Good pasta. Excellent service. Sit by the window on a warm summer evening and enjoy being in Marin. The key is to choose your company wisely. The décor is minimal, so remember to love the one you’re with. I think this place is best after you’ve been well kissed by the headlands sun, and are just hungry enough to unwind with a glass of wine and bread. Vasco serves butter, and it’s good butter. Enjoy!

Cute little Italian restaurant. One of the best Caesar salads I’ve had. Chicken parm was delicious. I recommend coming here for dinner!

The food was great. I had the lasagna and it was delicate and tasty. Jose, our server, was by our table for very attentive service and I’d definitely come back.

A mainstay of southern Marin. The food is not consistent but still edible on an off day. The restaurant is reasonably priced and offers interesting and unpretentious modern Italian fare.

First, hostess hung up on me when I tried to make a reservation. The chicken Marsala had no hint of Marsala wine and lava cake had no lava. Even though the food was ok. I won’t go back.

I’ve been here a handful of times and for some reason, it’s never been my favorite place to go. It’s a smaller restaurant but they have good food. It’s a total locals hangout and there can be a tight knit group of locals at Vasco’s. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order here. Again, not certain why it’s not a favorite for me but I know I’ll be back regardless.

Nice atmosphere and good location. But the pizza was burnt and lasagna was too salty. Waitress offered to take the pizza off the bill but it ended up on the bill anyway — leaving us bedazzled. Def. not recommended.

Wow! Stopped in here randomly and it’s amazing. I had the linguine pescatore. The calamari was perfectly cooked, the scallops and shrimp delicious, the pasta al dente and the sauce so delectable I scooped the leftover in my mouth with a spoon. Eat here. Order that.

Very intimate setting at this restaurant because of the smaller size which gives it a different feel and is pretty cool. I do believe because of the smaller size it can make the restaurant seem quite noisy when it is full. I’ve never been in an Italian restaurant that kind of feels like a sports bar; with the TVs and a full bar as well(which I don’t mind). Not a huge fan of the service, the waiter we had did not seem approachable and made us feel like we were a burden to him. We were barely greeted by the waiter and was not checked on throughout our entire meal. Also when we asked for a refill of the bread he did not seem to happy with us asking him: The food was quite tasty. I had the chicken Parmesan which comes with a mix of vegetables and not spaghetti which caught me of guard but still enjoyable. I’m assuming all the specials don’t come with pasta, it’s the entrée with a side of mix vegetables. All in all, great food but service was not the best.

Ate there last night with friends. The BBQ beef short rib was one of the best, if not the best beef dishes I’ve ever had. We all shared bites so I can attest that the salmon. the swordfish, the chicken piccata were all exceptional. Owner Paul selected our bottle of wine, a superlative, jammy zin, that heartily enhanced our dining pleasure, and the tiramisu and mixed fruit tarts were utterly memorable cappers to a most enjoyable evening. Still the best in Mill Valley!

Not up to par last night. Grumpy waiter and cold entrees. Not a great way to celebrate friend’s birthday.

4th time here. Such a wonderful little gem of a place. Always comforting and so delicious. Cute little bar if you want to come in for a drink. The earlier the better as this place is not too big and can fill up quickly. Reservations are recommended for parties of 3 or more.

Although we can’t come too often since we always spend about 20 $ per person here, we never leave unhappy. The seafood in the linguini pescatore is so fresh. The pasta is good, and the sauce even better — my mom asked for another basket of bread just so she could dip it in her leftover sauce. For bland dieters like me, their linguini and tomato sauce is quite light and you can request their pizzas to be served oil free(it’ll be a bit burnt, but still delicious and filling!) Make sure to reserve ahead — even on a weeknight! I have yet to see this place empty for dinner.

I was really impressed by this place. My wife and I walked in at 9:30 on a Saturday night. Got seated right away– I asked for a booth and they pushed 2 tables together so we could sit next to each other in the booth side. Our server was super friendly and made our dining experience really nice. The service here is supreme. The décor is modern/Marin and comfortable. They’re open till 11pm– so it was nice to see half the tables and the entire bar were still full of patrons at 9:30. They’re house-made bread is superb. A nice fresh sourdough. We split the arugula and shaved pecorino salad with camellia beans and roasted red peppers. It was well concepted and executed. Very fresh and tasty. I had their house made meatballs over fettuccine. The meatballs had a great texture and flavor– very good. Their tomato sauce was light, airy and very flavorful along with perfectly cooked àl dènte pasta. We had a few glasses of their house red which was very reasonable and full bodied for a house wine. All in all this place has everything. Great location, fun décor, excellent service and incredible food. It’s also very reasonably priced and well presented. I’d cross the bridge for this place any night of the week.

Prices are more than reasonable and portions are very generous. Having said that, their food isn’t as fresh and balanced in flavor. My chicken covered in sauces with mushroom and olives was overly tart. Boyfriend’s seafood pasta dish wasn’t fresh pasta… had the packaged/frozen taste. Bread was not worth the carbs. Service was friendly and quick enough. A nice local place to dine before catching a show at the Throckmorton. Made reservations a couple hours before seating on a busy Saturday evening and didn’t have an issues.

I found this place on Unilocal after a nice half-day hike up to the East Peak of Mt. Tam with my bf. He was craving Italian and wanted something nearby since we were only sustaining off of Luna bars and Cliff bars during the hike. A little before 6PM, we found parking on a side street(NOTE: it is typically free parking after 6 for metered spots… we found this out after the fact, but just shows how hungry we were…). The restaurant is easy to find on the corner and we were promptly greeted at the door. Lucky for us, we beat the dinner rush and were able to be seated immediately. Here’s the breakdown: Ambiance: Really nice. I felt under dressed in my Nike’s, running shorts, and long sleeve half-zip top, but the staff didn’t care. There’s a rustic pizza oven in the back corner and everything is just classic, yet modern inside. This is actually a pretty good date night spot if you happen to be in Mill Valley. Service: The hostess was really nice and so was the rest of the wait staff. The owner(?) even thanked us on the way out as we made our way through the ever-growing dinner crowd! Food: Like most Italian restaurants, they brought us bread and butter to start. The bread was mildly warm and pretty typical. We were hungry, so of course, we devoured this and accepted another bread basket when our waitress offered. My bf ordered the Tortellini Pesto Crème dish. I ordered Vasco’s Stufato di Pesce. I loved my dish. It was a decent serving of fresh seafood(fish, calamari, and shrimp) served in a flavorful tomato broth. I ate it all up happily. My bf was pretty happy to satisfy his pesto craving. I tried a bite of his and it was pretty good, but pretty standard. Cost: For such a nice ambiance and quality food, I think it was priced well. Most entrees are around $ 15 – 20. Would I return? Possibly, if I am ever in the area again for dinner!
