on the never-ending search for a sunny beach. Bathroom available to the public after a weird walk through a clearly employee-only area.

it was right there when i needed it! oh thank heaven for 40oz cherry slurpee heaven! **please note: if you consume a 40oz slurpee in under five minutes you’re bound to have a sugar rush that won’t make you feel so hot.
